Tushar is a screenwriter who has written Marathi, Hindi, and English feature films. He began his journey in filmmaking by creating his own short films and assisting National Award-winning Marathi filmmakers Sumitra Bhave, Sunil Sukathankar, Sachin Kundalkar, and Sandeep Sawant. He completed his post-graduate course in Screenplay writing from FTII, Pune in 2011 where he also taught in the screenwriting department. His first feature film is the critically acclaimed Killa which won many awards including the Crystal Bear award at the Berlin International Film Festival and a National Award for the Best Marathi film. Tushar has also written the script for an English-Spanish feature film which is to be directed by Mohsen Makhmalbaf, a veteran Iranian filmmaker. Tushar's Hindi feature treatment Eiffel was among the top 10 treatments selected by the Screenwriter's Association (SWA) to apply for the prestigious script development fund by MPA-APSA in 2017. His most recent release was the critically acclaimed film Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui, which attempts to present a never-before-seen love story that also raises unsettling questions about society's tainted notions of love. For Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui, Tushar received the Filmfare Award for 'Best Original Story' alongside Supratik Sen and Abhishek Kapoor, as well as the Screenwriters Association award for 'Best Story' alongside Supratik Sen. He is currently working on an original horror feature project.
