John Kramer's influence is far reaching and his desire to play deadly games seemingly never ceases, so it's fitting, then, that Lionsgate has officially revealed the title of the next Saw film to be Jigsaw.
Scheduled for an October 27th, 2017 release, Jigsaw is directed by Michael and Peter Spierig (Predestination, Daybreakers, Undead) from a screenplay by Josh Stolberg and Pete Goldfinger (who previously worked on the screenplays for Piranha 3D and Sorority Row). The franchise's producers Mark Burg, Gregg Hoffman, and Oren Koules are all returning for Jigsaw.
A sequel of sorts that's unsurprisingly rated R, Jigsaw is set in the cinematic world created by James Wan and Leigh Whannell, which kicked off with the 2003 short film Saw, followed by a feature film version of the same name that made a big impact on the modern horror scene and was continued in six sequels.
The cast of Jigsaw includes Mandela Van Peebles, Laura Vandervoort, Hannah Anderson, and Brittany Allen, with Tobin Bell potentially returning to reprise his role as John Kramer, aka Jigsaw.
We'll be sure to keep Daily Dead readers updated as more details are revealed. In the meantime, let us know what you hope to see in Jigsaw, and check out the teaser image shared on the official Saw Facebook page below:

News on a new adaptation of Hedda Gabler, a new film about the Kray brothers, and more.
Aspect on board for Hedda Gabler
Aspect Film has taken on worldwide sales rights to Matthew John’s new period drama adaptation of Henrik Ibsen’s classic play Hedda Gabler, currently in post. Rita Ramnani [pictured] takes the lead role, with the cast also including Jon-Paul Gates, Samantha Hunt, David Butler and Francisco Ortiz. Aspect Film’s Managing Director, Hugh Edwards said, “Matthew John has tackled an Ibsen classic with aplomb. To do so as a debutant director and achieve what he has deserves credit. John has pushed the envelope and it will be interesting to see the reaction from both Ibsen purists and newcomers to the Hedda Gabler story alike.” The film was shot at Maunsel House in Somerset, owned by Sir Benjamin Slade, who also executive produces the film.

UK films in the 1950s and 60s led the way in suggesting the boys in blue are less than trustworthy
In these troubled times, when the phone-hacking scandal has heaped ignominy on the police, it is worth pointing out that British cinema has led the way in suggesting the boys in blue are less than trustworthy. In fact, so complete was the turnaround in the two decades between The Blue Lamp, in 1950, and The Offence, from 1972, it almost constitutes a social history in its own right.
Made partly to alleviate a recruitment crisis, and partly to acknowledge a wave of teen delinquency just after the war, The Blue Lamp was the first British film made with the full co-operation of the Metropolitan police. The Met lent the makers their stations, their patrol cars and even their own officers to play small roles. The plot – a neurotic young spiv, played by Dirk Bogarde,...
