This La Leyenda del Tambor (1981) by Jorge Grau displays a nice main and support cast as Andrés García , Mercedes Sampietro , Jorge Sanz , Alfredo Mayo , Iñaki Aierra , Raúl Fraire , Aldo Sambrell, Vicente Parra, Luis Marin, Fernando Hilbeck, Jose Riesgo , among others . June 6 , 1808, pass of Bruc . The invincible Napoleonic Army , ¨Grand Armee¨ rules over whole Europe , it has a main aim to destroy, the gun-power supplies of the Spanish Army , but then about 25 kilometres its objective takes places a first defeat at the hands of a single man . As the Catalan people and a rebel village called Sampedor are prompt to resist along with the town of Manresa, but the rebellious people need weapons and they upheaval against the Mayor to deliver them . With much smaller forces, this unforgettable legend deals with a victorious person that turns to be a drummer boy whose strategy would be decisive to win the battle at Montserrat mountains .The Napoleonic Army suffers its first defeat at the hands of the Somaten militia and a single man : a drummer boy who used the Montserrat mountains to echo his drums and send the enemy troops into a panicked retreat. The Napoleonic army to have an essential defeat that threw every nation submitted by the French Empire to battle for their freedom . When the news reaches Napoleon, he furiously orders the captain of the Imperial Guard to bring back the head of the young hero responsible for his army's defeat.
Agreeable version based on historical events with overwhelming as well as nicely staged battles, paced in reasonable way, attractive production values , full-blown feats, engaging set-pieces , being competently starred by Jorge Sanz as the partially-fictional soldier/countryman/drummer boy , and his father played by Andrés Garcia . The movie has great battles sequences set in the forests , well staged with stylish and vitality, thrills, drama and being pretty entertaining . Several action scenes are pretty well made with spectacular battle images and thrilling fights . Unfortunately, on small house screens much of the splendor will be lost . As the movie makes a big deal out of the supposedly deathly rivalry between French and Spanish people during called ¨Independence War ¨. It's a thunder stuff with a strong star including Spanish and Mexican actors . Stars the prodigy child Jorge Sanz as the victorious hero who turns out to be a drummer boy who used the Montserrat holy mountains to echo his drums and send the enemy troops into a panicked retreat and then taking place a crushing defeat . A must see for every enthusiast of a decent action/history movie . If you are a fan of this exciting genre , you'll want to watch this one. This Spanish/Mexican coproduction was well directed by Jorge Grau. He was a craftsman who made all kinds of genres as Drama, thriller, comedy, such as : El extranjero de la calle Cruz del Sur, La punyalada, El espontaneo, La siesta, pena de muerte, Tutset street ,Cartas de amor de una monja, Chicas del Club, Acteon. Being his two greatest hits in terror genre, such as : The Femaler butcher or Countess Bathory and especially the classic horror, Living dead in the Manchester Morgue.
