Despite the film's reputation as being an archetypal 'Swinging London' movie it was actually shot on location in Stevenage in Hertfordshire
In an early version of the screenplay, at the moment when Jamie felt he had a chance of success with a girl, it was indicated her name should be spelled out in animated letters superimposed on the scene. The animated letters of Linda's name were made of lace; Paula's and Caroline's names were made of flowers; Audrey's name was made of wispy, strand-like clouds and Mary's name was a flashing neon sign. These animated effects were not included in the final cut of the film.
The church rave scene takes place at the real club of Bowes Lyon in Stevenage. The Who played there in 1965.
Barry Evans and Christopher Timothy were playing 18 year olds, however, Evans was 25 and Timothy 28.
