The Pixar animated short that showed in front of ‘Finding Nemo 3D’ is now online for your viewing pleasure. Well here's a rare treat from the usually money hungry Disney/Pixar. While we would have fully expected the short "Partysaurus Rex" -- which unspooled in front of screenings for "Finding Nemo 3D" -- to only be available in the eventual home video release for the converted movie, the studio has gone ahead and thrown it online. Nice. The seven-minute movie finds Wallace Shawn reprising his role as Rex, and this time we find the toy dinosaur in the tub with Bonnie, along with a bunch of new friends, and a party comes to life. Simple and straightforward. Pixar heads will notice a few nods to other movies under the animation banner, and the entire affair is directed by Mark Walsh and bounces to a score by electronic artist BT. The short continues Pixar's branding of "Toy Story" long past the "finale" of "Toy Story 3," with the characters also...

Following in the footsteps of Hawaiian Vacation and Small Fry, Disney and Pixar showcased their short film Partysaurus Rex in front of Finding Nemo in 3D, continuing the exploits of Andy's toys from Toy Story, who are now living with the adorable Bonnie. As expected, it's a cute, funny little short film, and there's a great Godzilla scream from Rex (voiced by Wallace Shawn of The Princess Bride), but it ends a little abruptly. Watch it below! Back in September, Disney showed a new "Toy Story" short film, called "Partysaurus Rex," in front of theatrical showings of "Finding Nemo 3D." And now, the studio has released the entire short online. Check it out below. In "Partysaurus Rex," Rex puts his tiny arms to good use by turning on the water in a bath tub and gets the party going, which leads to a sort of bubble-filled rave, complete with glow-in-the-dark toys, disco lights and dance music. "What I was going for was, you move to a new town and make new friends, and suddenly you think you have this chance where you can reinvent yourself," said director Mark Walsh ("Finding Nemo" animator). "I love that Rex, in his sweetness, thinks he can reinvent who he is in the image of a party animal." Short Film:...

On August 14th and 15th, I attended the Finding Nemo 3d Press Junket in San Francisco, CA. I believe Crush, one of the loveable sea turtles from the film, sums the whole trip up best with this memorable quote:
“Saw the whole thing, dude. First you were all like “whoa”, and we were like “whoa”, and you were like “whoa…” ”
Nemo, an adventurous young clownfish, is unexpectedly taken to a dentist’s office aquarium. It’s up to Marlin (Albert Brooks), his worrisome father, and Dory (Ellen DeGeneres), a friendly but forgetful Regal Blue Tang, to make the epic journey to bring Nemo home. Their adventure brings them face-to-face with vegetarian sharks, surfer dude turtles, hypnotic jellyfish, hungry seagulls, and more. Marlin discovers a bravery he never knew, but will he be able to find his son?

Now, thanks to /Film (via EW) we have our first look at their continuing adventures as seen in the upcoming Pixar short Partysaurus Rex, which will screen before the 3D re-release of Finding Nemo on September 14.
The short will focus on Rex, the neurotic Tyrannosaur sidekick from the three Toy Story films, as he tries to reinvent himself following the toys’ move to their new home with Bonnie. Tired of his usual panicky self, Rex (voiced by Wallace Shawn) decides to embrace his new place among the bath time toys. Toy Story‘s resident worrier, Rex (as voiced by Wallace Shawn in the franchise), is not a good-time dino. He’s not a party bipedal carnivore. He doesn’t like to cut loose. But in the latest Toy Story short, Partysaurus Rex, the lovable plastic tyrannosaurus is bent on breaking out of his little box, styling himself as some kind of wild party dude when the toys’ new owner, Bonnie, dispatches him for bathtub duty with some new pals. And bathtub playtime is nuts. Director Mark Walsh explains, “if you’re a bath toy you get really intense playtime. It’s like a party. Then when the water goes down you can’t move. You’re helpless. And that’s pathetic, these guys in bottom of the tub all the time.” Oh, that does sound like the aftermath of a party. But just what appeals to Rex about these wild times? As...

Pixar has released a couple of photos giving us our first look at their new Toy Story short film Partysaurus Rex. In the short Bonnie takes Rex into the bathtub with her where he "encounters a sad lot of rub-a-dub-dub cohorts."
Here's what voice actor Wallace Shawn had to say about the character,
He’s sick of being the angel of goodness and sensibleness and caution and fear. He wants to stand on the side of pleasure and happiness and joy. … I live this drama every day of my life!
Here's a more detailed synopsis:
As the only available toy with limbs, Rex puts his tiny arms to good use by turning on the water and getting the party going for those dried-out toys on his own – which leads to a sort of bubble-filled rave, complete with glow-in-the-dark toys making disco lights under an overturned colander and dance music by Grammy-nominated electronica musician BT.

When “Finding Nemo” is theatrically re-released next month, re-formatted for 3D and following a similar trajectory that made “The Lion King” a surprise smash last year, it will come packaged with it a very sizable incentive – a brand new “Toy Story” short film, entitled “Partysaurus Rex,” and centered around our favorite neurotic dinosaur Rex (played, from the beginning, by Wallace Shawn). Today Entertainment Weekly debuted photos from the short, as well as new plot details. A shell-shocked combat photographer returns from Kurdistan with a secret. He.s drawn back from the brink by his wife.s estranged grandfather and those scenes are more affecting than the not-so-mysterious mystery aspect. Mark Walsh (Colin Farrell) is a photographer who has been in and out of war zones enough to be seasoned in the horrors of them. His latest trip is to Kurdistan where he and his best friend David (Jamie Sives) are photographing a make-ship medical unit where Dr. Talzani (Branko Duric) euthanizes patients whose injuries are too numerous to make it through the desert heat. Some live. Some die. Some are changed forever. That’s not only the tagline for Triage, it’s the truth about watching this film. Colin Farrell plays Mark Walsh, a war reporter whose assignment in Kurdistan involves following a doctor as he determines what injuries will heal and who will not be able to recover. Mark gets up close and personal with these patients, gathering photographs that express the pain and suffering they go through and even watching as the doctor puts those who are not going to get better out of their misery.
This isn’t easy for anyone to see, and Mark’s friend David (played by Jamie Sives) seems to especially want to get home, which also has a lot to do with the fact that his wife is set to give birth pretty much any day. Then Mark returns home with no word on where David could be,...

Agency types are betting that crowdsourcing will usher in a new type of advertising. They must be crazy.
It's come to this: Ad agencies, in a push to get hip with the kids, lower their price points, and produce better ideas, seem to be piling onto the crowdsourcing bandwagon. But can crowdsourcing produce anything more than mediocre work?
Evangelists for the trend say that crowdsourcing opens the competitive field, to talent that would otherwise go overlooked. Typically, you offer a prize, open the gates, and let the best idea win. You get more ideas, so some of them are bound to be good, right?
The list of ad agencies trying their hand at this is growing: As The Times reports, Bartle Bogle Hegarty of London is teaming with TalentHouse; some Crispin alums started Victors and Spoils; there's also Crowdspring and Genius Rocket. Hell, there's even Local Motors, which attempts to use thousands of designers,...

Watching Triage made this lily-livered film writer want to both be a war reporter and never, ever be a war reporter. Set in 1988, the film stars Colin Farrell as Mark Walsh, an Irish photojournalist who returns from an especially hairy assignment on the front lines of the Kurd-Iraqi conflict with scars both physical and psychological. The title refers to the process by which the gravely wounded are sorted on the battlefield, where medical equipment is minimal and caves double for emergency rooms. When the film opens, Mark and his colleague, David (Jamie Sives), are photographing a Kurdish doctor (an excellent Branko Djuric) as he places colored tickets on bedridden victims. Yellow means the casualty is salvageable. Blue means it is not. Mark gets squeamishly close to the action, capturing the patients' torment, and clicking away as the doctor euthanizes the terminally injured with the aid of a handgun. David, meanwhile,...
