Here's something for your post-Halloween hangover. Imagine, it's 1985 and instead of Season of the Witch the filmmakers behind the budding Halloween series decided to stick with The Shape and deliver a third installment featuring Michael Myers.
We've got the trailer!
Actor Lane Hughes (You're Next, V/H/S, A Horrible Way to Die) teamed with director Jay Burleson to create a retro trailer envisioning what Halloween: Harvest of Souls would have looked like. Kudos to the gang for coming up with something that actually looks like a 20-year old VHS trailer. They've even got a cool tale explaining the history of their Halloween 3 to go along with it. Read the backstory and take a peek at the video.

As Wingard recalls, he...

Django Unchained | The Sessions | Everyday | V/H/S | The Wee Man | Ballroom Dancer | Monsters Inc 3D
Django Unchained (18)
(Quentin Tarantino, 2012, Us) Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz, Leonardo DiCaprio, Samuel L Jackson, Kerry Washington. 165 mins
Few directors would have the imagination, the guts or the resources to reimagine America's slaving past as a spaghetti western/blaxploitation thriller, but the result is Tarantino's most politically provocative movie, and one of his most entertaining – up to a point. Foxx's odyssey from captive slave to mythical avenger, enabled by Waltz's liberal German "dentist", is often an exhilarating ride, though the action is constantly slowed up by Tarantino's love of his own dialogue – if only he'd kept that chained in.
The Sessions (15)
(Ben Lewin, 2012, Us) John Hawkes, Helen Hunt, William H Macy. 93 mins
Severely disabled man seeks first–time sexual experience. It doesn't sound too promising but there are plenty of riches in this open–hearted drama: the performances,...

Today a new promo poster for V/H/S, a horror anthology featuring horror shorts from directors Adam Wingard (A Horrible Way to Die), Glenn McQuaid (I Sell the Dead), Radio Silence (a group of directors including Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, Tyler Gillett, Justin Martinez, and Chad Villella), David Bruckner (The Signal), Joe Swanberg, and Ti West (The Innkeepers, The House of the Devil), has been released.
In the film a group of criminals are hired to break into a country home and retrieve a mysterious video tape. Every tape that they watch is more evil and sinister than the one before. The found footage style shows well so far in the V/H/S trailer. It sounded like a simple job but upon entering the house, they find a rotting corpse next to the huge assortment of scary videos. You have to see the trailer as it may be the scariest trailer of 2012 so far.

Watch a new clip from Magnolia's super-scary V/H/S, starring Calvin Reeder, Lane Hughes, Adam Wingard and Hannah Fierman. Also, we've got James Stokoe's comic artwork included below, which is quite...different should I say. V/H/S is a Pov, found footage horror film from the perspective of America's top genre filmmakers. In the film, a group of misfits are hired by an unknown third party to burglarize a desolate house in the countryside and acquire a rare tape. Upon searching the house, the guys are confronted with a dead body, a hub of old televisions and an endless supply of cryptic footage, each video stranger and more inexplicable than the last... V/H/S is available on demand Now, but if you're keen to catch the R-rated film in theaters rather, for that bigscreen scare thrill, then you'd have to wait until October 5th.

This is a distribution company that has brought horror film fans Atrocious (2010) and The Woman (2011). Their latest is a found footage horror anthology composed of six short films. Chillerama (2011) is another memorable horror anthology that focused on sexual humour. Here, the film focuses more on extreme horror. There is a lot of gore in this piece, nudity and even some comedy. And like most anthologies, some of the shorts work, while others simply.

Watch the red band trailer for V/H/S starring Calvin Reeder and Lane Hughes The film tells of a group of petty criminals who are hired by a mysterious party to retrieve a rare piece of found footage from a rundown house in the middle of nowhere, and soon realize that the job isn’t going to be as easy as they thought. In the living room, a lifeless body holds court before a hub of old television sets, surrounded by stacks upon stacks of VHS tapes. As they search for the right one, they are treated to a seemingly endless number of horrifying videos, each stranger than the last. Adam Wingard, Hannah Fierman, Mike Donlan, Joe Sykes, Drew Sawyer and Jas Sams also star in the film. V/H/S has been highly praised and lots of talk of the film being a hit but something was missing until today, a trailer. Check out the trailer for V/H/S below and let us know what you think. V/H/S screened at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival to positive reception, and given the talent affixed to this project, that really comes as no surprise. Directorial credits are lengthy, and boast the likes of Adam Wingard (You're Next), Glenn McQuaid (I Sell the Dead), Radio Silence, David Bruckner (The Signal), Joe Swanberg (Autoerotic), and Ti West (The House of the Devil). Calvin Reeder (The Oregonian), Lane Hughes (A Horrible Way to Die), Adam Wingard, Hannah Fierman (The Vampire Diaries), Mike Donlan, Joe Sykes and Jas Sams star.

The South by Southwest (SXSW) Film Conference and Festival has announced the highly anticipated features in its Midnighters section, as well as the complete short films lineup, which will debut at this year’s Festival from March 9-17, 2012 in Austin, Texas.
The eleven films announced in the 2012 Midnighters program include a feast of titles that promise to rouse, haunt, and thrill the eager SXSW late-night audiences with an eclectic mix of thrills from genre filmmakers at the top of their game.
“Though our regular program already includes a healthy sampling of genre fare, the Midnighters section highlights those that go a bit crazier, gorier, and all-around balls out-ier,” said SXSW Senior Programmer and Operations Manager Jarod Neece. “This year's program includes both veteran names with anticipated follow-ups and fresh discoveries with new voices and charts otherworldly, insane territories that breathe new life into horror conventions.”

Joe Swanberg and Adam Wingard's film Autoerotic focuses on four heterosexual couples as they contend with relationship-crippling sexual arousal issues; however, Autoerotic is not always about self-arousal. Structured in four mostly autonomous vignettes (all with unnamed thespians): the first and fourth chapters reveal perverse men who are grasping at straws to achieve sexual satisfaction, whether it be the desire for a significantly larger penis or a usable mold of an ex-girlfriend's vagina; the second and third...

Title: Autoerotic Directors: Joe Swanberg and Adam Wingard Starring: Kate Lyn Sheil, Amy Seimetz, Lane Hughes, Kris Swanberg, Ti West, Frank Ross, Megan Mercier A darkly comedic anthology look at the sexual confusion, appetite, insecurity and frustration of a group of modern-day Chicago couples, Autoerotic is an at once breezy and deadpan little indie film that doesn’t overstay its welcome but instead delivers a few pin-prick precision assaults on both masculine and feminine foibles and preoccupations, and then skitters away, pleased and laughing quietly to itself. It’s a subversive, mumblecore-type exploration of the boundaries of self-pleasure, and a nice little cinematic aperitif that could slot nicely with any number of tonier Hollywood explorations of lust...

This upside down poster for A Horrible Way to Die reminds artists to use the flip feature on your graphics, as character Sarah (Amy Seimetz) looks for the right way up. A Horrible Way to Die will release on DVD and Blu-Ray September 6th (Dread) and here is your early look at this skewed project. Anchor Bay Entertainment will help satiate your horror appetite with this thriller, once Sarah gets cut down.
The synopsis for A Horrible Way to Die is here:

But wait, isn’t every way a horrible way to die? After all, you’re dying. That kinda sucks. Anyways, Adam Wingard’s new slasher movie “A Horrible Way to Die” is apparently one of those shaky cam horror movies, where the camera doesn’t seem to ever stay still even if someone onscreen is just pouring coffee or sipping tea. Which must be a hard thing to accomplish nowadays, what with all the steadicam and whatnot. But I digress. In “A Horrible Way to Die”, an escaped murderer pursues his ex-girlfriend to a new town, where she has fled to start a new life. Alas, that’s easier said than done. He is an escaped murderer, after all. Dude didn’t just already kill, he actually escaped prison, too. Clever fella. The film stars Aj Bowen , Joe Swanberg, Amy Seimetz, Brandon Carroll, Lane Hughes, and is directed by Adam Wingard.
