A naive young virgin comes to 18th century London. She meets an older woman who hires her to work as a "maid" for her and her half a dozen "daughters". She figures out (after the "daughters" all strip off and give her a bath)that the older woman is a madam and her "daughters" are all prostitutes. The madam tries to auction off the girl's virginity to highest bidder, but the girl ends up being kidnapped by and losing her virginity to a bandit. After her new lover, abandons her she goes back to the brothel and eventually ends up becoming a courtesan for a powerful duke.
The story here has some erotic potential, but it's very badly executed. A lot of this perhaps is not the fault of the Italian filmmakers. Although this is supposedly set in 18th century London, it is dubbed with the most annoying modern-day American accents imaginable. And the sex scenes are all accompanied by horrid and very anachronistic sub-Kenny G. soft jazz music (if this kind of music came swelling up in real life like it does in the movies whenever people have sex, I'd take a life-long oath of celibacy). The Italian director of this, Andrea Bianchi, was responsible for such sleazy classics as "Strip Nude for Your Killer", "Malabimba", and "Nights of Terror". This movie does not succeed in being very classy given the low-budget and horrible English-language soundtrack, but unfortunately it also doesn't succeed in being as enjoyably sleazy as a lot of the director's other work--that is, except for one scene where a drunken nobleman mistakes the heroine for a "boy" and does to her what he'd apparently do to an attractive boy.
The lead actress Michaela Mitti looks NOTHING like a boy (boys usually don't have voluptuous Latin hips and 36-D breasts). Mitti was kind of a third-rate Edwige Fenech, appearing in a lot of 70's and 80's Italian sex comedies (she co-starred with Fenech herself in Sergio Martino's "Creampuffs"). I guess she's as good as she can be given the horrid dubbing (and you do get see a lot of her very un-boy-like body). These kind of period erotic movies (i.e. "Justine", "Private Vices, Public Virtue", "Lady Chattlery's Lover") are usually preferable to your average softcore sex romp (especially the silicone-infested modern day ones), but that may not be much of compliment I'm afraid.
