The trailer for the mockumentary film Micro Budget features an array of notable comedy stars and launches ahead of the project’s festival debut later this month.

The Hollywood Reporter’s exclusive first look at the promo teases the comedy feature from director and co-writer Morgan Evans. Brandon Micheal Hall, Bobby Moynihan, Chris Parnell and Patrick Noth star in Micro Budget, which centers on clueless father-to-be Terry (Noth), who moves with his pregnant wife to Los Angeles to shoot a low-budget disaster movie that he aims to sell to a streaming service for a big profit.

Rounding out the cast are Maria Bamford, Mike Mitchell, Neil Casey, Emilea Wilson, Nichole Sakura, Jordan Rock, Jon Gabrus and Hal Linden.

Twelve years after the launch of Instagram, it’s hardly news that no one’s life is really as blissful as it looks on their carefully curated feeds. Yet as Becky (Erin Doherty) can attest, it can be difficult to remember that when you’re stuck in a run-down two-bedroom flat on the unfashionable side of Bristol with your ailing mother, poring over snapshots from the much prettier, posher life of someone you used to know.

In fact, it’ll take most of the six hourlong episodes of Chloe for Becky to learn just how messy and troubled the life of her childhood friend Chloe Fairbourne (Poppy Gilbert) really was. Cameras have officially started rolling on Hulu’s How I Met Your Father — and we have an intriguing first look, courtesy of series co-creator Isaac Aptaker.

Aptaker on Tuesday commemorated Day 1 with a photo from the set, which shows series leads Hilary Duff (Younger) and Chris Lowell (Glow) at a bar that looks nothing like MacLaren’s. Brightly lit, with seating that better resembles Friends‘ Central Perk than How I Met Your Mother‘s central watering hole, this is not the same Upper West Side pub once frequented by Ted, Barney, Robin, Marshall and Lily. Exclusive: God Friended Me creators Steven Lilien and Bryan Wynbrandt have signed with Range Media Partners for management.

The duo most recently created dramedy God Friended Me, which ran for two seasons on CBS. They served as executive producers and showrunners, with the team directing the series finale. They were honored with the 2019 Humanitas Prize for their work on the series. It starred Brandon Micheal Hall as an outspoken atheist whose life is turned upside-down when he receives a friend request on social media from “God” and unwittingly becomes an agent of change in the lives and destinies of others around him.

Prior to that, the pair developed pilots with Will Smith’s Overbrook Entertainment, Scott Stuber’s Bluegrass Films and Secret Hideout. They co-created their first series Alcatraz in 2012 with JJ Abrams and Bad Robot producing for Fox. Their previous credits include Kyle Xy, CSI: NY, Hawaii Five-0 and Gotham.

“The Surrogate” is the kind of movie you’d expect to be based on a stage play, because it is so entirely driven by well-honed dialogue arguing social issues from nicely detailed if schematically conceived character viewpoints — like something by Donald Margulies, Rebecca Gilman or the pseudononymous Jane Martin. That writer-director Jeremy Hersh’s debut feature is a screen original surprises, not because it’s “stagy” (though he has written plays), but because .

This indie drama about a young African American woman who agrees to become pregnant for her gay interracial-couple best friends, and the fallout when that arrangement unravels, touches vividly on numerous hot ethical and identity-politics topics without sermonizing in any direction. It’s an engrossing, very well-acted tale that will need viewer word of mouth to get the audience this “virtual theater” release deserves, given a lack of marquee names behind or before the camera.

HBO’s upcoming adaptation of “Perry Mason,” HBO Max’s new ballroom competition series “Legendary” and reunions of “Justified” and “Psych” are among the series taking part in Atx Television Festival’s first-ever virtual television festival, the organization announced Friday.

Other newly announced programming includes Pop TV’s “One Day at a Time,” HBO Max’s “Search Party,” Hulu’s “Little Fires Everywhere,” Showtime’s “Outcry” and the “One Chicago” franchise. Additionally, the three-day screening and panel series of events will be raising awareness and funds for Direct Relief and the Actors Fund, in an effort to benefit those affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

CBS this morning renewed 18 shows for a total of 23 scripted/reality series and newsmagazines picked up for next season. Left off the list were freshmen Tommy, Carol’s Second Act and Broke and comedy Man with a Plan, now in its fourth season. The development is not surprising: All four had been on shaky ground and now have been canceled.

As Deadline has reported, the grounding of all broadcast pilots was expected to benefit bubble series as networks are considered more likely to stick with a modest performer that has an established following than to take a chance on a pilot that has not been filmed and tested.

God Friended Me has been canceled by CBS.

It's sad, but it's true.

The two-hour series finale is slated to air Sunday, April 26, and we're not prepared to say goodbye.

The official trailer teases some high-stakes moments that would make many people believe this is a planned conclusion.

Given the way the cast has reacted to the news, it certainly seems like these final two episodes were constructed to set up a potential third season.

What we can tell from the clip is that Cory allowed the God Account to be destroyed thanks to the virus, meaning that the gang has just one friend suggestion remaining.

On a show filled with happy moments, it's hard to imagine the account not being restored in some capacity.

Then again, a wild development could have been planned to shake the show up for a potential third season.

God Friended Me star Brandon Micheal Hall is opening up for the first time about the series’ cancellation by CBS.

During a live Q&a Thursday on Instagram, Hall said he and other cast members learned of the decision just a couple of days ago and it has been difficult to deal with the suddenness of it all. But, he said he was grateful for the past two years that he’d worked on the show. He also said he was appreciative of all the support and receptiveness by fans.

After “having a couple days to stew” on God Friended Me‘s cancellation, the CBS’ drama’s leading man, Brandon Micheal Hall, is breaking his silence about the show’s demise.

In a live Instagram Q&a with fans on Thursday, the actor maintained that CBS’ decision earlier this week to end the series with Season 2 was “completely out of our control” and “a hard pill to swallow.” But after “swallowing the pill a couple of days ago, I was able to reflect… about the time spent the past two years working on this show, and… I’m [so] grateful.

Violett Beane, who starred as Cara Bloom on CBS’ God Friended Me, has taken to Instagram to share her feelings of sadness about the cancellation of the series and to say thank you to fans.

Beginning with “Disclaimer: Sadness :( Beane writes “Unfortunately this is the end of the road for the god squad. We found out yesterday that our show will not be continuing for a third season.”
