Some of Hollywood’s best and brightest stars walked the red carpet at the world premiere of The Color Purple on Wednesday night (December 6) in Los Angeles.
The movie’s stars – including Fantasia Barrino, Taraji P. Henson, Halle Bailey, Ciara and H.E.R. -arrived at Academy Museum of Motion Pictures dressed in their chicest outfits.
They were joined by so many other celebrities, who showed support at the big event. The guestlist included Oprah Winfrey (who acted as a producer for the movie), Ariana DeBose, Chloe Bailey, Quinta Brunson and so many others.

Common has announced A Beautiful Revolution Pt. 2, the follow-up album to 2020’s A Beautiful Revolution Pt. 1. The album is is available for preorder now ahead of its September 10th release date.

The Capitol Music Group held its fifth annual Capitol Congress at the Arclight Theater in Hollywood on Wednesday, highlighted by a daylong session of product presentations, panels, musical performances and a live podcast featuring Paul McCartney and “Wtf” host and “Glow” star Marc Maron. The summit was capped off with a party on the back lot of the Capitol Tower complete with requisite food trucks, open bars, DJs and plenty of industry schmooze.
Capitol Music Group Chairman/CEO Steve Barnett greeted the crowd, before introducing Umg Chairman/CEO Lucian Grainge, who marveled at the label’s growth since being acquired by Universal in 2011 as part of its purchase of Emi. Grainge stated: “As much as our industry keeps changing and as much as we have led its transformation, one thing remains completely unchanged… that we are the world’s best partner for artists.”

An all-star cast of local female hip-hop talent, including rapper Mae Day, will be converging at Detroit's Tangent Gallery next week to celebrate a local collective dedicated to raising the profile of women in the local scene. The show is a fourth anniversary bash for The Foundation of 5eGallery, an organization that hosts weekly gatherings at a local hip-hop community space to encourage and empower Detroit's female artists.
Day, a hip-hop lyricist who's adept at balancing hardcore rap with a soulful sound, will headline the event. She has a powerful voice that's been belting out rhymes for a nearly a decade at stages as varied as St. Andrew's Hall in Detroit, The Palms Hotel of Las Vegas and the South by Southwest Music Conference in Austin, Texas.
Beloved Detroit soul singer Monica Blaire will be there, as well, to reunite with her former group, the all-female indie/funk band Lola Valley.
