Roots of My Platter

For those who are fond of cooking and enjoy delicious food but are conscious about their health, then this show can be a best option to watch and try traditional cuisines across India in your kitchen.

Hosted by actress Shruti Seth, the cookery show brings chef Manu Chandra, who will be seen trying his hand on different Indian dishes and also sharing how one can prepare healthy and tasty food.

‘Roots of My Platter’ will be starting from August 21 on Discovery channel at 5 pm.

At a time when limited series on Ott seem to be re-shaping audience viewing patterns, a few soaps have still managed to hold sway for over a decade. There is a large section of the TV audience that still get their daily dose of entertainment from the longest running shows on small screen.

Shows such as Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, Saath Nibhana Saathiya and Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah have clocked in more than 10 years and are still going strong where the TRPs are concerned. This week, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai raked in a Trp of 3.0, while Saath Nibhaana Saathiya 2 got 2.9. Tarak Mehta ka Oolta Chashma secured 2.3.

Saath Nibhana Saathiya producer Rashmi Sharma says that it is challenging to keep a show relevant for so many years.

"It is difficult to sustain but when you have a strong team, good story line and talented actors, it becomes easy.

Actress Rupal Patel, best known for playing Kokila in the daily soap Saath Nibhaana Saathiya, is happy to explore the comedy genre.

She recently shot for the comedy show "Gangs Of Filmistaan", which features comedians Sunil Grover, Siddharth Sagar and Sanket Bhosale.

"I am impressed by all the artistes of 'Gangs of Filmistaan'. When I got the opportunity to perform with them, I took it because I wanted to work with them. The second reason is that I am a National School of Drama graduate. I have been taught that an artiste should play different roles and should be versatile. So when I got the opportunity to be a part of a comedy show, I could not say no," Rupal told Ians.

"I have been doing daily soaps for so many years. By God's grace, I have got serious and powerful roles and strong characters, due to which there was less chance of exploring comedy.

After Bigg Boss 13, actress Devoleena Bhattacharjee is all set to come back on the small screen with the second season of her popular daily soap Saath Nibhana Saathiya 2.

For the show, the actress has also reunited with her 'Maa ji' aka actress Rupal Patel who played the role of Kokilaben Modi in the show. The duo was in news recently when their popular dialogues from the show were converted into a rap song and went viral. Devoleena recently took to Instagram to share a picture with Rupal and left the fans excited. 

In the picture, Devoleena can be seen donning a peach coloured saree while Rupal Patel is seen in her typical Kokila avatar. The actress is seen in a bright orange saree with over-the-top jewellery and huge bindi. Devoleena wrote, "swagat nahi karoge humara."

Star Plus’ popular TV show ‘Saath Nibhaana Saathiya’ garnered immense popularity and love from its viewers since the launch of its first season in 2010.

Viewers will soon witness intriguing twists and turns as the show makes a comeback with its second season. While Devoleena Bhattacharjee and Rupal Patel will reprise the roles of Gopi, Kokilaben, respectively, Mohammad Nazim aka Ahem to surprise the audience with a double role act.

Well yes, you read right! Mohammad Nazim will dawn the look of both Ahem and Jaggi this time. Ahem’s lookalike Jaggi which has been introduced in the first season will once again be reemphasized and play an important part in the upcoming storyline.
