"Show me who you are." Samuel Goldwyn Films has released a second official trailer for a crime thriller titled Ecco, or Ecco, the feature directorial debut of filmmaker Ben Medina. We posted another trailer for this back in 2019, but it's just now getting a VOD release hence a new trailer. Ecco is about a former assassin named Michael, living a new life in the shadows with his family, who emerges from hiding to discover the origin of his lethal beginnings. To protect his family and to pursue his only chance at redemption, he must hunt those running the organization that once used to control him. Lathrop Walker stars, with Tabitha Bastien, Helena Grace Donald, Mahria Zook, S. Joe Downing, Mark Sehlbach, plus Michael Winters. This doesn't look as bad as so many other action films recently - might actually be worth a watch. Here's the second official trailer for Ben Medina's film Ecco,...

Indican Pictures will distribute Jonathan Holbrook's Beloved Beast. To show in theatres and on Digital platforms, Beloved Beast takes a note from John Carpenter's Halloween (1979) as a deranged individual escapes from a local mental hospital. On the loose, this strange character goes on a murder spree, in a small town. Beloved Beast stars: Meredith Binder (The Oregonian), Tabitha Bastien (The Wonderland Murders), Sheila Houlahan and Lance Carver. A trailer and the artwork are here ahead of the film's October release. The official synopsis mentions another character, Nina (Sanae Loutsis). Only twelve years old, Nina invites this lunatic into her home, only to find her Aunt Erma has gone missing, shortly after. Now, Nina is alone with this murderer, with nowhere to escape to. Beloved Beast is nearly three hours along. Set to show on October 11th, this title will show in several theatres, across the United States. In Los Angeles,...

It takes a very long time for the protagonist of “Ecco” — or its viewers, for that matter — to figure out just who (or what) he is. This espionage/fugitive tale in the “Bourne” mode, albeit with less emphasis on physical action, also “echoes” films like “Memento” and “The Prestige” in its convoluted, puzzle-like narrative. But there’s more repetition and ponderousness than compelling intrigue in the end result here. The biggest mystery about this polished but underwhelming thriller is how in this day and age a starless feature from filmmakers without a track record managed to open on 200-odd U.S. screens. That’s a major leap of faith unlikely to be rewarded by much box-office traffic.
The opening setpiece has a private planeload of a shadowy corporation’s board members meeting a collective premature end at the hands of a pilot, who parachutes out before letting the vessel crash.

"I had to make sure that they'd never find us again..." Citadel Films has debuted an official trailer for an indie crime thriller titled Ecco, or Ecco, the feature directorial debut of filmmaker Ben Medina. Ecco is about a former assassin named Michael, living a new life in the shadows with his family, who emerges from hiding to discover the origin of his lethal beginnings. To protect his family and to pursue his only chance at redemption, he must hunt those behind the organization where all his sins were born. Lathrop Walker stars as Michael, with a cast including Tabitha Bastien, Helena Grace Donald, Mahria Zook, S. Joe Downing, Mark Sehlbach, and Michael Winters. These kind of assassin vengeance thrillers as a dime a dozen these days, but this looks pretty damn good. At least there's some style to it! Might be worth a watch. Here's the first official trailer...

I genuinely, and I mean genuinely try to like every film I watch. And unfortunately not for altruistic reasons. I find myself very busy some days and I can’t stand wasting my time on anything that’s not worth my time. So whenever I watch a film, whenever I agree to review one, I try to locate each least one thing I like or love about a film. And it’s usually not hard.
Then there’s The Anatomy of Monsters.
I don’t like this film. I don’t hate it, but I can’t say I like it either. Don’t get me wrong director/writer Byron C. Miller is trying super hard here, and it shows. He and his writing partner Paul Morgan have crafted a sustainable idea. Not a nice one, but one you wouldn’t go run screaming from if pressured. This issue is...

The Dead Next Door: Ultimate Edition
• Release Date: Available Now on Blu-ray
• Written By: J.R. Bookwalter
• Directed By: J.R. Bookwalter
• Starring: Pete Ferry, Bogdan Pecic, Michael Grossi
As a young horror hound, I was inundated with stills and stories about an upcomin’ zombie bomb that was sure to make all of us Evil Dead-lovin’ psychos positively explode with gorish-glee! That flick, The Dead Next Door, never seemed to materialize. Well, flash forward four years, and ol’ Tdnd sails through a stormy sea of financial and production to reach its completion, with a gentle nudge from Sam Raimi’s wallet (Master Cylinder my arse), in 1989. Finally gore-mets were served their bloody buffet!
And what a smorgasbord it is, my fiends! We follow the adventures of a government sanctioned zombie kill squad in a walking-dead-ravaged apocalypse as they travel to Ohio...

A new trailer has arrived for Harbinger Down ahead of the film's release tomorrow. Also in this round-up: a new teaser trailer for Cherry Tree, The Barn Indiegogo campaign, and DVD release details for horror-thriller Run, Hide, Die.
Harbinger Down: "A group of grad students have booked passage on the fishing trawler Harbinger to study the effects of global warming on a pod of Orcas in the Bering Sea. When the ship’s crew dredges up a recently thawed piece of old Soviet space wreckage, things get downright deadly. It seems that the Russians experimented with tardigrades, tiny resilient animals able to withstand the extremes of space radiation. The creatures survived, but not without a mutation. Now the crew is exposed to aggressively mutating organisms. And after being locked in ice for three decades, the creatures aren’t about to give up the warmth of human companionship.
