Star Wars sequel trilogy star Daisy Ridley is swapping a lightsaber for an axe for her first foray into the horror genre.
Ahead of its world premiere at Australia's Adelaide Film Festival this November, Variety has shared the first official stills from new zombie survival thriller We Bury The Dead.
Written and directed by Zak Hilditch, the movie stars Ridley as a woman named Ava who is searching for her husband in the aftermath of a catastrophic military experiment that has decimated the population of Tasmania.
Ava joins a “body retrieval unit” in a desperate attempt to find out what happened to her husband, and ends up being tasked with burying the corpses. However, she soon comes to realize that some of the bodies aren't quite as dead as they should be.
Seemingly unfazed by the emerging supernatural threat, Ava takes up an axe and begins to dispose of the...

Detective Darcy (Kym Jackson) has a violent encounter with the possessed in our exclusive clip from Padraig Reynolds's The Devil's Dolls, coming out in select theaters and on VOD and digital platforms today from IFC Midnight.
"A serial killer’s curse unleashes a season of slaughter in the backwoods of Mississippi. According to an ancient Guatemalan tradition, parents teach their children to allay their troubles by telling them to handmade “worry dolls” just before bedtime. But when several of these talismans—which once belonged to a notorious mass murderer—find their way into the hands of unsuspecting residents of a small Southern town, it sets off a grisly wave of bloodshed. The latest from Rites of Spring director Padraig Reynolds is a voodoo-slasher shocker bursting with scarily inventive kills. Christopher Wiehl, Kym Jackson, and Tina Lifford star.
The Devil's Dolls opens September 16th in select theaters, VOD, and via digital platforms from IFC Midnight.

Thanks for taking the time to answer some questions for us, Padraig. What attracted you to the story of The Devil’s Dolls?
Padraig Reynolds: I’m a big fan of voodoo films such as Serpent and the Rainbow and Venom. So when I read The Devil’s Dolls, I thought it would be a great opportunity to do something fresh and exciting in a genre that not too many movies are made about.
Christopher Wiehl co-wrote, produced, and stars in the film. What was it like working with Wiehl, who seemed very invested in the character of Matt?...

It’s been quite some time since I saw Padraig Reynolds’ debut feature Rites of Spring back at Glasgow Frightfest 2012 and since then Reynolds has been pretty silent on the directing front. However, being a huge fan of that film there was no way I was passing up the chance to see yet another slice of Reynolds’ particular style of Southern Gothic.
Much like Rites of Spring mixed genres, taking in crime drama and traditional stalk and slash horror, by way of Southern horror like Jeepers Creepers; Worry Dolls mixes old-school voodoo with the tropes of classic 80s slashers (yes, this is yet Another Frightfest movie to utilise the sterotypes of the slasher genre) in a tale that – like Last Girl Standing...

Udo Kier has worked with the likes of Lars Von Trier, Gus Van Sant, and Rob Zombie. He’s portrayed Dracula (and assorted other vamps), Hitler, and Jekyll and is still going strong after over three decades of acting, his latest role being in Nazis-on-the-moon horror-comedy Iron Sky.
Some would say it’s his piercing blue eyes and thick accent that cement Kier’s presence as deliciously memorable regardless of the size of the part. I would also say it's his unique presence, the way he moves with such elegance and a dash of old world, unearthly sexuality and a twinkle of humor.
This time around we find Kier on the dark side of the moon playing Nazi leader Wolfgang Kortzfleisch. The movie takes place in 2018, in a world with a political landscape much like our own, filled with propaganda, global infighting, and a race for new fuel. Little does...

If moon Nazis were people, they’d be old men sitting on their porch yelling at kids to stay off their lawn while waving their double-barrel shotgun around in the air. Here’s the first 5 minutes from director Timo Vuorensola’s delightfully ridiculous looking movie “Iron Sky”, which recently made its North American premiere at SXSW down there in Austin aways. World War II did not end with complete defeat for the Nazis – some of them managed to utilize their secret technologies to flee to the dark side of the Moon. There, deep within their swastika fortress, Schwarze Sonne, they have plotted the reconquest of the Earth for over 70 years. In 2018, the flagship of their space armada, the gigantic Götterdämmerung, is nearing completion, but when the next American crewed moon mission lands too close to the Nazi base for comfort, the plans are rushed forward. Kiss From Calcutta is a thirty-two minute short from director Christopher Drews and writer Jacob Gentry. A darkly themed film Kiss is suspenseful, but also frustrating as some of the film is left unexplained, all the way to the end. The excellent visual imagery and an interesting story make the film recommendable, but a little more time could have been spent developing the characters, and storyline.
The film is centrally a tragic love story between characters Pete (Jacob Gentry), and Ashley (Kym Jackson). However, Ashley is an assassin and Pete is a coke addict; so, this is a relationship in trouble from the get-go. Add in a greater criminal element, and things quickly deteriorate between these two flawed and desperate human beings. But what about the unexplained elements in the film?

Writer/director Jed Strahm got in touch to tell us about his new chiller Knifepoint, which just wrapped principal photography, and serve up some exclusive pics (see them below). It’s a vicious home-invasion film revolving around Abbie (Katherine Randolph) and her wheelchair-bound sister, Michele (Krista Braun). On Christmas Eve, their apartment is broken into by Jess (Grant Reynolds), his sister Lorraine (Kym Jackson) and their host of criminal followers. When the girls’ parents arrive as a holiday surprise, however, the situation further spirals out of control. Leatherface’s R.A. Mihailoff co-stars; Toolbox Murders’ Dean Jones created the makeup FX.
Strahm tells Fango that, like many genre projects, Knifepoint had its inspiration in its creator’s own worst fears. “The story stemmed from my greatest dread: awakening in the middle of the night to discover that someone has entered my home and is looming over my bed. My feeling is...
