Tom was as an actor in Los Angeles from 2006 through 2013. In that time, he studied with The Groundlings, Second City - Hollywood, the Will Wallace Acting Company, Lesly Kahn, Sara Mornell, and Jonathan Slavin. Tom performed in an 18 month run of "Second City This Week" at Second City Hollywood and at SketchFest 2011 in Chicago. He became a union actor, had various representation, did some commercial work, and gained some various uncredited television performances. Tom's best memories of his time in Los Angeles lie in experiences of collaboration with friends on original work. Tom is a graduate of New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, where he attended The Experimental Theater Wing and Stonestreet Film and Television.
Tom has since received a master's degree in secondary education, and he is working as a drama and English teacher at an American high school in Ecuador. While obtaining his degree, he traveled to Cape Town, South Africa and became certified in teaching English as a foreign language while working with refugees from the Democratic Republic of Congo.
