Marcelo is an actor-musician, singer-songwriter and film composer. He's known for fronting the alternative rock band, The Vone and for his role as Rio in CBBC's Andy and the Band. He trained at the International College of Musical Theatre and has a degree in Performing Arts from Anglia Ruskin University. Marcelo is Brazilian-Portuguese and was born and raised in Lisbon. He learned music from his great-grandfather, Zé Carlos Medeiros, a prominent musician in Rio de Janeiro's MPB music scene. As a film composer, he started his journey writing for short films at university. Recently he's written the original score for 2 short films for Manchester based film company "All Mixed Up Productions". One of those films, "Imagine if Black Boys Just Smiled at Each Other", which is a collaboration with Channel 4, won the Best Short Film award at Boundless Film Festival 2023.
