Hailing from Bengaluru, Sindhu is a writer, director and actor who started working in theatre at the age of 16. She encountered a film set for the first time when she was cast in the Netflix Original feature Brahman Naman which was also showcased in the World Cinema Dramatic Competition section at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival. Sindhu has directed and narrated a documentary series, Jeevalahari, commissioned by Doordarshan which was shot entirely during the pandemic with a two-member team. Sindhu is currently working on her next Kannada feature film called 13 Days which won at the SWA Script Lab 2022 out of 600 submissions from all over the country. It was also one of the only 9 South Indian projects to be selected for the root.ax accelerator programme 'South Bridge' by The Storiculture Company. A passionate and talented writer and creator, Sindhu got selected to be part of the AIB First Draft writing workshop where she was mentored by Satyanshu Singh. At the workshop, she developed her first Kannada feature screenplay called Aachar & Co. As a proof of concept, Sindhu directed 6 minutes of the screenplay which eventually got picked up by PRK Productions to be made into a full-length feature. This film, Aachar & Co. which was released in July 2023, is the first Kannada film that comprises a group of female technicians which created an environment for equal pay and opportunity for the crew.
