Crunchyroll just rolled out the English dub of ‘Dragon Ball Super!’ You can start watching at 1:00 Pm Pst today. It’s a treat for those of us who’ve been waiting to enjoy the series with English voiceovers.
The cool part is, the dub brings back familiar voices from the classic ‘Dragon Ball’ series. Sean Schemmel is voicing Goku again, and Christopher R. Sabat takes on both Piccolo and Vegeta. Plus, we’ve got some fresh voices like Matthew Mercer as Hit and David Gray as Zamasu.
And there’s more to the voice cast. We’re talking Kyle Hebert as Gohan, Christopher Ayres as Frieza, and Monica Rial stepping into Bulma’s shoes. Not to forget, Jason Douglas as Beerus and Patrick Seitz lending his voice to Jiren. The list goes on with talents like Sonny Strait as Krillin and Eric Vale as Future Trunks.

Two wide studio releases will hopefully prevent this summer from reaching another low at the box office after last weekend’s 67.3M. If there’s one movie that’s going to pull ahead, sources are betting on Crunchyroll’s Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero. That distributor has proven in a short amount of time that they can draw a great deal of anime fans in a Friday through Sunday span. The Tetsuro Kodama directed animation movie is looking at anywhere from 12M-15M, ahead of Universal’s genre lion-stalking film, Beast, starring Idris Elba; that pic hoping for at least double digits.
Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, booked in around 3,940 theaters, will be armed with all premium ticket formats, i.e. 4Dx, Imax, Dolby and D-box, and will kick off showtimes at 5Pm on Thursday. The previous movie, Dragon Ball Super: Broly, over a 6-day MLK holiday stretch in 2019 debuted to 22.3M.

“Do all of you remember the name Red Ribbon Army?” That’s the first of many lines of expository dialogue in “Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero,” the latest animated action-fantasy adaptation-extension of the mega-popular “Dragon Ball” manga comics.
That opening line of voiceover narration also inadvertently prepares viewers for how convoluted the movie soon becomes.
Some tablesetting dialogue explains who the Red Ribbon Army are (bad guys) and why they’re back. The son of the Red Pharmaceutical Company’s founder, Magenta (voiced by Volcano Ota in the Japanese-language version and Charles Martinet in the English dub), wants to take over the world. But soon enough, this fairly straightforward beat-em-up spectacular, which pits heroic aliens against villainous robots, becomes a celebration of “Dragon Ball,” a decades-old anime institution.
Fans of both the “Dragon Ball” and “Dragon Ball Z” anime will probably be the ideal audience for references to the Frieza...

More riches are coming exhibitors’ way, particularly during the late summer dry period, as Crunchyroll and Toei Animation are releasing the next Dragon Ball movie, Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, on Aug. 19 in the U.S. and Canada at 2,300 theaters and select Imax venues.
The only other new wide release in theaters at that time is Universal’s Idris Elba movie, Beast. Super Hero is getting a further global blast around the world at the same time.
These Crunchyroll movies are big one weekend cash cows, whereby all the fans come out in one swoop. Rival studios marvel at how Crunchyroll pulls this off, largely without a national TV campaign; dialing into and engaging their fanbase to leave the house. The last Dragon Ball Super: Broly posted a 6-day MLK opening of 22.3M, yet finaled at 30.7M. Worldwide, the pic did 115.7M.

From Production Ig (Psycho Pass, Blood The Last Vampire, Ghost in the Shell) and the creator of Madoka Magica and Fate/Zero comes an action-packed sci-fi adventure like you’ve never seen before. While fighting an intense inter-galactic war, a mecha pilot was accidentally warped into a space-time neither he nor the computer of his mecha could recognize. After waking up from a long-time hibernation, he found himself trapped on a planet, with human residents talking in an unknown form of language, using inferior technologies, and – most shocking to him – naturally breathable air..

The Lost fan in me is always happy to see some of the cast members up to other things, especially some of the characters who were only on the show a short time. Check out this newest posters for the upcoming animated feature Wreck-It Ralph which have been released online.
The film finds the title character (voiced by John C. Reilly) sick and tired of his repetitive, unrewarding gig as the villain of 8-bit arcade platform game Fix It Felix Jr. Day after day for years, he’s been destroying buildings, much to the disgust of the tenants, and has been rejected by all in favour of the hero, Felix (Jack McBrayer).
So Ralph decides to jump from his game to others, including first-person shooter Hero’s Duty and racing game Sugar Rush, to see if he can finally become the champion he thinks he could be. Along the way, he finds a possible new friend in fellow outcast Vanellope von Schweetz (Sarah Silverman) and learns there are worse things lurking in the arcade than low self-esteem.

Here's a great new fake commercial for Wreck-it Ralph that focuses on the magical hammer used by Fix-It Felix, Jr. that fixes everything. The new spot fits right in with the other fake ads that have been released including 1982's Fix-It Felix Jr. and 1997's Sugar Rush Speedway, and another one for Hero's Duty. This was such a great movie, and I'm excited for you to see it. It's one of the best animated movies that Disney has made in a long time.

Disney has released an adorable new clip from Wreck-It Ralph featuring Vanellope von Schweetz (Sarah Silverman) trying to talk Ralph (John C. Reilly) into helping her break into something. Basically if he helps her get what she wants, she will help him.
I've seen the movie already, and I absolutely loved it, and I'm pretty confident that you will too. Stay tuned for my review because it's coming soon. I will say that Vanellope von Schweetz was my favorite character.

Wreck-It Ralph (voice of Reilly) longs to be as beloved as his game’s perfect Good Guy, Fix-It Felix (voice of McBrayer). Problem is, nobody loves a Bad Guy. But they do love heroes… so when a modern, first-person shooter game arrives featuring tough-as-nails Sergeant Calhoun (voice of Lynch), Ralph sees it as his ticket to heroism and happiness. He sneaks into the game with a simple plan – win a medal – but soon wrecks everything, and accidently unleashes a deadly enemy that threatens every game in the arcade. Ralph’s only hope? Vanellope von Schweetz (voice of Silverman), a young troublemaking “glitch” from a candy-coated cart racing game who might just be the one to teach Ralph what it means to be a Good Guy. But will he realize he is good enough to become a hero before it’s “Game Over” for the entire arcade?...

When the game is over – a new world comes to life! Keep that in mind, and check out this completely new international trailer for the upcoming animation comedy Wreck-It Ralph! Even when he looks like a bad guy – one thing is for sure, Ralph is such a cutie! Maybe because John C. Reilly gave him his voice?
Never mind, the most important thing is that we have another look at Walt Disney Pictures‘ movie which is set to open this November. And I’m sure you’re all familiar with this (can I say cute one more time?) cute story, which centers on Ralph, guy (toy?) who is tired of being overshadowed by the good guy Fix-It Felix.
Another important thing for you to know is that they’re both in the same game. Ralph as bad guy, and Felix is that other hero who always gets to save the day.

Please excuse any notable ignorance when it comes to the process of casting an animated film — this is not my territory, to be perfectly honest — but, still, it seems odd that a film less than four months away could now add twelve to its roster. (Don’t these things take a lot of time to make? No?) When said roster is actually this good, though, any inquiries don’t mean a whole lot.
A press release has succinctly told us about the additions, and you can read the hard facts below:
Alan Tudyk (ABC’s “Suburgatory,” “Dodgeball”) as King Candy, ruler of Sugar Rush, a candy-coated cart racing game
Ed O’Neill (ABC’s “Modern Family”) as Mr. Litwak, owner of Litwak’s Family Fun Center & Arcade
Mindy Kaling (“The Mindy Project,” “The Office”) as Taffyta Muttonfudge, an accomplished racer and Vanellope’s nemesis

Can’t get enough of The Avengers hype? Do you love Jon Favreau’s adaptation of Tony Stark/Iron Man? Do you want more Iron Man and less S.H.I.E.L.D.? Does your fandom spill into the realm of animation too?
If you answered yes to any or all of the above, then you need to check out the Marvel Anime: Iron Man The Complete Series on DVD. Using the first Iron Man film as the only required back-story, Sony and Madhouse Animation brought everything that’s great about Japanimation to Iron Man–the mecha look, the fast action, and a slightly edgier approach than what’s typically passed for as cartoons in the states.
The story is set up nicely to bring Tony Stark to Japan because he wants to bring free energy to Japan, applying his life-saving Arc technology to create a large reactor to feed the country.

Michael trotted off to McM Expo in London last weekend for us - and here's what he discovered...
I am standing in a crowd of people. Like in an overcrowded train, my hands are firmly rooted in my pockets, and my eyes stare forward. Unlike a typical commute, however, this is due to the makeup of the crowd, consisting mostly of exposed, and underage, flesh, enveloped in the tenuous clothing of cosplay.
"Typical Expo," a voice moans to my rear, ostensibly passing judgement on the chaotic event organisation, since we are all wedged into space, queuing for registration for a world record attempt for the largest Nintendo DS party, but the chap, conveniently dressed as Professor Oak from Pokemon, couldn't have been more on-the-nose. For Expo offers a platform where the atypical is commonplace.
Later, I sit among gleeful DS-heads, scribbling kanji in networked Pictochat and trading farming tips on Harvest Moon,...

Gamers at the London McM Expo have smashed the Guinness World Record for the Largest Handheld Game Console Party, show organisers have announced.
More than 580 people gathered at Excel on Saturday May 29 with their Nintendo DS handheld consoles to break the previous record of 381 people held by Australia.
Damian Field, Guinness World Records' Official Adjudicator, said: "It is a tremendous achievement for the McM Expo to reach a number of 586, smashing the existing world record of 381. It's rare for a UK mass participation to reach over 500."
The London McM Expo is now the proud holder of two world records, having previously clinched the title of The Largest Gathering of People in Costumes From a Video Game.
Last weekend's London McM Expo was the most successful in the show's history with more than 41,000 visitors attending over the two days.

Noir-meets-Super-Smash-Brothers web series There Will Be Brawl has joined the ranks of Zero Punctuation and de-rez with the Escapist Magazine, a web publication devoted to video games culture and commentary. Although the deal was announced on the There Will Be Brawl homepage on December 11th, 2008, last Friday marked the re-release of the show on the Escapist's website. We first covered There Will Be Brawl on after the first episode, titled "Twilight Ruin," was released in late September. However, when they announced Escapist's intervention they made it clear that production would continue on a monthly release schedule, meaning that Episode 2 should be due out a month from now at the Escapist. For those of you out there who didn't catch it the first time,...
