Born in New Orleans, Shane David LeCocq is an actor, director, writer, as well as an accomplished dancer and choreographer. He has a resume that spans over 30 years for over 100 projects on stage, screen, television, radio, as well as the competitive Ballroom/Latin dance floor.
His commitment to show business began officially in the high school drama club, where from sophomore to senior year, he performed in 11 plays, usually playing the lead role.
Shane left New Orleans to attend NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, where for three years he had the privilege of studying at the Atlantic Theater Company under the tutelage of David Mamet, William H Macy, Felicity Huffman, Clark Gregg, Josh Pais, Karen Kohlhaas, Robert Bella, Bob Krakower, Camryn Manheim, and Susan Finch just to name a few. His fourth year was spent studying at NYU's film/television studio, Stonestreet Studios as well as studying piano through NYU's music department.
In the 6 years he lived in NYC, the Off-Broadway scene became his home.
Beyond cracking up audiences in the New York comedy club scene with his sketch comedy troupe, THE LATEX BAGELS, he also starred in one-act plays by Peter Hodges and Howard Korder, originated the Preacher role in Diane Amsterdam's CARNIVAL 'ROUND THE CENTRAL FIGURE, directed by Karen Kohlhaas and played the lead role of the Duke in MEASURE FOR MEASURE directed by Scott Freeman.
Shane stunned audiences at the Atlantic Theater with his performances as Gaston in the original work THE UTOPIA PROJECT and as Crowsfoot in Mac Wellman's HARM'S WAY, both directed by Josh Pais. Judd Hirsch told the cast personally that THE UTOPIA PROJECT was the finest piece of theater he had seen all year.
Achieving his BFA in acting from NYU, Shane was immediately cast Off-Broadway in two Eric Bogosian revivals back to back. TALK RADIO and SCENES FROM THE NEW WORLD. Coincidentally, in both shows, Shane played the lead role that Mr. Bogosian had played himself in their original productions.
It was around this time that his endeavor into ballroom dance and the teaching of it started....beginning as a summer job in 1997, but eventually blooming into a full blown passion and career. With over 27 years of professional experience, he holds full credentials in all 5 styles of partner dancing: American Smooth & Rhythm, International Standard & Latin, and Theater Arts.
Like his heroes Gene Kelly, Fred Astaire, James Cagney, and Bob Fosse, he has dared to devote his performance and story-telling life to both the craft of acting, as well as to the art of dance.
He has been the Dance Choreographer/Captain for numerous projects over the years including UNDERGROUND RAILROAD, QUARRY, THINK LIKE A DOG and LISA FRANKENSTEIN directed by Zelda Williams.
As an actor, Shane has appeared as Captain Harold Longford on NCIS: NEW ORLEANS, as Ted Levine's minion on Showtime's ON BECOMING A GOD IN CENTRAL FLORIDA and helped create the most pervasively thematic plot point which haunts Oscar Issac in Paul Schrader's THE CARD COUNTER. He has also done numerous projects for Disney, including ULTRA VIOLET & BLACK SCORPION and QUIZ LADY.
Shane is currently sending, A TOUCH OF MAGIC, a lovely little love story he wrote/directed and produced for its film festival run for 2023 and 2024.
