At long last, the wait for “Sullivan’s Crossing” Season 2 is over for American audiences. The series returned to CTV in Canada all the way back in April, but Maggie (Morgan Kohan), Sully (Scott Patterson), Cal (Chad Michael Murray) and the rest of the residents of Sullivan’s Crossing are finally making their way back to screens stateside on The CW.
Based on the book series by Robyn Carr (who also penned the “Virgin River” books), “Sullivan’s Crossing” follows neurosurgeon Maggie Sullivan back to her small hometown after her dream life in Boston gets turned upside down. The first season left a lot dangling, sending audiences out on a cliffhanger, which means fans are probably extra-eager to tune in for the new episodes.
Here’s everything to know about when and where you can watch new “Sullivan’s Crossing” episodes, live as they air and on streaming.

Exclusive: As Deadline reported exclusively in February, the upcoming sixth season of Netflix’s Virgin River, which focuses on Mel (Alexandra Breckenridge) and Jack’s (Martin Henderson) nuptials, will also feature Mel’s late mother Sarah and biological father, Everett, in flashbacks. We can now reveal that Jessica Rothe and Callum Kerr have been cast in the roles and offer first-look images of them as Sarah and Everett in Season 6.
The recurring characters are being introduced as Netflix is exploring an expansion of the Virgin River universe with a prequel following Sarah and Everett’s origin story.
Seen in flashbacks mostly set in or around 1972, Sarah (Rothe) is a witty, free spirit from the big city with an ardent passion for activism, and trying to avoid the conventional/traditional life of a young woman in the ’70s. Always up for an adventure,...

I’ve always been a big fan of cozy small-town shows. I grew up on Gilmore Girls, watch Ginny & Georgia religiously, and never pass up a chance to return to the comfort of One Tree Hill. But somehow, I’ve never gotten around to bingeing Netflix’s Virgin River.
The romantic drama, which premiered in 2019, centers on Mel Monoe (Alexandra Breckenridge), a nurse practitioner and midwife who goes to work in the tiny, remote Northern California town of Virgin River in search of a fresh start — but like any charming small town, it comes with complications. The show is based on the book series of the same name by Robyn Carr, who also serves as an executive producer. In May 2023, it was renewed for a sixth season.

Considering how gorgeous the town is and how much we love the characters and their relationships, it’s hard to imagine Virgin River ending. The Netflix drama, based on Robyn Carr’s books, dropped two holiday episodes in November, and it has already been renewed for a sixth season. But are those who work on it thinking about the series wrapping up? For showrunner Patrick Sean Smith, there’s “no end in sight,” he told TV Insider. “I think as long as these characters are living their lives, and we’re telling the stories in deep personal emotional ways, then I hope the series can continue on for many, many, many seasons to come.” After all, Mel (Alexandra Breckenridge) just met her biological father — whose ominous “I have something to tell you” is taking us into Season 6 — and she and Jack (Martin Henderson) have yet to get married. Christmas has finally arrived in Virgin River. The Netflix romantic drama, based on the Virgin River books by Robyn Carr, has just released the back half of Season 5, which consists of two episodes. The series’s glacial pace means this is our first taste of Virgin River’s holiday traditions, and even though its structure doesn’t really demand holiday specials, the truth is that nothing goes better with a small-town show than the Christmas season.
The two episodes, which were released today, explore the town's Christmas traditions and how they mix with Mel and Jack’s extended families coming together to celebrate. Add Jack’s newly divorced parents, Lizzie and Denny keeping their baby a secret from her mom, and Mel’s quest to find her biological father, and there’s plenty of drama in Virgin River, even during the happiest time of the year.

The decision to pick up Sullivan’s Crossing wasn’t a huge departure for the CW; romantic, field-good series like Hart of Dixie, Life Unexpected and Everwood have long been hallmarks of the network..
Still, the show was immediately labeled as a cheap import because it first launched in Canada in March, where it became CTV’s highest-rated drama launch on over two years. It is produced by Reel World Management in association with CTV with Fremantle as global distributor. It’s from Roma Roth and Christopher E. Perry, the team behind Netflix’s Virgin River.
“We have to be entrepreneurial. We can’t just write a $10 million per-episode check for a show with some dragons in it,” President Brad Schwartz said during the upfronts in May.

An idyllic setting, charming cast, and sweet love story are often the ingredients needed for a good comfort watch. The desire to escape everyday pressures since the pandemic has seen viewers like myself going back to old favorites such as Gilmore Girls or finding something newer like Virgin River, currently streaming its fifth season on Netflix.
With each season reaching Netflix’s top ten, Virgin River has capitalized on fan’s love of Robyn Carr’s 21-book-long series of the same name and our increasing impulse to find new shows that don’t require too much of our attention. Virgin River is precisely that as it lacks terror-inducing Jaws music and instead provides Hallmark-esque vibes with the added dash of danger from the illegal drug trade surrounding the town.

Netflix is preparing to release Virgin River season 5 in September, but the streaming service provider isn’t bothering to wait for the season’s watch numbers to come in before committing to more of the story. In May, the streaming service provider revealed Virgin River will return for a sixth season. There is a logical reason why the company is so committed to continuing Mel Monroe’s story.
‘Virgin River’ will be back for atleast a couple more seasons
Season 5 of Virgin River will not be its last. In May, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that the streaming service provider was prepared to bring a sixth season of the drama to viewers, even before season 5’s official release date. There doesn’t look to be an end in sight either, as Netflix could be interested in extending the story even further. How much further they’ll opt to take the show,...

With The CW’s fall primetime schedule, which was unveiled on Thursday morning during upfronts, we’re getting a true look at what the Nexstar era of The CW entails. The network’s new schedule only includes two returning scripted originals — Season 6 of “All American” and Season 4 of “Walker.” The network’s typical youth-focused programming has been replaced by seven more adult-oriented series that are new to the network, most of which are either Canadian or British productions. Say goodbye to DC superheroes and cute fashion dramas and hello to half-hour comedies about raising kids.

Netflix is returning to Virgin River.
The streaming giant used its time in front of Madison Avenue ad buyers at its first-ever upfront presentation Wednesday in New York to announce that the soapy drama starring Alexandra Breckenridge and Martin Henderson will return for a sixth season. The renewal comes as season five of Virgin River is slated to premiere at a to-be-determined date in the fall on the streaming giant.
The drama based on the novels of the same name by Robyn Carr has been a standout performer, according to Netflix’s internal measurement. (The streamer, like others, does not release traditional viewership data.)
Patrick Sean Smith serves as showrunner on season five after taking over for Sue Tenney, who helmed the first four seasons of the Hallmark-like drama. Season five has already wrapped production.
