Abbott Elementary returns to ABC next week for its fourth season, and viewers will see a huge crossover this season. In July, the sitcom creator and star Quinta Brunson teased a big crossover at Comic-Con International: San Diego. Now, it has been revealed that characters from Fxx's It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia will appear on the network sitcom.
Brunson, Tyler James Williams, Janelle James, Chris Perfetti, Lisa Ann Walter, Sheryl Lee Ralph, and William Stanford Davis star in the series, which follows the staff of Willard R. Abbott Public School in Philadelphia.
It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia stars Rob McElhenney, Glenn Howerton, Charlie Day, Kaitlin Olson, and Danny DeVito and follows the dysfunctional and politically incorrect crew that runs Paddy’s Pub. Fxx has renewed the series for a 17th season.

"It's Always Sunny in Abbott Elementary!" It just sounds right, doesn't it? After months of speculation, we finally have confirmation which show Abbott Elementary is doing a crossover with. Earlier this summer at San Diego Comic-Con, Abbott creator and lead actress Quinta Brunson revealed there's a special crossover happening between the ABC comedy and another series, but she didn't share details. Of course, she had to be a tease! Well, now we know which other comedy is involved. And it's FX's It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia!
Guys, I called this on our sister site Hidden Remote. I can't believe I was right! I feel so validated right now. I had a feeling that perhaps the theory was too out there. But I did have hope the Abbott Elementary/It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia crossover episode was going to happen. Because it just makes so much sense! Even though we don't know plot details yet,...

With several Emmys stalwarts not eligible for nominations this year, it was expected that there would be a number of surprises among the 2024 Emmy nominations.
But while some series and stars broke through, other anticipated nominees from new shows didn’t fare as well as they’d hoped.
Despite a big awards push, Showtime’s The Curse failed to receive any Emmy nominations, with star Emma Stone among the awards hopefuls not nominated. Similarly, the Nicole Kidman-fronted Expats for Amazon’s Prime Video was also left out of this year’s nominations. And HBO’s The Regime only earned one nod, for its costumes, leaving stars Kate Winslet and Hugh Grant snubbed.
Other acclaimed actors who failed to receive nominations include Kelsey Grammer, not nominated for his Frasier revival after the original series was a regular Emmy winner; Abbott Elementary supporting players William Stanford Davis and Chris Perfetti; The Gilded Age...

Exclusive: Boxing mother-and-son drama Undercard, starring comedian Wanda Sykes in her first big dramatic film role, has begun principal photography in Puerto Rico for Catalyst Studios.
Emmy Award-winning Sykes plays Cheryl “No Mercy” Stewart, a two-time former boxing champion and recovering alcoholic.
The movie follows her attempts to reconnect with 20-year-old son Keith, a talented but troubled young man, played by rising star Bentley Green (Heist 88), who has followed his mother’s footsteps into the boxing ring.
When Keith finds himself alone in his corner, because of his gambling-addicted trainer, he is forced to turn to his mother. Determined to right past wrongs, she embarks on a mission to train her son for glory in a World Championship title fight.
They are joined in the cast by William Stanford Davis (Abbott Elementary), Xavier Mills, Estella Kahiha, Berto Colon and Puerto Rican star Roselyn Sanchez.
Undercard marks the sixth production in two years for Catalyst Studios.
It is directed by Tamika Miller and co-written by Miller and Anita M. Cal.
The movie is billed as following in the tradition of Raging Bull, Million Dollar Baby and Creed, but with the story told through the eyes of the trainer.
“It is about the struggle and survival of the human spirit. Getting up when life does its best to knock you down. This powerful, moving story is a metaphor for our own challenges. And it shows Wanda like we have never seen her before,” said Catalyst Studios Chairperson Holly Anderson Levow.
“I’m thrilled to have this amazing cast bring Undercard to life, with Wanda leading the way in what I know will be a breathtaking performance,” said Miller.
Veteran producer Anne Clements along with local producers Frances Lausell and Andres Ramirez are overseeing production in Puerto Rico. Kim Coleman is Co-Producer. Sykes also serves as an executive producer.

Abbott Elementary’s Mr. Johnson typically makes you laugh. This time, he made folks cry.
In the season three finale of the Emmy-winning series, the janitor and Quinta Brunson’s Janine Teagues have a short but serious talk about pursuing life and living with regrets. “It’ll be all right, trust me,” he reassures her.
“I got a lot of compliments from not only Quinta but from the producers and the writers, and some of them even got a little teary and got a little emotional about it,” William Stanford Davis tells The Hollywood Reporter. “You got to see a different side of [Mr. Johnson]. He’s a three-dimensional character. Every time we shot it, [Quinta and I] were like, ‘Wow.’ I’m hoping it affected the audience in the same way.”

In this workplace comedy, a group of dedicated, passionate teachers — and a slightly tone-deaf principal — are brought together in a Philadelphia public school where, despite the odds stacked against them, they are determined to help their students succeed in life. Though these incredible educators may be outnumbered and underfunded, they love what they do — even if they don’t love the school district’s less-than-stellar attitude toward educating children.

[This story contains spoilers from the Abbott Elementary season three finale, “Party.”]
If there’s one issue viewers have had with the beloved ABC sitcom Abbott Elementary over its three seasons, it’s that Janine (Quinta Brunson) and Gregory (Tyler James Williams) have yet to take their working relationship to the next level, as fans have been shipping the pair since its season one debut.
After a painstaking episode 13, “Smith Playground,” in which Janine and Gregory’s plans to tell each other how they feel are thwarted by fellow teacher, Mr. Morton’s bitter warning to “never date someone you work with,” audiences began to lose hope. But in the final minutes of the season three finale episode, “Party,” which aired Wednesday night, the two share a passionate kiss at Janine’s end of the school year bash, putting an end to the tortuous will-they-won’t they dynamic between the teachers.

Getting ready to make your 2024 Emmy predictions for Best Comedy Supporting Actor? Be sure to take a tour of our photo gallery that showcases the leading contenders. Reigning victor Ebon Moss-Bachrach (“The Bear”) is generally expected to retain his crown and thus become the 18th man to clinch this particular award more than once and the 13th to do so twice consecutively.

The strike may have delayed and abbreviated the third season of Abbott Elementary but Quinta Brunson went into it feeling pretty confident that her comedy wasn’t going anywhere: she was told that ABC had picked up the series for a fourth season.
While appearing at Deadline’s Contenders TV on Sunday, Brunson — who was joined on stage by Tyler James Williams (Gregory), Chris Perfetti (Jacob) and William Stanford Davis (Mr. Johnson) — recalled how incredible it felt to know that “ABC trusted us” before they even began production on season 3.
The news of the pickup was made public in February at the Television Critics Associaton press tour.
The comedy just wrapped production last week on the third season. Brunson, who plays Janine in the comedy that she created for ABC, said she still marvels at how far her Emmy-winning comedy has come.

“Abbott Elementary” received the same three supporting acting Emmy nominations across its first two seasons: Janelle James and Sheryl Lee Ralph for supporting actress and Tyler James Williams for supporting actor. The comedy is likely to pick up those three bids again for its third season this year, but will it score any beyond that? Also eligible are Lisa Ann Walter in supporting actress (eighth place in our combined odds), as well as Chris Perfetti (10th place) and William Stanford Davis (21st place) in supporting actor — and their categories may be open enough for them finally to break in.
Walter, Perfetti and Davis missing for Season 1 is not at all surprising. A word-of-mouth hit, “Abbott” already exceeded expectations with seven nominations in total, including for series, actress (Quinta Brunson), writing and casting. While our odds correctly forecasted the inclusions of Brunson, James and Ralph, they had Williams sitting all the...

Lisa Ann Walter admitted that Abbott Elementary being renewed for a fourth season was the first time she’s honestly felt “safe” in her acting career.
Though the actress is known for her beloved character Chessy in 1998’s The Parent Trap, she said in an interview with People magazine, “Just because you’re in a movie doesn’t mean you’re rich.
“I wasn’t a star. I was the woman that made you cry in The Parent Trap, and you’re still looking for a job the next week,” Walter explained. “So honestly, feeling safe? The season four pickup of Abbott.”
The actress shared that her role as teacher Melissa Schemmenti in the hit ABC sitcom allowed her to afford to take her four children on their first major family vacation — a trip to Italy last summer.
“I had not been able to afford taking my kids on a...

When William Stanford Davis auditioned for Friends, he thought he absolutely nailed his performance.
“I thought I killed it. Oh my God. I was waiting for casting to call and say, ‘We want to book him,’” he tells Rolling Stone. “I was at a friend’s office and they had my agent on speakerphone and asked about the job. And I’m getting ready to do a touchdown dance when the phone got silent. Like really, dead cold silent. And they said, ‘They think maybe Stan should go back to being a telemarketer.
