- TriviaOften cited in lists of shows that "failed" or were "cancelled" quickly, this series actually ended before it ever aired, because of a creative disagreement between Andy Griffith and the network. The network wanted a more action oriented show with fights and chases, while Griffith wanted a more reserved tone. Unable to come to an agreement, Griffith and/or the network pulled the plug on the project. The two episodes which had been filmed as Griffith preferred both aired to very high ratings, but the project wasn't revived.

The Book Of Lists mentions this show as one of the quickest cancelled ever. Andy Griffith had his legendary tv show from 1960 to 1968 and Matlock from 1986 to 1994 but people don't realize that between those years he had an incredible run of bad luck with failed series and pilots that went nowhere. In 1970 and 1971 he had two shows that bombed The Headmaster and The New Andy Griffith Show and in 1979 and 1980 he had two failed shows Salvage I and The Yeagers (cancelled after only two episodes!). This show is a sequel to 1974's Winter Kill featuring him as the sheriff of a small resort town only in a dramatic mode. I guess people had a hard time taking Andy seriously.
