Jackrabbit Media is presenting the supernatural horror film Baby Blue to potential international distributors at the European Film Market. Directed by Adam Mason, the movie is already set to receive a North American release from XYZ Film sometime this spring.

Mason wrote the screenplay with Simon Boyes, crafting the story of a group of teens who stumble across the story of the dead serial killer Baby Blue. Jackrabbit Media will begin sales talks at EFM this week on supernatural horror Baby Blue, ScreenDaily reports this morning. Additionally, the website reports that Baby Blue will get its North American release via XYZ Films this coming Spring.

We still don’t know when Play Dead, the morgue-set thriller from Patrick Lussier, director of My Bloody Valentine 3D (watch it Here) and Drive Angry (watch that one Here), is going to be released in the US… but we do know when it’s going to be released in the UK. Screen Daily reports that Icon Film Distribution has acquired the UK distribution rights to the film and will be making it available to watch exclusively on the Icon Film Channel as of February 13th. Bailee Madison (The Strangers: Prey at Night) stars alongside Jerry O’Connell (Piranha 3D), and we’ve learned via Screen Daily that the film will first debut on the UK’s Icon Film Channel on February 13, followed by a UK theatrical release on March 17.

With one key exception, “Blood Moon” doesn’t really try to hide anything. The final Season 2 installment of the Hulu feature-length anthology series “Into the Dark” is even more stripped down than many of its other counterparts. It’s admirable, considering its ostensible main hook. But this is one of the collection’s better efforts because of how much it resists the expectations that come with it.

In a release plan fitting for a movie about a deadly pandemic that’s forced everyone into lockdown, STX’s sci-fi thriller “Songbird” won’t play in theaters and instead will debut on home entertainment.

Starting on Dec. 11, audiences can rent the film for $19.99 for a 48-hour period. STX said “Songbird” will land on a streaming service following its premium video-on-demand run, but the studio declined to disclose which one.

“The pandemic has affected every aspect of our business, from production to release, but ‘Songbird’ demonstrates that a nimble studio like STX can find effective and profitable ways to make their movies work,” said STXfilms Motion Picture Group chairman Adam Fogelson. “The show must go on. ‘Songbird’ is a thrilling movie that will speak to audiences in this moment as it keeps them on the edge of their seats.”

On Thursday, the first trailer for the pandemic thriller showed a world trapped in lockdown for four years, reaching 8.4 million deaths in a single year. The movie takes place in 2024 and stars K.J. Apa and Sofia Carson, who play a couple separated by the pandemic and living under martial law. Apa’s character claims to be immune from the virus, which may help him as he searches for his girlfriend, who is forced to evacuate her apartment after her neighbor contracts the virus.

“It’s a dystopian, scary world, but it’s a romantic movie about two people who want to be together, but they can’t,” director Adam Mason told Entertainment Weekly. “It’s ‘Romeo and Juliet,’ but they’re separated by her front door and by the virus.”

The performers union made the announcement Friday on its web site, a day after telling its members not work on the project: “SAG-AFTRA has rescinded its Do Not Work order for the feature film ‘Songbird, produced by On a Lark Productions, LLC, and members are free to work on this production effective immediately.”

SAG-AFTRA did not elaborate. “Songbird” had been announced in mid-May as a low-budget production that would shoot in Los Angeles. SAG-AFTRA had said on Thursday the company had failed to complete the signatory process and was not signed to any applicable SAG-AFTRA agreement and a spokesperson had asserted that he producers had not been transparent about their safety protocols, adding, “That is something we obviously take very seriously.”

SAG-AFTRA had also warned members Thursday that they could be disciplined if they worked on “Songbird.
