The set also features 11 introductions and over five hours of interviews with the director himself, six making-of documentaries, a 248-page book, and much more.

Mental illness drove Sarra Gilbert to kill her mother, Mari Gilbert - five years after Sarra's sister was found dead near a suspected serial killer's mass grave in Long Island, New York - Mari's lawyer and others close to the family allege to People. "It was schizophrenia," attorney John Ray, tells People. "Sarra was hospitalized several times. Over the past couple of days she began to hear voices. She called her mother and said come over. ... And she stabbed her to death." Police say Mari's body was discovered in her daughter's home in Ellenville on Saturday. They arrested Sarra later...

It’s the end of the world. Finally, a legitimate reason for a man to experience emotion. We’ve seen this all before… except not quite so ridiculous. I’m “biast” (pro): big science fiction fan
I’m “biast” (con): nothing
(what is this about? see my critic’s minifesto)
End of the world, for real. No heroes to save the day. No reprieve. A big-ass meteor has hit in the North Atlantic, and Australia has 12 hours before the planet-scouring firestorm hits. (There may be some scientific problems with this scenario: an Earth-killing strike would perhaps wrack even the other side of the planet instantly with unendurable quakes and the like? But never mind.) Everyone has known for quite a while that this has been coming, and James (Nathan Phillips: Snakes on a Plane) has plans: to be as wasted as possible when armageddon hits, because “it’s...

In case you missed it, Bill Cosby was officially tried in the "Court of Public Opinion" last night in another sharp, clever sketch from "Inside Amy Schumer." Amy served as Cosby's attorney, basing his rape defense around all the warm and fuzzies projected by "The Cosby Show." Her opening statement was the show's theme song, to get the jury in a happy place.
Amy: "All these women. Same story. Same facts. Repetitive. And how'd that feel to listen to? Blech, right? How do you feel when I play this?"
She played a clip from "The Cosby Show" and everyone -- including Amy -- laughed.
Amy: "Did anyone feel raped by that? How 'bout drugged? Me neither. I felt comforted by a familiar father figure. Nostalgia. Happiness. Laughter. Not guilty! Let's break this down logically. I am a good person. I like this good show. Last time I checked, good...

Criterion repackages one of its earlier Ingmar Bergman inclusions this month, restoring his brilliant, enigmatic 1972 masterpiece Cries and Whispers for Blu-ray release. Financed with Bergman’s own money, the auteur had difficulty securing an American distributor, eventually finding an unlikely champion in Roger Corman, of all people, who had recently established his own releasing company, New World, and was in search of prestige titles to build artistic merit.
Rushed to theatrical release to qualify for Academy Awards consideration, it would secure five nominations, including for Best Picture and Director, winning Best Cinematography for Sven Nyqvist, before going on to be selected to play out of competition at the 1973 Cannes Film Festival (awarded the Vulcain Prize of the Technical Artist). In Bergman’s illustrious filmography, it’s unnecessary (and incredibly difficult) to endow any one title as his best from a body of work that sports a myriad of celebrated examples spanning seven decades.

We’re nearing the end of Orphan Black‘s sophomore season — nooo! — and this Saturday’s episode brought us a Helena showdown and one step closer toward saving Cosima.
Last week’s trans outing got some criticism in the comments, but for me, this was the first episode of the season that didn’t quite work. It wasn’t bad — because even a less-than-successful episode of Orphan Black is still an interesting one — but it didn’t have the momentum and progress you’d expect from a penultimate hour.

Despite the fact the Festival de Cannes—for whatever reason—did not want Abel Ferrara's Welcome to New York, Cannes itself got the film, first in three separate cinema screenings staged during the festival, and then simultaneously online in France through video on demand. Wild Bunch, the film's producers, staged this alt-Cannes premiere as if it were a real one, complete with a press conference with director Abel Ferrara, screenwriter Christ Zois, and actors Gérard Depardieu and Jacqueline Bisset, as well as a series of interviews with the talent provided for the press.
I was able to participate in a roundtable conversation with the director, who was generous in time, spirit and patience with his surrounding journalists. For more on the film itself, see my report from Cannes, as well as Marie-Pierre Duhamel's report from Paris.

Production on "American Horror Story: Coven" is fully under way in New Orleans and though we've already seen Jessica Lange, Gabourey Sidibe, Taissa Farmiga, Emma Roberts and Jamie Brewer on set, two more "American Horror Story" alumni have popped up on the set.

We didn't know much about "American Horror Story: Coven" ... until now.
Four of the FX drama's leading ladies -- Sarah Paulson, Jessica Lange, Angela Bassett and Kathy Bates -- took the stage along with "American Horror Story: Coven" executive producer Tim Minear to reveal some Season 3 details, even though they're only two days into filming.
Paulson announced she'll be playing Cordelia, the daughter of Lange's character Fiona. "Isn't that a nugget? Chew on that for a while. That's tasty," Paulson joked. Later, Minear pointed out that Paulson's character is named after one of King Lear's daughters, not Charisma Carpenter's character on "Buffy: The Vampire Slayer."
Lange also revealed that the show moves "back and forth in time so it encompasses a lot of different stories," and that Fiona will be a witch. Minear noted that not all of the "American Horror Story: Coven" characters will be witches,...

Washington, Nov 9: 7 women are planning to jump from an airplane near Lake Elsinore, California, wearing nothing but parachutes and their lingerie, so that they can face their fears.
Jennifer Hoffman and Marisa Gallegos, founders of Esme and Eve Photography in Los Angeles, will be jumping with 5 other women, who have faced something traumatic in their lives like death in the family, coping with being a rape victim, or overcoming an eating disorder.
The jump is part of Esme and Eve's "Be Bold. Take the Leap" initiative, in which Hoffman and Gallegos urge women "to face their fears, take a risk and push against whatever is holding them back from carrying out their dreams."

Batman has been described as a lot of things, but I think this might be a first (well, I'm sure somebody used the word after seeing Batman And Robin) - comic book writer Grant Morrison describes the ol Caped Crusader as "utterly gay" in an interview with Playboy.. "I'm not using gay in the pejorative sense, but Batman is very, very gay. There's just no denying it. Obviously as a fictional character he's intended to be heterosexual, but the basis of the whole concept is utterly gay. I think that's why people like it. Long-time Batman writer Grant Morrison has told Playboy magazine that he believes The Dark Knight is a “sexual deviant” and “utterly gay” in a fascinating interview that may change our understanding of his Bat-books.
Morrison, writer of DC Comics’ Batman franchise has being writing the character since 2006, a run that has included the storylines “Batman & Son”, “Batman R.I.P.”, “Batman and Robin” and “The Return of Bruce Wayne”. His newest project is “Batman Incorporated” which returns to shelves next month as part of DC’s second wave of new 52 comic titles.
His approach to the Batman character hasn’t been to everyone’s liking and perhaps this reading of the Bob Kane creator character is why a portion of Bat fans are turned off by his books.
“He’s very plutonian in the sense that he’s wealthy and also in the sense that he’s sexually deviant,” Morrison said of Bruce Wayne.

To celebrate the upcoming release of the new psychological terror-filled tale Straw Dogs, Dread Central has decided to take a look back at movie characters who, like that film's David Sumner, have been pushed too far.
"How far would you go when pushed to your breaking point?" Over the years some great films have forced audiences to ask that question of themselves, and the chilling Straw Dogs, hitting theaters on September 16th, will do the same.
When we think of a movie character pushed too far, the man who comes immediately to mind is Michael Douglas' William Foster from Falling Down (If the guy would have just given him change for the phone). Douglas is simply brilliant as "D-Fens". His seething anger radiates from the film as he begins to become unraveled one piece at a time until his final bloody demise.
How about Travis Bickle? Perhaps Martin Scorsese's most disturbed character,...

Novelist Allison Pearson is the latest in a long line of high-profile women to talk publicly about their depression. All these women had pretty terrific lives – or that's how it looked from the outside. So what went wrong?
In 2002, Allison Pearson emerged as the chief chronicler of a very modern female malady: the crazed pursuit of the perfect life. Her novel, I Don't Know How She Does It, which started life as a column in the Daily Telegraph, told the story of that rarely sighted beast, a female hedge fund manager, and followed her struggle to juggle two children with her very full-time job. The protagonist, Kate Reddy, may have had a nanny and a husband who was both gainfully employed and nifty in the kitchen, but her life seemed full of comic anxieties. (The novel opened with her attempts to "distress" some Sainsbury's mince pies that her daughter was taking to school,...

A regular at the Bryant Park tents, Heidi Klum was looking fabulous while out for the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week festivities in New York City on Thursday night (February 11).
Out for The Red Dress Collection runway show, Miss Klum looked her usual sexy self clad in a slinky John Galliano halter dress as she joined the likes of Kim Kardashian, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Bethenny Frankel and numerous other lovely ladies.
Having been a participant in the annual event for the past three years, Heidi told press that - despite her experience - she isn't one to try to dish out advice to the other gals.
"All these women have never done runway and they get out there and strut their stuff," Heidi said. "It's fun and I love all the different fashion. ... This is not modeling with a runway walk and a mean face. It's a different feeling. It's goofy, funny and you ham it up.

While more women come forward announcing that they had affairs with golf superstar Tiger Woods, one man feels a bit left out from the festivities.
James Jibson, a local construction worker, has been attempting to have an affair with Woods since 2002. Jibson’s advances were repeatedly rejected, making the 46-year-old believe that the famed golfer was a “good husband.”
Woods has been rumored to have had extra-marital affairs for months. Thanks to a voicemail leaked to gossip site TMZ, Woods has finally come forward to reveal that he has made indiscretions. Since then, a flood of women have stated that they also have made bacon with the 33-year-old phenom.
“I feel hurt. I feel lied to. I’m a good-looking guy. Sure, maybe not attractive by conventional means, but I’m a good hugger, a good listener and most of all, I’m not the type of guy who would...
