Amazon Prime Video has unveiled the first trailer for the dark comedy series “The Sticky.”

According to the official logline, the show “follows Ruth Landry (Margo Martindale), a tough, middle-aged maple syrup farmer who turns to crime when the bureaucratic authorities threaten to take away everything she loves. She teams up with the hot-tempered Bostonian mobster (Chris Diamantopoulos), and a mild-mannered French-Canadian security guard (Guillaume Cyr) to carry out a multi-million-dollar heist on Quebec’s maple syrup surplus.”

As Variety exclusively reported, all six episodes of the half-hour show will debut on Dec. 6. It is based on the real Great Canadian Maple Syrup Heist, but makes it clear in the trailer that “this is absolutely not the true story.”

Other cast members include Gita Millier, Guy Nadon, Mickaël Gouin, Suzanne Clément, Mark O’Brien, Meegwun Fairbrother, and Vickie Papavs, with Jamie Lee Curtis appearing in a guest role.

Linda Perry’s career-establishing hit, the classic 4 Non Blondes song “What’s Up,” has been reimagined by Canadian musician FJØRA for the “Welcome to Blumhouse” trailer. “Welcome to Blumhouse” is a program of eight new Blumhouse-produced movies bowing on Prime Video Oct. 6, centering around family and love as redemptive or destructive forces.

The official trailer teases the first four films in the series “Evil Eye and “Nocturne”- Oct. 13 ) against FJØRA’s haunting vocals and dark reworking of the 1992 song.

Speaking with Variety, FJØRA and Perry discussed their collaboration and why the veteran singer-songwriter-producer thought FJØRA was the perfect artist to reimagine the song.

When Amazon and Blumhouse came to you asking to reimagine “What’s Up?,” what were some of the early conversations you had surrounding it?

Linda Perry: You have to completely abandon the song, and a lot of people are afraid to do that with a song like “What’s Up?...

“Unsettle” in for a quartet of disturbing Blumhouse Television and Amazon Studios films that will be hitting the Amazon Prime Video streaming service in October. The two studios are gearing up to release four horror films on the platform next month and the new teaser for the upcoming films promises that they will provide all manner of chills.

The roughly 70-second teaser offers a glimpse at four of the eight “Welcome to the Blumhouse” series of films that will eventually make their way to Amazon’s streaming service. The four films are titled “Black Box,” “Evil Eye,” “The Lie,” and “Nocturne,” and though the scenes in the new trailer rapidly shift from film to film, the teaser suggests that each upcoming film could offer as many chills as the best of Blumhouse Television’s horror releases.
