Ana Ularu is a Romanian born actor and director. She began acting at the age of 9 in French productions like "Meurtres par procuration" and "Passion Mortelle". Since graduating with a B.A. and M.F.A. in Acting from the National University of Theatre and Film "I.L.Caragiale" (UNATC) in Bucharest, she has appeared in more than 50 short films, TV films, TV series and feature films. She is also an award winning theatre actress, appearing at the moment in 4 productions in her native Bucharest.. She acted in local films by Romanian New Wave directors like Cãlin Peter Netzer, Cristian Mungiu and Radu Muntean, but also in international productions by Academy Award winners Francis Ford Coppola, Susanne Bier and Ron Howard. In 2010, Ana received the 'Boccalino d'Oro' in Locarno and the 'Best Actress' award at the Thessaloniki Film Festival , as well as the "Best Actress Award" at the "Cinema City" Festival In Novi Sad for her portrayal of Matilda in Outbound (2010). She plays the Wicked Witch of the West in the NBC TV series Emerald City (2016). She starred in Siberia alongside Keanu Reeves. She now plays Eva Stellenbosch in the Amazon series Alex Rider and will be seen next in the Netflix production Tribes of Europa.

Born on 12 November 1978 in Bucharest, Romania, Alexandra Maria Lara fled to Germany with her parents when she was four and half years old. After graduating at the French High School, she studied acting at the Theaterwerkstatt Charlottenburg from 1997 and 2000, but had already played leading characters in several TV shows and movies such as Die Bubi Scholz Story (1998). Due to her critically acclaimed performance in The Tunnel (2001), she has appeared in several successful national and international projects, most notably the Oscar nominated Downfall (2004).

Emanuel Goldenberg arrived in the United States from Romania at age ten, and his family moved into New York's Lower East Side. He took up acting while attending City College, abandoning plans to become a rabbi or lawyer. The American Academy of Dramatic Arts awarded him a scholarship, and he began work in stock, with his new name, Edward G. Robinson (the "G" stood for his birth surname), in 1913. Broadway was two years later; he worked steadily there for 15 years. His work included "The Kibitzer", a comedy he co-wrote with Jo Swerling. His film debut was a small supporting part in the silent The Bright Shawl (1923), but it was with the coming of sound that he hit his stride. His stellar performance as snarling, murderous thug Rico Bandello in Little Caesar (1931)--all the more impressive since in real life Robinson was a sophisticated, cultured man with a passion for fine art--set the standard for movie gangsters, both for himself in many later films and for the industry. He portrayed the title character in several biographical works, such as Dr. Ehrlich's Magic Bullet (1940) and A Dispatch from Reuters (1940). Psychological dramas included Flesh and Fantasy (1943), Double Indemnity (1944), The Woman in the Window (1944)and Scarlet Street (1945). Another notable gangster role was in Key Largo (1948). He was "absolved" of allegations of Communist affiliation after testifying as a friendly witness for the House Un-American Activities Committee during the McCarthy hysteria of the early 1950s. In 1956 he had to sell off his extensive art collection in a divorce settlement and also had to deal with a psychologically troubled son. In 1956 he returned to Broadway in "Middle of the Night". In 1973 he was awarded a special, posthumous Oscar for lifetime achievement.

Catinca was born in Bucharest, Romania on 21 March 1997, the only child of Untaru family. When she was three years old, she told her grandparents that she would like to became a theatre actress waiting for people to give her flowers on a stage. From an early age, she was fascinated by fantasy stories and legends. She started to take English lessons at the age of 4 and her teacher, a former Romanian flight attendant, noticed her interest and started to tell her stories about countries and customs to keep her focused. Soon she was speaking English with different accents. She competed against hundreds of children from all over the world for the role of Alexandria, the main character in Tarsem Singh's The Fall (2006). She won the role, despite not fitting the initial character description. Catinca Untaru became the first Romanian child actress to star in an international film. Right from the start, her discovery has consisted of a series of fortunate coincidences.

At first, it was the recommendation of one of her former teachers that lead talent agent Andreea Tanasescu to her. Then, an incredible audition with Tarsem Singh, the director of The Cell (2000), during which Catinca managed to switch back and forth between reality and fantasy without the slightest degree of effort. Catinca managed to convince Tarsem that she was the right child for the part of Alexandria. With quite a serious face for a 10 year old, Untaru says that she enjoyed filming for "the Fall" and that her favorite part of the whole experience have been the costumes designed by Academy Award winner Eiko Ishioka. The entire script was never revealed to Catinca, as she started shooting for "The Fall"(2006) she was constantly kept on her toes about the story. She thus managed to become an active part of the action. Catinca's mother Ruxandra recalls that she would be Catinca in her hotel apartment but would immediately switch to Alexandria when she was the set.

Catinca says that being a part of the cast of The Fall allowed her to see countries and learn about customs. As the shooting took place in more than 20 locations around the world, Catinca was most impressed with India. Although quite mature for her age, Catinca still enjoys playing with her dolls and, most of all her friends. When she was filming for "The Fall"(2006), her biggest wish was to come back home and be able to play with her friends whom she was missing dearly. She likes to read books, to write stories and maybe to do movies in one day. Now, almost 3 years after filming ended, Catinca goes to school and is head of class. As of January 2007, she was working in a Romanian experimental media project called "10" where a group of kids are planning to do a movie. It is a mix of reality and fantasy production inspired from her story.

Academy Award-winning actor John Houseman's main contribution to American culture was not his own performances on film but rather, his role as a midwife to one of the greatest actor-directors-cinematic geniuses his adopted country ever produced (Orson Welles) and as a midwife to a whole generation of actors as head of the drama division of the Juilliard School.

Houseman was born Jacques Haussmann on September 22, 1902 in Bucharest, Romania, to May (Davies) and Georges Haussmann, who ran a grain business. His father was from an Alsatian Jewish family, and his mother, who was British, was of Welsh and Irish descent. John was raised in England, where he was educated. He emigrated to America in 1925, establishing himself in New York City, where he directed "Four Saints in Three Acts" for the theater in 1934. He founded the Mercury Theatre along with Orson Welles (whom he affectionately called "The Dog-Faced Boy"). Their most important success was a modern-dress version of Shakespeare's "Julius Caesar", in which the spectre of Hitler and Mussolini's Fascist states were evoked.

As a producer assigned to Unit 891 of the Federal Theater Project funded by the government's Works Progress Administration, he produced the legendary production "Cradle Will Rock", a musical about the tyranny of capitalism, with music by Marc Blitzstein, creative input from Welles, and starring leftists Howard Da Silva and Will Geer. The production was so controversial, it was banned before its debut, although the did manage to stage one performance. On Broadway, apart from the Mercury Theatre and the WPA, Houseman directed "The Devil and Daniel Webster" (1939) and "Liberty Jones" and produced "Native Son" (1941). During World War II, Houseman went to work for the Office of War Information and was involved in broadcasting radio propaganda for the Voice of America. After the war, Houseman returned to directing and produced Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer's version of Julius Caesar (1953).

He had produced his first film, Orson Welles' Too Much Johnson (1938), while with the Mercury Theatre. He was involved with the pre-production of Citizen Kane (1941) but fell out with Welles due to Welles' already legendary ego. He produced a score of major films and was involved in three television series before devoting his life to teaching. He helped establish the acting program at New York's famous Julliard School for the Arts, where he influenced a new generation of actors. Ironically, he had appeared in only one major movie, in a supporting role, before being tapped to replace James Mason in The Paper Chase (1973). He won an Academy Award for the role and began a 15-year career as a highly sought after supporting player.

John Houseman, who wrote three volumes of memoirs, "Run-Through" (1972), "Front and Center" (1979) and "Final Dress" (1983), died at age 86 on October 31, 1988 after making major contributions to the theater and film.

Elina Löwensohn is a Romanian-American actress. She had roles in the films Simple Men (1992), Schindler's List (1993), Amateur (1994), Nadja (1994) and The Wisdom of Crocodiles (1998). Löwensohn was born in Bucharest, Romania. After the death of her father, a Holocaust survivor, her mother emigrated to the United States with her, where her mother went on a hunger strike to get a visa for her.

After finishing high school, Löwensohn studied acting in New York City and played in several successful theatre productions. She started her film career in 1991 with Theory of Achievement. Some of her notable roles are Diana Reiter in Schindler's List (1993), Katya in the 1994 Seinfeld episode "The Gymnast", Iris in Six Ways to Sunday (1997), and Anne Levels in The Wisdom of Crocodiles (1998).

During that she got to play the part of "Viviana" in the movie "Tales From The Golden Age," directed by Cristian Mungiu, winner of the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival in 2009. "Tales From The Golden Age" was nominated 6 times at the Cannes Film Festival. Finishing the University on the same high note, Ingrid continued the streak of good films, taking on the part of "Selena" in the movie "Periferic" (Outbound). Wanting to expand her horizon she took parts in big Hollywood movie productions, such as "The Dark Prince" where she plays "Minerva" alongside Jon Voight, and her last film directed by Terry Gilliam, "The Zero Theorem," Although very young she already got to act under the guidance of great film directors, and there's still more to come.

Alec Secareanu was born on 4 December 1984 in Bucharest, Romania. He is an actor and producer, known for God's Own Country (2017), Amulet (2020) and The Bike Thief (2020).

Olivia Alexandra Nita was born and raised in Bucharest, Romania. She started studying violin at the age of six and continued for twelve years until she graduated "George Enescu" Music High School in 2006. While she was in University she worked for the Acasa Tv Channel in the soap opera "Daria, My Love", The ScyFy Channel production "Hellhounds" directed by Ricky Schroeder, "Radu+Ana" short film and several theatre productions as "The Whale Hunt", "The Statue of Liberty", Three Sisters", "The House of Bernarda Alba". After graduating Bachelor Degree in United Kingdom she returned in Romania where she did an MA in Acting, followed by Mandragora Movies Academy classes where she studied Ivanna Chubbuck Technique with Franz Turner and David Lipper. Since graduating, Olivia continued working in both Romanian and international co-productions such as "Pioneers Palace", "Sons of Liberty", "Somewhere in Palilula", , "Chosen" and "Strung Love". Recently she premiered at the National Theatre in Bucharest with "Buy Nothing Day" (Ziua In Care Nu Se Cumpara Nimic) by Kim Atle Hansen for which both the show and her gathered amazing reviews.

Radu Jude is a Romanian film director and screenwriter. In 2003, he graduated from the Media University of Bucharest (Film Directing Department). Jude worked as an assistant director on Amen. (2002), directed by Costa-Gavras, and The Death of Mr. Lazarescu (2005), directed by Cristi Puiu. He directed several award-winning short films, among them Lampa cu caciula (2006) - the most successful Romanian short film ever, winner of Grand prizes at Sundance, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Grimstad, Hamburg, Bilbao, Huesca, Trieste, Montpellier, Cottbus, Aspen, IndieLisboa, Brussels, Mediawave, Kraków, Almería, Valencia, Uppsala and many more. Other shorts were selected by top festivals, including Clermont-Ferrand, San Francisco, Cottbus and Oberhausen, where Radu Jude won the Grand Prix. Jude directed over 100 advertising commercials. The Happiest Girl in the World (2009), his feature film debut, won the CICAE Prize at the Berlin International Film Festival, the FIRESCI Prize at the Sofia International Film Festival, the Prize for Best Screenplay at the Bucharest International Film Festival and the FIPRESCI Prize at IndieLisboa. The film was selected in the ACID Programme at 2009 Cannes Film Festival. Everybody in Our Family (2012) received the 'Heart of Sarajevo' Award and the Bayard d'Or in Namur, among other awards. Radu Jude's acclaimed historical drama Aferim! (2015) premiered at the 65th Berlin International Film Festival where he won the Silver Bear award as 'Best Director'.

George Burcea is a Romanian film and theater actor. He was born on January 15, 1988 in Bucharest. He graduated from the "I. L. Caragiale National University of Theatre and Film" in Bucharest. Before studying acting, he was a sailor. George Burcea plays Lurch in Tv series ,,Wednesday'' by Tim Burton.

Maia Morgenstern is a Romanian film and stage actress, described by Florin Mitu of AMOS News as "a symbol of Romanian theater and film." In the English-speaking world, she is probably best known for the role of Mary, the mother of Jesus, in Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ. In Romania, she has been nationally known since her 1992 role as Nela in Balanta, a film known in the United States as The Oak, set during the waning days of Communist Romania.

Born in Bucharest, in a Jewish family, she graduated from the Film and Theatre Academy of Bucharest in 1985. She then played at Teatrul Tineretului (Youth Theater) in Piatra Neamt; until 1988, and at the Teatrul Evreiesc de Stat (State Jewish Theatre) in Bucharest 1988-1990. From 1990-1998 she was a member of the company of the National Theatre in Bucharest, and since 1998 of Teatrul Bulandra, also in Bucharest; in addition, she continues to act at the State Jewish Theatre and other Bucharest theaters and elsewhere in Romania. Among her notable stage roles in recent years, in a Romanian-language production of The Blue Angel (Ingerul Albastru in Romanian) at Bucharest's Odeon Theater, in 2001-2002 she played (to great critical acclaim) Lola Lola, the character made famous by Marlene Dietrich. At the same time, she was also playing the role of Kathleen Hogan in a Romanian-language production of Israel Horovitz's Park Your Car in Harvard Yard at the State Jewish Theater.

Morgenstern has appeared in numerous films, primarily in Hungarian and Romanian-language roles. In The Passion of the Christ, she performs a role in Aramaic, but like the other actors in the cast of that film, she simply memorized her lines phonetically.

Her surname, Morgenstern, means "Morning Star" in German, a title of the Virgin Mary, the character she played in The Passion of the Christ. Mel Gibson, a devout Traditionalist Catholic, thought this of great significance when casting her. In interviews, she has defended The Passion against allegations of anti-Semitism, saying that the high priest Caiaphas is portrayed not as a representative of the Jewish people, but as a leader of the establishment, adding that "Authorities throughout history have persecuted individuals with revolutionary ideas."

Mihai Malaimare Jr. was born in 1975 in Bucharest, Romania. He is a cinematographer and director, known for The Master (2012), Jojo Rabbit (2019) and The Harder They Fall (2021).

Alina Puscau is a Romanian actress, model and singer. She started modeling at 14 when she was discovered by Elite Models and won Look of The Year. First selected by Jean Paul Gautier to work in Paris and was then hand picked by Ralph Lauren to work on major campaigns and runway in NYC. She has worked on campaigns for Guess, GAP, Victoria's Secret, JCPenney and Pepe Jeans. After a successful career modeling she made a transition to pursue acting. She trained at The Lee Strasberg Theatre in New York City for 3 years and went on to train with Larry Moss in Los Angeles.

Born Nadia Kujnir-Herescu in Bucharest, Romania, on November 23, 1923, to a Russian father and a Bessarabian mother, the future actress Nadia Gray was raised there. She met first husband Constantin Cantacuzino (1905-1958), a Romanian aviator and noted WWII fighter ace, while she was a passenger on one of his commercial air flights. The couple fled the country during the Communist takeover of Romania in the late 1940s and emigrated to Paris. There Nadia enjoyed a vast international career as a Cosmopolitan lead and second lead on stage and in films. The couple eventually settled in Spain.

She made her film debut in a leading role as a young waitress who yearns to be a star in the French-Austrian co-production of L'inconnu d'un soir (1949) and went on to essay a number of more mature, sophisticated, glamorous patricians in European films, often a continental jet setter or bourgeoisie type. Following the death of her first husband in Spain in 1958 (he was only 52), Nadia continued to film and settled permanently in America in the late 60s after meeting and marrying second husband Herbert Silverman, a New York lawyer. She retired from films completely in 1976 and began headlining as a singing cabaret star. The trend-setting Russian-Romanian beauty died of a stroke in Manhattan on June 13, 1994 at age 70 and was survived by her second husband and two stepchildren.

Star of stage in Europe, she became just another "Another Garbo," like Anna Sten and others, whose importation to 1930's Hollywood led to movie stardom nary a whit. Her most often-seen performance is her brief role as the governess to the Empress's very young son in "The Song of Bernadette", who takes what is believed to be miraculous water from the grotto. Emanuel Parvu is a Romanian film and theatre actor, director and writer. He was born in Bucharest, Romania. He graduated from the National University of Theatrical Arts and Cinematography in 2006 . His Three Kilometres to the End of the World (2024) premiered in the Official Competition at the Cannes Film Festival in 2024. Alongside Adrian Titieni, Daniela Vitcu and Radu Niculescu, he started the first Film Acting Master Studies in Romania at Ovidius University in Constanta. Anghel Damian was born on the 9th of August 1991, in a family of well-known Roman- ian filmmakers. The young Damian started his acting career at the age of 17, at first in theatre and independent short films. He got admitted at the National University of The- atrical and Cinematography Arts with a merit scholarship for the Acting Programme, and finished his studies with a perfect 10 (A+) average. While still in school, he was awarded best Actor Award at CinemaIubit International Film Festival for his roles in three different short films. After graduation, he landed his first major television role, play- ing the antagonist part for 70 episodes, in a well-known Romanian TV-Series -" Lost Angels". He also got his debut for his first feature film with a secondary role in " Rox- anne" directed by Vali Hotea, a film that premiered at the Locarno Film Festival in 2013. In the autumn of 2013, he won the Award for Best Young Comedy Actor at the National Gala for Young Talent "Gala Hop" 2013, a well-known Romanian Theatre Gala. In 2014 he was named one the 20 young European actors to watch at Subtitle Film Festival. He also got involved in Film and Theatre Production, as he produced two short films and co-produced numerous plays in the independent theatre. He began writing for film, completing first feature film script: Marona's Fantastic Adventure ( Premiere: Festival Annecy 2019) As of December 2015, he was appointed Personal Adviser in Theatre Management for the Minister of Culture and served during the mandate of Vlad Alexandrescu and Corina Suteu until January 2017. In may 2017 he was hired as an actor at Bucharest Theatre of Comedy (Teatrul de Comedie) and landed the main part in the TV series " Saturday Night Years" created by Nae Caranfil ( to be nationally televised in 2018) . Also, during the year 2018, he began his collaboration with the world renowned theatre director - Andrei Serban, being a central part in two of his Bucharest productions: Don John in Shakespeare's Much Ado about Nothing and Treplev in Chekov's Seagull He also di- rected his first short film "Michelangelo" that premiered in June 2018 at TIFF ( Transyl- vania International Film Festival) and won the Special Jury Prize. He became a grantee of the newly founded " Lucian Pintilie " fund ( in memoriam of the director) which en- courages art house cinema made by new directors and began working on his second short film - "Celed". In 2019 he become the head-writer for the most successful Tv-series in Romania, "VLAD' a modern adaption of "The Count of Monte Cristo". In June 2019, his second short film "Celed" (Minion) premiered at Transilvania International Film Festival where it won the Special Jury Prize, and the film "Marona's fantastic tale" based on his original script premiered at Annecy Film Festival where is was acquired by Gkids distribution for a North-American release.

Stefan Iancu grew up in Bucharest and started acting at the age of 4. By the time he was 15 years old he had already played in Romanian productions but also in various international films with actors like Pu-239 with Oscar Isaac, Born to Raise Hell with Steven Seagal and Walking with the Enemy with Ben Kingsley. Over the last years Stefan starred in Avant que je m'en aille by Julien Barazer, Bucharest Seen From Above by Andrei Raudu and the feature film One Step Behind the Seraphim by Daniel Sandu, which won many international awards and got Stefan a Romanian Academy Award. He is currently still studying acting at the Caragiale Academy of Theatrical Arts and Cinematography. Since 2018 he plays one of the main characters in the very successful series VLAD, which is shooting season 3 this year. Stefan was selected and won the Best Newcomer award at the Subtitle Film Festival 2019.

Iulian Postelnicu graduated from the National University of Theatre and Film in Bucharest with a Bachelor's Degree in acting.

He played several supporting characters in films such as Domestic (2012), A Decent Man (2018), and One Floor Below (2015) for which he received a Gopo nomination as Best Supporting Character. In 2019 he played the character of Vali in Arrest, for which he won the Gopo Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role.

His more recent characters include Costin in Otto the Barbarian (2020), nominated for the Gopo Award as Best Supporting Character, Daniel in the HBO TV show Ruxx (2022), Sorin in the HBO TV show Spy/Master (2023), and Ilie in Men of Deeds (2022), for which he won the Best Performance Award at FIFF Namur, the Outstanding Individual Performance Award at FilmFestival Cottbus, and the Gopo Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role.

In addition to his acting career, Iulian Postelnicu worked as a writer for several Romanian TV shows like Mondenii, SRC, and Las Fierbinti. He co-wrote, together with Bogdan George Apetri, the screenplay for Unidentified (2020), for which they won the Gopo Award for Best Screenplay.

Dana Rogoz is a Romanian actress and public figure. She started her acting career as a child, starring in numerous children's films and different TV series. In 2008 she graduated the National University of Theatre and Film "I.L.Caragiale". In 2013 she performed together with Christoph Waltz and Lucas Hedges in "The Zero Theorem" directed by Terry Gilliam. Many other roles followed in theater and film. In 2019 she had the premiere in main competition at Sarajevo Film Festival with the film "Mo"/"Indecency" directed by Radu Dragomir, as the lead actress, a role that brought her several nominations and awards for best actress and international acclaim.
