It is an understatement to say that Bruce Lee left a massive impact through his short filmography. After being denied a lead role by the Shaw Brothers studio, Lee signed onto an upstart company called Golden Harvest whose subsequent films made him into an international star. As his tragic death came on the cusp of kung-fu movies being introduced to the global market, a question lingered about who would replace Lee.
Director David Gregory has crafted a comprehensive exploration of what followed Lee’s passing; a sub-genre named Bruceploitation which focused on casting Bruce Lee lookalikes to star in imitation martial arts films. The resulting cash-in features were made to exploit the deceased star’s international popularity during a time when intellectual property laws were less strict, with even...

Wanted Man Movie Review Rating:
Star Cast: Dolph Lundgren, Christina Villa, Kelsey Grammer
Director: Dolph Lundgren
Writers: Dolph Lundgren, Michael Worth, Hank Hugues
Wanted Man Movie Review Is Out! (Picture Credit: IMDb)
What’s Good: Lundgren delivers a commendable performance, taking bold risks with his unsympathetic character. The film skillfully maximizes its modest budget, offering compelling action sequences and impactful dramatic moments. The practical stunt work and use of blood squibs add a nostalgic charm. Christina Villa shines as the surviving witness, and the supporting cast, including Kelsey Grammer and Michael Pare, delivers versatile performances.
What’s Bad: The plot lacks significant twists, and the finale falls short with a brief shootout and a predictable reveal. The micro-budget constraints are noticeable, impacting the overall experience. The villains’ entrance is predictable, and the generic storytelling might not fully captivate all audiences.
Loo Break: Given the film’s concise 82-minute runtime, taking...

The press release for Wanted Man describes writer/director/star Dolph Lundgren’s character like this, “Johansen is an ageing detective, whose outdated policing methods have given the department a recent public relations problem.” Those outdated methods include beating up a suspect while making what could be taken as racist remarks, all in full view of a news crew.
In case that isn’t enough to let us know what he thinks of his neighbours to the South, we get to see him hang out at a strip club with some buddies, including Brenner, Hilts and Tinelli trading comments about how disgusting Mexicans are. And to cap off the night, he has to be stopped from attacking another Mexican in the parking lot.

Vintage martial arts film fans rejoice as the 70s classic, The Shaolin Plot, is set for a 2K restoration release on Blu-ray. The Mvd Entertainment Group has just released a trailer for Arrow Video’s new physical copy release of the Sammo Hung film. The Shaolin Plot comes from director Huang Feng (director of Lady Whirlwind & When Taekwando Strikes), the father of modern Kung Fu films and a mentor to John Woo (Face/Off) and Stanley Tong (Rumble in the Bronx). The cast features Sammo Hung, James Tien and Cassanova Wong.
The release details read,
“In 1977, fight choreographer Sammo Hung made one last film under his mentor, director Huang Feng before graduating to the director’s chair himself with The Iron-Fisted Monk. If you need proof that you never know what’s going on in people’s lives before you get a look behind the beaded curtain, I’ve got a story for you. Rocky IV and The Expendables franchise star Dolph Lundgren revealed he’s been battling cancer for the past eight years. During a nationally syndicated interview on In Depth With Graham Bensinger, Lundgren said he’d been diagnosed with lung cancer in 2015.
While Lundgren says he went into remission, the cancer returned with a vengeance in 2020. His doctor gave him a terminal diagnosis, saying he only had 2-3 years to live. When the actor’s cancer returned, Lundgren’s fiancée Emma Krokdal said the doctors found tumors in his lungs, spine, and kidneys. Dolph made peace with the diagnosis, thinking he would die within a finite period.
Thankfully, this report has a silver lining. Lundgren sought a second opinion from Dr.

Wong Fei-hung (1847-1925) was a real person, but through the many interpretations of him and his life, played by actors like Kwan Tak-hing, Jackie Chan (Drunken Master), Jet Li (Once Upon a Time in China and Last Hero in China) and, briefly, Sammo Hung (Around the World in 80 Days), he has become something of a mythic figure. Gordon Liu first played the role in Challenge of the Masters, and reprises it here.
Though he’s the central figure, Martial Club is more of an ensemble piece than one focused purely on Wong Fei-hung. Broadly, the film is about an outwardly friendly, but escalating, rivalry between three Kung Fu schools: Wu Guan, Jeng and Luk. Eventually Wong Fei-hung, his friend Yan-lam (Robert Mak) and Yan-lam‘s sister (Kara Hui) are put in a position where they have to fight back.

"She is never, ever allowed in my house again!" Dust Bowl Pictures has debuted a brand new official trailer for an indie drama titled Complacent, written & directed by filmmaker Steven R. Monroe (I Spit on Your Grave). Strangely this film is listed on IMDb as originally premiering in 2012, but I can't find any info as to where it premiered then, even though it's only just now getting a release (8 years later...?). It definitely looks like it was made years ago... Two sisters, Myah and Beth, struggle with their differences in life and in the older sister's mentally abusive marriage, until the lives of Beth and their friends are shaken to the core by a tragedy that they are all forced to face. Cerina Vincent (Cabin Fever) & Kerri Green (The Goonies) star as Myah & Beth, joined by Joey Kern, Keir O'Donnell, Elisa Donovan, Christopher Showerman, Michael Worth, and Adrienne Barbeau. About the hour:
I really enjoy doing this podcast. Not so much that I need to work on it every day, but it is a personal joy to come back to this every few weeks and put down some more thoughts on our modern wax cylinders about why the Criterion Collection means so much to me and to others. Every episode has been a joy, but I have to say that this ninth hour seems particularly special to me due to the topics and wonderful conversation.
This hour allows me to share some general details about my recent trip to The Criterion Collection offices in Manhattan. Don’t get excited, there are no spoilers or scoops here, just a few minutes of me going on and on about how it was such a pleasure to visit the place and to spend a short amount of time letting Jonathan Turell know...

With Jurassic Park being rereleased in 3D this summer and another trip to the island of dinosaurs set for next summer, it really shouldn’t come as any surprise that b-moviemakers are already gearing up with movies like Jurassic Attack for the return of the cinematic dino craze.

Chronicle (DVD, Blu-ray)
Chronicle is an unconventional and slightly darker take on the superhero genre where three ordinary teenagers suddenly gain super powers and are able to do things they never imagined possible. Jabberwock: Dragon Siege
Stars: Michael Worth, Tahmoh Penikett, Kacy Barnfield, Raffaello Degruttola, Steven Waddington | Written by Raul Inglis, Rafael Jordan | Directed by Steven R. Monroe
“Twas brillig, and the slithy toves, did gyre and gimble in the wabe; All mimsy were the borogoves, and the mome raths outgrabe. Beware the Jabberwock, my son! The jaws that bite, the claws that catch! Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun, the frumious Bandersnatch!”
Taking the classic nonsense Lewis Carrol poem Jabberwocky as it’s inspiration (the poem is referred to in the film as a song recited to children to frighten them) Jabberwock: Dragon Siege is yet another in the line of low-budget dragon movies to be released straight to DVD in the UK (other dragon-based titles include Age of the Dragons, Dawn of the Dragon Slayer, Dragon Dynasty, Dragon Crusaders, and so on and so forth) and like the rest of it’s shelf-filling brethren,...

Some early details and a synopsis have come in for Blink, set to begin shooting in March 2012 in New Orleans, and of course we have everything you need to know right here.
Blink is an independently financed film from writer/producer Kurt Sherrard, which is being directed by maverick actor/director Michael Worth ("Desperate Housewives"). It stars Natasha Alam ("True Blood") and Vivica A. Fox (pictured; Independence Day, Kill Bill).
Synopsis:
A beautiful 29-year-old female supermodel named Rachel Smith is believed to be "The Heartbreaker" serial killer, who targets men. She is a native Californian and resides in San Francisco.
Many people find it hard to believe "The Heartbreaker" could actually be a woman, especially given the nature of the killings and how the men were mutilated. The FBI and other authorities also find it hard to believe it could be a woman since the murders were so malicious. Nevertheless,...

Most people don.t know, or at least know very little, about the Pow camps that the United States
maintained during World War II. Numbering in the hundreds, in nearly every state of the Union, these
camps at their peak housed almost half a million German and Japanese prisoners. Films based on these
camps have been few (Summer Of My German Soldier, Farewell To Manzanar, Come See The

backdrop of the Army base of the title, of one summer in the life of an American family, circa 1944.

*full disclosure: American World Pictures provided a screener of this film for review.
Director: Steven R. Monroe.
Writers: Raul Inglis and Rafael Jordan.
Cast: Tahmoh Penikett, Michael Worth and Kacey Barnfield.
SyFy Channel should consider rebranding. They do a better job with the fantasy films they choose than the science fiction and terror products combined. Jabberwock is a simple tongue-in-cheek tale that plays with Lewis Carroll’s nonsense poem, but spells the monster’s name without the y.
Either there were copyright issues that the film's producers could not wrangle, or they were simply trying to be original. To loosely base the monster on the design by artist John Tenniel gives this film a continuity that is much appreciated. Not every detail, like the creature’s long antennae, canonical beard and broad buckteeth are recreated, but any avid arts aficionado will recognize the silhouette.

This weekend’s Jabberwock gives the Syfy creature feature treatment to the insect-headed dragon of Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland. Syfy has posted two clips from the medieval monster movie from I Spit on Your Grave remake director Steven R. Monroe.
Jabberwock stars Michael Worth (“Acapulco H.E.A.T.”, Sasquatch Mountain), Tahmoh Penikett (“Battlestar Galactica”, Trick ‘r Treat), and Kacey Barnfield (Resident Evil: Afterlife, Lake Placid 3). Rafael Jordan (Frost Giant, Yeti: Curse of the Snow Demon) and Raul Inglis (Sand Serpents, Goblin) handled the scripting duties.
Here’s a rather spoiler-y synopsis for Jabberwock courtesy of the film’s distributors at American World Pictures that was clearly written by someone who confused the concept of synopsis with treatment. Whoever wrote it also doesn’t have much need for silly things like paragraphs. Believe me, when I start giving grammar lessons, you've got problems.

Never mind coming to the aid of the 'extra' lab assistant, and she was shot, Lindsay wasn't; worse luck. Starring: Eric Stoltz, Kate Connor, Lyndsy Fonseca, Andy Hirsch, Camryn Manheim, Brendan Fehr and Seymour Cassel
Drawing on a true story from the home front during World War II, writer-co-director-producer-star Kate Connor relays a tale known well to her family. At the Fort McCoy Army Base in Wisconsin, Connor’s mother’s family came into contact with German and Japanese prisoners-of-war when her father was stationed there to work as a barber, exposing her to particularly unique political viewpoints.
Gertie (Gara Lonning), the character based on Connor’s mother and the narrative voice in the film, is surrounded by her father Frank Stirn (played with restraint by Eric Stoltz), his wife Ruby (a role undertaken by Connor herself), Ruby’s sister Anna (Lyndsy Fonseca) and Gertie’s younger brother.

“Nothing Kills A Buzz Like A Zombie Attack!” This is the catchy tagline for the movie Zombie Drugs, a film where comedy intersects with the horror of zombies created by recreational drugs. Vinny and Sebastian decide to set up shop in the only industry they know — the drug business. With the help of Sebastian’s jealous ex-girlfriend and her rich best friend, they set out to produce and sell a drug that gives a perfect high. The four of them take on the drug world, fighting mobsters, frat boys, and yes, even the occasional zombie.
Just when we thought we knew everything about hanging out with the undead, Zombie Drugs gives us a bit of a new spin on zombiedom. Creator Alex Ballar and producer Beau Nelson of Manginity Films sat down with Tmp to discuss their film Zombie Drugs and tell us a little bit about their thoughts on the undead.

American World Pictures and Bron Studios have released the first images from Steven R. Monroe’s “Jabberwocky”, which just completed production and is now headed into post.
