Brett Murray's 24+ years' experience quickly overcomes sound challenges and delivers outstanding tracks. Respected for his production sound capabilities by producers and directors alike, he works closely with directors to understand and convey their creative vision while capturing actor performances. Brett's work on the "The True Don Quixote" earned "Best Sound Award" from The New Orleans Film Festival in 2018. Brett is an active member with the Cinema Audio Society (CAS) and is represented by the Orlando Agency (Kirk Orlando).
Early life Brett developed a passion for sound as a musician in high school, mixing sound for films, live music, and theater at Bayside Academy in Daphne, AL. In 1992, he took a leave to work on his first feature film, "Under Siege," where he met Sound Mixer Scott Smith, further igniting his interest in production sound. Born Brett Jennings Murray in Toledo, OH to U. S. Air Force, Major General and Aerospace CEO, James Lore Murray of Newton, N.C. and former beauty contestant, Phyllis Jennings Murray of Plains, Ga. the family moved to Point Clear, AL, in 1983 after his father's retirement. After graduating high school, Brett apprenticed under Sound Mixer Whit Norris in Atlanta. He attended Maine Media Workshops & College in 1993, studying film production. Moving to Los Angeles in 1996, he pursued both education and musical interests before returning to the South in 2003, where he resides in Atlanta, Georgia. Throughout various careers, Brett consistently returned to his passion for production sound and movie making.
