No F**King Fighting! Ok, maybe a little, as the Peaky Blinders are set to return to Netflix, this time for a feature-length narrative entitled “A Peaky Blinders Film.” Announced June 2024, the film will see Cillian Murphy return to the role of gang leader, business man, and politician Tommy Shelby. The script has already been written by series creator Steven Knight and will be directed by Tom Harper, who helmed three episodes of the show in addition to directing features like “Wild Rose” and “The Aeronauts.”
In the official announcement, Murphy wrote, “It seems like Tommy Shelby wasn’t finished with me… It is very gratifying to be recollaborating with Steven Knight and Tom Harper on the film version of ‘Peaky Blinders.’ This is one for the fans.”

“You realise how many opportunities are out there,” say producers of impact of UK Global Screen Fund
The UK Global Screen Fund [Ukgsf] has opened “massive” post-Brexit opportunities for the UK creative sector, according to Scotland-based animation producer Ken Anderson.
“The Ukgsf is about our outward-looking perspective on the business – this is not about the UK,” said Anderson, speaking on a panel at the Screen Summit ‘The Future of UK Film’ yesterday titled ‘How the UK Global Screen Fund can help facilitate international collaborations’.
“The opportunity is massive. That’s what we’re having to address as a nation post-Brexit – we have to think differently,” continued the producer, who co-founded Wild Child Animation. Anderson stepped down from the company earlier this month,...

No expense is being spared it seems, as Rian Johnson wraps production on his third murder mystery film, Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery.
This isn’t the first time that a Knives Out story has circulated alongside a very big number, so we’ve definitely been here before. However, just because writer/director Rian Johnson’s popular murder mystery series has managed to deal in pretty eye-watering numbers before, it doesn’t make this latest story and less eyebrow-raising.
According to The InSneider, the budget for Netflix’s Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery – the third film in Rian Johnson’s murder mystery series – has reached a whopping $210m. Whilst films reaching that level of production budget isn’t uncommon these days, they usually tend to be blockbusters filled with expensive CGI sequences, pricey practical set pieces or both.

The Garvey sisters are making their way back to our screens this fall, and I absolutely can't wait! I'm so excited for Bad Sisters season 2. There's some shows that honestly don't feel like they need a second season. And with the way season 1 ended, it could have worked where the story could have ended there. But, clearly there's more to tell. And when it comes to this show, I don't mind another installment at all.
Bad Sisters season 2 premieres Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2024 with the first two episodes on Apple TV+. These will be followed by one new episode released weekly until the finale streaming on Christmas Day, Dec. 25, 2024. What a true gift! There's a total of 8 episodes this season, two less than season 1. So what is Bad Sisters season 2 about? We shared the official synopsis from Apple TV+ below:

The series of murder mysteries that began with the 2019 film Knives Out and continued with the 2022 film Glass Onion is set to keep on going with Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, which has writer/director Rian Johnson back at the helm. Johnson and his collaborators are being very secretive about this project right now, but there’s a lot of hype for it – so we figured this would be a good time to start assembling a list of Everything We Know About Wake Up Dead Man. Here we go:

Johnson got the title Knives Out from a Radiohead song. When it came time to make the sequel Glass Onion, he got the title from a song by The Beatles. So it’s only fitting that the third film in the franchise have a song-inspired title as well. But while Radiohead and The Beatles were from England,...

28 years after the original movie, Kate (Daisy Edgar-Jones) is using Dorothy to get a new invention off of the ground — a powder that should decelerate the power of a tornado if it gets swept up. After a catastrophic disaster with an F5, Kate puts her dreams on the back burner until her friend Javi (Anthony Ramos) entices her back to Oklahoma. While there, she meets YouTube sensation Tyler (Glen Powell), who describes himself as a ‘tornado wrangler.’ As the trio race for the best storm, Kate learns both guys aren’t as they appear.
Let’s call a spade a spade — Twisters is almost exactly the same film as Twister, except this time, no CGI cows get swept up in a tornado. Play by play, beat for beat,...

[Editor’s note: The following story contains spoilers for “Twisters”]
There’s nothing quite like a big, loud, summer blockbuster. The kind of film that shakes your seat, blasts your ears, and tugs at your heartstrings with excessive, yet entertaining force. Many films this summer have tried to service this need, including “The Fall Guy” and “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga,” but “Twisters” may finally be the one to exceed financial expectations, if not at least meet them. Critics have already praised its direction and VFX, plus this Glen Powell summer would not be complete without another hit at the box office for the handsome human golden retriever. However, as much as “Twisters” delivers on its promise to blow you away, the one thing holding it back from being a masterpiece on the level of “Top Gun: Maverick” — other than not having Tom Cruise, of course — is its relation to its predecessor, the 1996 disaster film from “Speed” director Jan de Bont and quite singular,...

Glen Powell honors the memory of Bill Paxton as Twisters carves a new path of destruction in cinemas
As Twisters churns and thrashes its way into theaters, one of the film’s stars, Glen Powell, is paying tribute to the late actor Bill Paxton, who helped make the first film a classic. Paxton starred alongside Helen Hunt in Jan de Bont’s 1996 action blockbuster as Bill Harding, an accomplished storm chaser on the verge of changing the way extreme weather patterns. Despite not getting along on set, Paxton and Hunt’s chemistry in Twister is electric, and the film would only be nearly as memorable with Paxton’s energy, bravery, and entertaining approach to the material. In a post on social media, Powell remembered the late Paxton, whom he worked with on the 2013 film Red Wing.
“As we release Twisters into the world today, I just wanted to look up and tip my hat to the legend that is Bill Paxton,” Powell shared on Twitter. “A great friend...

“Twisters” is getting ready to shake up the summer box office.
The disaster movie, a sequel to the 1996 classic “Twister,” has made $10.7 million in Thursday previews at the box office. The Universal film, starring Glen Powell, Daisy Edgar-Jones and Anthony Ramos as storm chasers, is expected to open between $50 million and $55 million this weekend.
“Twisters” comes with a $155 million price tag, so it’ll need to storm the global box office to turn a profit. Warner Bros. is distributing the film internationally, where it’s made $X million so far. It will open in larger markets like France, Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom this weekend.
Released 28 years after the original film, “Twisters” stars Powell as Tyler Owens, a popular storm chaser on the internet, and Edgar-Jones as Kate Cooper, a meteorologist and ex-tornado chaser who is haunted by a major storm from her past. With her colleague Javi (Ramos...

Deep down, all of us are attracted to danger in one form or another. Sure, most of us wouldn't consider ourselves daredevils, but the act of living requires some level of risk on a daily basis. As such, it's easier (if not simple) to understand the actions of those people who do take their lives in their own hands, because they do so for multiple reasons: one, for the sheer visceral thrill of doing so, but two, because they know, as we all do, that taking a risk is the best way to ensure actual results.
On the surface, "Twisters" may seem an odd duck when compared to the plethora of legacy sequels that have arisen over the last 15 or so years. Unlike most legacy sequels, there are no returning characters from the original 1996 "Twister" who make an appearance,...

Jan de Bont’s Twister remains one of the most beloved blockbusters of the 1990s, at least for the millennials who grew up with it. That’s chiefly due to its still-awesome special effects, fashioned at a time when filmmakers were delighting in experimenting with the newfound possibilities of CGI. Each storm was meticulously crafted and impressively tactile, making good on the film’s tagline, “It’ll blow you away.” So why, in an even more advanced cinematic landscape where any phenomenon can be easily created with the click of a computer mouse, does Lee Isaac Chung’s long-gap sequel, Twisters, barely kick up dust?

Tom Cruise attended the London premiere of Twisters earlier this week, and it’s safe to say he had an absolute ball. Anthony Ramos, who stars in Twisters alongside Daisy Edgar-Jones and Glen Powell, told People that Cruise was “losing his mind” during the screening.
“Glen was sitting behind me, my brother was next to me, and Tom was behind my brother. Tom just kept hitting me the whole entire movie,” Ramo said. “After the third time I turned back around, like, ‘Yo, Tom Cruise is bugging out right now!’ He keeps hitting me.” In a normal movie-watching situation, that would be very annoying, but are you really going to tell Tom Cruise to stop hitting you because he’s so excited about your movie?
Ramos continued, “He keeps hitting me because he’s excited about different moments, and he’s laughing. He’s just laughing out loud the whole entire film.

Glen Powell wasn’t supposed to be showing off his body in “Twisters,” but then came the rain, as director Lee Isaac Chung decided at the last minute that Powell should be seen in the natural disaster movie in a wet white T-shirt.
“That was Isaac’s idea,” Powell told me Thursday at the film’s Los Angeles premiere. “I did have a jacket in that scene. He said, ‘I think we’re going to toss the jacket out.’ I was like, ‘Cool.’ And he goes, ‘Also, there’s going to be a rain machine.’ I was like, ‘Ok.’ But then I was like, ‘Wait a minute.’”
The hunky moment in the movie — a sequel to the classic tornado disaster action thriller “Twister” — was met with applause and cheers during the premiere screening.

With the upcoming release of Twisters, it’s hard not to think of the late Bill Paxton, who starred in the original movie alongside Helen Hunt. Although the new movie isn’t expected to feature any of the original actors, it will feature a tribute to Paxton in the form of his son, James.
James Paxton, now 30, will make a cameo appearance in Twisters as a tribute to his father. He was just a year old when the original movie was shot, but his first time seeing the movie arrived a decade later when his father called him in to see it on TV. “Dad was making dinner and he called me in, like, ‘Hey, look, what’s on. It’s your old man,’” Paxton told Variety.

Twisters whipped up a frenzy in London on Monday night as the Lee Isaac Chung disaster epic touched down at Cineworld Leicester Square for its European premiere. Before any tornadoes hit the screen, audience members got some early thrills courtesy of a very special guest in the crowd: Tom Cruise.
The Hollywood superstar attended the screening in support of his Top Gun: Maverick pals, including Glen Powell, who stars in the Universal Pictures and Warner Bros. release opposite Daisy Edgar-Jones, Harry Hadden-Paton and Anthony Ramos. There’s another Top Gun connection: That film’s director, Joseph Kosinski, is credited with story by credit on Twisters, which was written by Mark L. Smith based on characters created by Michael Crichton and Anne-Marie Martin. Cruise has also long been close to Steven Spielberg, who executive produced the new Twisters as well as the original 1996 film.

The forecast is looking better than good for Lee Isaac Chung’s Twisters.
The summer tentpole — featuring a high-wattage cast that includes Daisy Edgar-Jones, Glen Powell and Anthony Ramos — is tracking to open to $55 million over the July 19-21 weekend in North America, according to market leader The National Research Group. Universal, which is handling the film domestically, is being more conservative in suggesting $40 million to $45 million considering that tracking has been off as of late in many cases. Some believe Twisters could even do more than $55 million, such as research firm The Quorom, which is predicting $54 million to $61 million.
Warner Bros. International has overseas duties.
Twisters opens 28 years after filmmaker Jan de Bont’s Twister, starring Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton, whipped up a Category 5 storm at the box office. Universal and Chung have been clear in saying that the new film isn’t a sequel, but a “current-day chapter” of the first film.

Daniel Craig's Benoit Blanc is looking dapper as hell in this new look at "Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery," Rian Johnson's latest murder mystery that continues the adventures of the private detective after "Knives Out" and "Glass Onion." The topline instant takeaway is obviously that Blanc has much longer hair than he's had in the previous two films, and that new look could potentially signal a new attitude or maybe even a whole new worldview for this character. Could a shaggier-haired Blanc be a bit more laid back and bohemian this time around? Perhaps he's been hanging out with his pal Derol from "Glass Onion" in between movies and taken some life lessons from the amiable slacker.
