Janusz Zaorski was born on 19 September 1947 in Warsaw, Mazowieckie, Poland. He is a director and writer, known for Matka Królów (1987), Pokój z widokiem na morze (1978) and Jezioro Bodenskie (1986). He is married to Anna Osmólska-Metrak.

His father Tadeusz Zaorski was the deputy minister of culture and art in Poland in the 1960s. During this decade he was also the head of Polish cinema.

Brother of actor and comedian <a class="ipc-md-link ipc-md-link--entity" href="/name/nm0953146/?ref_=nmtrv_trv">Andrzej Zaorski</a>.

His wife teaches Italian at the University of Warsaw. She is also a translator and writer.
