A few months back, I reviewed a direct to DVD horror release called The Last Resort. Stuck for words about the film’s confusing plot and shaky logic, I started pontificating about the differences between this generation’s direct-to-dvd horror releases and their spiritual heirs, the low-budget sci-fi films of the fifties. I commented that something sincere had been lost between now and then, and now, with The Hills Run Red, I have had that idea exemplified in a way far more eloquent than I stated then. It’s not that the movie is especially good, because it isn’t, but in its aspirations towards wit and its slavish devotion to the slasher films of yesteryear, it reveals more about the gradual shift in horror’s values than an essay or review probably ever could.

Arriving on DVD September 29, the story centers on a film fanatic whose obsession with finding a complete print of an infamous slasher movie leads him and two friends into the backwoods where the film was shot. The upcoming direct-to-disc horror flick, Wrong Turn 3: Left for Dead, now has a gore-filled red band trailer. Directed by Declan O'Brien, the film arrives on DVD and Blu-Ray later this year and stars Tom Frederic, Janet Montgomery, Tamer Hassan, Gil Kolirin, Bill Moody, Mike Straub, Chucky Venice and Tom McKay. It pretty much follows the same plot as the previous Wrong Turn’s - a group of people find themselves trapped in the backwoods of West Virginia, fighting for their lives against a group of vicious and horribly disfigured inbred cannibals.

Are you guys excited for tis? I know I am! "While Fox had journalists on set for the filming of Wrong Turn 2, this time filming went quietly underneath everyones noses. In fact, the third film in the franchise is 100% finished."...Continued...

In addition to the announcement we made here a few weeks ago, we now have an updates cast listing for Fox Home Entertainment's upcoming DVD sequel Wrong Turn 3. Now starring are Tom Frederic (The Oxford Murders), Janet Montgomery (The Hills Run Red), Tamer Hassan, Gil Kolirin, Mike Straub and Chucky Venice (Return to House on Haunted Hill), according to IMDb. Filming is now underway in Sofia, Bulgaria. Fonda and her friends go to the woods for a couple of days. Her friends are killed by the wild, now staple mutant killer, Three Finger, who of course cannibalizes them. She is left to fend for herself, but not for long. Meanwhile some dangerous prisoners are being transferred by Nate Wilson, a prison warden, on his last day before leaving to become a lawyer.
