• Warning: Spoilers
I am a huge fan of Jared Padalecki, and I will watch and advocate for any series he is in. I was overjoyed at the success of Walker, and happy to hear about this spinoff series. Besides knowing this is set in the past of the Walker family, I deliberately did not seek out details about this new series.

I am very pleasantly surprised by Walker: Independence. I think so far the casting is top-notch, particularly Matt Barr's second iteration as Hoyt. He plays the character brilliantly, and I was so dismayed when he was unexpectedly killed in Walker. This is such an elegant solution, and I am thrilled to have the chance to get to know this new-old character in a new setting, where his "bad-boy" self is in a perfect environment for such a character to thrive.

I also am quite invested already with the 3 main characters. I care about Abby getting her vengeance, and Hoyt finding his place, and Colian finding acceptance in both of his worlds. I'm not as thrilled over Kate, she seems too modern and out of place so far in this small town, but hopefully she will grow on me. I was also thrilled to see Mark Sheppard - I may have squealed just a little when I saw him! He may not be more than just a fleeting character, but it warmed my little SPN heart to see him!

I have high hopes for this series, and I think it is off to a good start.
