Fatone will play the role of Lance beginning January 21, 2025. He’ll play a limited 9-week engagement in & Juliet through March 16, 2025, taking over the role from Tony Award-winner (and original Broadway cast member) Paulo Szot.
“I’m excited that I’ll be joining the cast of & Juliet!,” Fatone said in a statement. “I can’t wait to get out there and sing Max Martin’s amazing songs – his hits have shaped so much of pop music. In a recent thread on Reddit that appeared in the run-up to the 10th Coldplay album, a poster asked, “Will new [Coldplay] album be a return to their roots or more commercial fluff?” Such a distinction might seem a bit odd considering that Coldplay’s early-2000s “roots” involved sculpting 1990s Radiohead and 1980s U2 into soft-rock valentines. But the Coldplay purist had a point. One can imagine a fan of “Clocks” or “Yellow” or “The Scientist” feeling a bit adrift amid the shiny elation of the band’s last album,...

Some of Bon Jovi’s classic rock songs are everywhere. However, the “You Give Love a Bad Name” band’s songs don’t inspire the sort of analysis that other groups do. We are going to break the rules a little and cunt down the five best Bon Jovi songs.
5. ‘Bed of Roses’
Every metal band needs to get a little soft and sweet from time to time. A “bed of roses” is usually a metaphor for a life of ease. Here. Bon Jovi use the term literally. If roses on the sheets sound like a good Valentine’s Day, then this is the hit song for you.
The context is interesting as well. “Bed of Roses” was a hit on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1993. Even after Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” kicked off the grunge revolution of 1992, Bon Jovi were still going strong — commercially and artistically.

Last week, Abel Tesfaye revealed the title and cover of his upcoming sixth studio album, Hurry Up Tomorrow, the follow-up to 2022’s Dawn FM and the final part of a trilogy that began with 2020’s After Hours. The first single from the album, “Dancing in the Flames,” dropped tonight, accompanied by a music video shot entirely on the latest iPhone, part of a promotional deal with Apple.
For the Weeknd, “Dancing in the Flames” marks a turn back toward a lighter pop sound following the more R&b-inflected singles used to promote The Idol, Sam Levinson and Tesfaye’s short-lived HBO series. Produced by Max Martin and Oscar Holter, the creative team behind “Blinding Lights,” the synth-pop track finds the singer once again associating romantic longing with the risk of physical danger: “I can’t wait to see your face/Crash when we’re switching lanes/My love’s beyond the pain.

Katy Perry’s album 143, which is out Sept. 20, has been a long time coming, marking her first LP since 2020’s Smile. The singer officially launched her 143 era in June when she dropped the lead single “Woman’s World.” The song immediately faced pushback for its stereotypical imagery — which Perry later said was intentional — and generic pop sound. Rolling Stone later confirmed that Perry had worked with some of the producers behind Teenage Dream and Prism, including Max Martin — and, to the disappointment of many, Dr. Luke.
Perry followed “Woman’s World” with the electro-pop single “Lifetimes.

Adele‘s “Someone like You” is one of the most moving pop ballads of all time. Some fans of the “Rolling in the Deep” singer don’t understand that “Someone like You” was meant to be ironic. Interestingly, “Someone like You” sent a ridiculous amount of time on the British charts.
A 1990s rock star helped Adele write ‘Someone like You’
Adele co-wrote “Someone like You” with Dan Wilson. Wilson was a member of the 1990s band Semisonic, which is most known for their ballad “Closing Time.” He’s one of many essential songwriters Adele has worked with, including pop god Max Martin, OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder, and Sia’s regular producer Greg Kurstin.
During a 2021 interview with American Songwriter, Wilson discussed the meaning of “Someone like You.” “‘Someone Like You’ is a love song from the point of view of a woman who shows up unexpectedly at her married ex’s front door,...

Back in 2010, all the stars aligned for Katy Perry as she released Teenage Dream. All six of the album’s singles were era-defining hits, and when she expanded the album two years later, those deluxe singles were hits, too. Britney Spears‘ “Lucky” is one of her best songs. Halsey reinterpreted the track in a completely different genre and changed its lyrics for the worse. It’s also not clear if Halsey can pull off a song like “Lucky” at this point in her life. While Halsey’s tribute to the Princess of Pop is commendable on some level, it’s not worth your time.
Britney Spears’ ‘Lucky’ wasn’t as narcissistic as Halsey’s song of the same name
Spears’ “Lucky” is a ballad about a girl named Lucky who cries at night despite being at the top of the Hollywood pyramid. You don’t even have to listen to the song all the way through to understand that it’s a thinly-veiled song about Spears’ life in showbiz. Of course, making the song about a fictional character prevents the track from feeling like self-pity.
It also broadens the song’s appeal.

Britney Spears‘ “If U Seek Amy” might be the most obscene song of her whole career. While Spears had received flack since the release of “…Baby One More Time,” the 2009 release “If U Seek Amy” was one of the few times she actually went too far. While Spears didn’t deserve to lose her career over the song, it was a bad idea on multiple levels.
Britney Spears’ ‘If U Seek Amy’ was a middle-school sensation for all the wrong reasons
The phrase “If U Seek Amy” doesn’t mean anything. It doesn’t make sense in the context of the song. It only makes sense if you say it fast. The line is supposed to sound like Spears is spelling out “f*** me.” It’s the sort of naughty novelty song that goes over well in middle schools.
And that’s precisely why it was a bad idea in the first place.

Glover himself described the soundtrack as a “big goodbye album” with a focus on anthemic songs. Indeed, the lead single — and Song of the Week —“Lithonia” was almost like a classic rock ballad, with a driving mid-tempo, guitar-led arrangement and an impassioned vocal part from Glover. Now, the Bando Stone soundtrack is available in full. Stream it below.

The song, co-produced by Gambino, DJ Dahi, and Kurtis McKenzie, is the latest track off his sixth and final album, Bando Stone & the New World.

Katy Perry appeared to respond to criticism about the video for her new song “Woman’s World” in a post uploaded Saturday on social media.
“Woman’s World” arrived Thursday and was immediately met with a scathing reception (for example: here, here, and here) more so for its accompanying music video — which was accused of catering to the male gaze in contrast to its empowering-if-outdated messaging — than the song (which was co-produced by Dr. Luke) itself.

Coldplay debuted their new song “Good Feelings” — likely destined for their upcoming album Moon Music — during the band’s concert in Rome, Italy on Friday.
“We fell in love in the summer/I remember baby, we felt the sun shine through/And we were born for each other,” Chris Martin sings on the track. “All the good feelings, for one another/As we danced to the radio.”
“Good Feelings” has been known to Coldplay fans for a couple years, with the track originally in the running for Moon Music’s 2021 predecessor Music of the Spheres.

Katy Perry has opened the portal to her latest studio album 143 with “Woman’s World.”
The video features Perry waterfalling a bottle of “Whisky for Women,” brandishing a hot pink vibrator, and pretending to pee in a urinal all within the first 50 seconds of the song. Elsewhere, she gets crushed under a gigantic anvil and shoves a gas nozzle into her butt to refuel. Trisha Paytas also makes a cameo, pulling a huge monster truck by a rope before driving it with Perry sitting shotgun.

Britney Spears‘ “…Baby One More Time” is the teen pop song to end all teen pop songs. It was such a crucial part of the Princess of Pop’s discography that she recycled it four different times as four different singles. Here’s a look at the pop genius who might’ve gotten a little too repetitive while he was working with Spears.
Britney Spears’ ‘…Baby One More Time’ influenced 4 more singles across 2 albums
The beat from “…Baby One More Time” is unforgettable. The mix of dance-pop, lite funk, and R&b is as potent and unmistakable now as it was in 1998. With that in mind, it’s not too surprising that Spears’ debut album has a second single that repeats that formula: “(You Drive Me) Crazy.” Arguably, the beat of the latter song is even better, as it hits a little harder.

Katy Perry is sharing another glimpse of her upcoming single “Woman’s World.” On Tuesday, the singer shared a teaser of the music video, which sees Perry dressed as Rosie the Riveter in what seems to be a women-empowering single.
“Celebrate,” sings Perry. “We ain’t going away.”
The video splices clips of Perry pouring “Whiskey for Women” into her mouth, and playing with a bedazzled hammer while wearing a toolbelt and Timberland workboot-inspired heels. Another scene flashes a close-up of Perry’s cleavage under a sparkly American Flag top she shared on Fourth of July.

Justin Timberlake‘s “Can’t Stop the Feeling!” managed to be both retro and trendy at the same time. However, the “Cry Me a River” star seemed lukewarm on “Can’t Stop the Feeling!” Regardless, the public couldn’t get enough of the track.
Why Justin Timberlake recorded ‘Can’t Stop the Feeling!’ when he didn’t want to do so
On one level, “Can’t Stop the Feeling!” is a quintessential Timberlake song. He wrote it with Max Martin, the producer behind some of the hits from Timberlake’s boy band days. It’s also a disco song. When Timberlake isn’t making R&b, he’s making dance songs. He even previously experimented with the genre with “Take Back the Night.” However, Timberlake seems distant from “Can’t Stop the Feeling!”

Remarkably few singers from the 1990s managed to adapt to the sound of 2010s music. Incredibly, Britney Spears managed to make the change with some great singles in 2011, including “I Wanna Go.” Spears said that one part of the song blew her away — it blew the world away, too.
Britney Spears’ ‘I Wanna Go’ displays the genius of 1 of her collaborators
Max Martin is a producer who has played an integral role in Spears’ career. After producing her first hit, “…Baby One More Time,” Martin went on to write numerous hits by Spears. He co-wrote “Oops!… I Did It Again,” “Lucky,” “Till the World Ends,” “Hold It Against Me,” and “If U Seek Amy.”
During a 2011 interview with Rolling Stone, Spears recalled the creation of Femme Fatale. “Max played a huge role on this album and he has been there since the beginning so there is such a huge level of trust,...

Britney Spears‘ “…Baby One More Time” is an excellent bubblegum pop song. It’s also pretty suggestive. This raises the question: How old was Spears when it came out? The star revealed what she thought of the song’s success in retrospect.
Britney Spears released ‘…Baby One More Time’ while she was underage
In her 2023 memoir The Woman in Me, Spears recalled going on a tour of malls to promote her debut single “…Baby One More Time.” “Doing that form of promotion is not much fun,” she recalled. “No one knew who I was yet. I had to try to sell myself to people who weren’t that interested.
“Before the video came out, not a lot of people knew what I looked like,” she added. “But by the end of September, the song was on the radio. I was 16 when, on October 23, 1998, the ‘…Baby One More Time’ single hit stores.

Coldplay has reportedly settled a lawsuit with ex-manager Dave Holmes, who sought $12 million in alleged unpaid commissions.
Reports indicate a seven-figure settlement with Holmes, but gave no specifics.
Holmes and Coldplay parted ways in 2022 after more than two decades together. Holmes claimed he was owed unpaid commissions for Coldplay’s tenth and 11th albums, which have yet to be released. Holmes claimed he organized recording sessions, cleared samples, and liaised with producer Max Martin before his contract dispute.
That sparked competing claims in London’s High Court, with each party seeking millions of pounds from the other.
Coldplay claimed in its counter-suit that Holmes had allowed tour costs to spiral out of control and demanded £14 million in damages.

Britney Spears‘ worst songs are sometimes inexplicable. For example, she once contributed a track to a Smurfs movie that makes no sense. Her attempt to work with fellow pop star Rihanna was also regrettable.
5. ‘S&m’
In 2011, Spears’ music was hotter than it’d been in a long time, thanks to her album Femme Fatale, which includes her hits “Hold It Against Me,” “Till the World Ends,” “I Wanna Go,” and “Criminal.” Meanwhile, Rihanna was having a career-high point as well, thanks to the popularity of her dance record Loud.
A collaboration between these two titans of pop seemed like a surefire hit and it was. Spears appeared on a remix of “S&m” that topped the Billboard Hot 100 for a single week. Sadly, Spears’ vocal performance is indescribably awful.

Britney Spears‘ “3” has a dance beat that’s so good it’s easy to ignore the lyrics. With “3,” the “… Baby One More Time” star took her sexual image to a whole new level. Here’s a look at the song and the incredible producer behind it.
Britney Spears’ ‘3’ has a risque meaning and a weird classic rock reference
Upon first listen, Spears’ “3” might sound like a Sesame Street tune about counting. In actuality, it’s about three human beings having sex with each other. It’s no “Wap,” but, as far as pop singles go, it’s still pretty daring.
Spears uses a weird metaphor in the song. She compared the three sex partners to the folk trio Peter, Paul and Mary. Considering Peter, Paul and Mary were a G-rated group, it’s unclear why the group has anything to do with the song.

Monica and Brandy reunited onscreen earlier this month for Ariana Grande’s music video “the boy is mine,” her take on their hit 1998 song of the same name.
The former artistic collaborators reunited once again on Grande’s “the boy is mine (Remix),” which was released on Friday. The updated version of the song features Monica and Brandy’s vocals and helped the singers come back together.
“The process of the new collaboration did a lot of closing the gaps,” Monica told Entertainment Tonight about working with Brandy again. “When you properly communicate something, you can find not only the resolutions and solutions to problems. But sometimes you find that there weren’t ever problems, just consistent miscommunications,” adding, “It made it a lot easier just to talk.”
Since working together on Grande’s remix, Monica noted she and Brandy have talked more in recent weeks than they had in in the last two decades.
