An independent filmmaker based in NYC, Ian Markiewicz co-directed the cult punk rock documentary Better Than Something: Jay Reatard and his most recent film, the action-packed wrestling documentary Lucha Mexico, that was on Netflix, Starz Network and screened theatrically in the US and Mexico.
Ian enjoyed a long-standing creative partnership with legendary filmmaker Albert Maysles, working as Director, Editor and Producer on several projects, including The Love We Make (with Paul McCartney), Rolling Stones: Get Yer Ya Ya Out! 40th Anniversary Show! , Muhammad and Larry for ESPN's 30 For 30 series, and The Beales of Grey Gardens. He was also editor on the Grammy award winning film Charlie Is My Darling. His work has screened at the New York Film Festival, Toronto Film Festival, among others, and been featured by Netflix, ABC, ESPN, ABKCO, Showtime, The Criterion Collection and more.
