• I recently watched Children of the Corn: Runaway (2018) on Tubi. The storyline follows a pregnant young woman who escapes the original children of Gatlin and flees to another small Midwestern town. Unfortunately for her, He Who Walks Behind the Rows is back to collect what slipped from his clutches.

Directed by John Gulager (Feast), the film stars Marci Miller (Days of Our Lives), Mary Kathryn Bryant (Camp Cold Brook), Lynn Andrews (Cry), and Jake Ryan Scott (Bunny Vengeance).

This might actually be the best Children of the Corn sequel, and you can see John Gulager's potential in his delivery of this picture. The acting isn't great, and the plot is straightforward and not particularly creative, but they definitely kicked the horror elements up a notch. I really enjoyed the kill scenes. There's a barn kill that gave me a big smile, and the goat sequence is intense and well done. I even liked how they concluded this picture. This is better than it should be for horror enthusiasts.

In conclusion, Children of the Corn: Runaway is probably the best sequel in the series, though that's not saying much. I would score this a 4.5/10 and only recommend it to horror enthusiasts.
