Things are about to get bloody. William Shatner narrates the trailer for the new animated film “To Your Last Death,” and his calm and alluring tone of voice will be of just a little comfort for the hyper-violence on display.
The trailer for the “Archer”-style animated film features some twisted, “Saw”-style death traps, brutal attacks with swords, axes, chainsaws and syringes, a woman falling to her death in a spike-filled pit, and even a guy walking around with his brain sliced open.
“Hell is empty, and the devils are here,” Shatner says in a whisper in the trailer.

“To Your Last Death” is a time-jumping revenge thriller that resembles what would be a particularly nasty episode of “Archer,” and it fittingly made its world premiere on Aug. 23 at Frightfest UK.

With filmmaker Sean Cain having recently wrapped his "sorority girls vs. dinosaurs" flick Jurassic Block, we sat down to chat with the affable writer and director regarding the project. Read on for more, including several stills and a look behind the scenes!
Written and directed by Cain (whose previous genre features include Silent Night, Zombie Night and Breath of Hate), Jurassic Block is produced by Anthony Fankhuaser and J.J. Kim, with FX by Joseph Lawson. It stars Ray Wise (Jeepers Creepers 2), Kevin Gage (Heat), Robert Lasardo (Death Race), Vernon Wells (The Road Warrior), Dana Melanie, Kayla Carlyle, Jack Forcinito (Silent Night, Zombie Night), Sofia Mattsson, Monique Parent, Timothy Muskatell, Vanessa Johnston and Bill Millsap (“Hatfields & McCoys”).
“Originally it was a much different concept,” Cain told us of the beginnings of Jurassic Block. “I had pitched the producers initially with my idea of basically combining [the premises of] Attack the Block with The Raid Redemption.

This past Saturday (10/20) this writer, along with actresses Natalie Victoria (DeadHeads) and Carlee Baker (The Woman)' made the drive from Hollywood to Temecula, CA, to participate in Run For Your Lives, a zombie-infested 5K obstacle course race and lived to tell about it.
Read on for photos and more!
A national phenomenon, this past weekend’s Run For Your Lives event was set up at Vail Lake, Temecula, and in addition to the well-organized race, it included live bands, food and alchohol vendors and a Wrong Turn 5: Bloodlines booth (the film streets tomorrow, 10/23, on DVD and Blu-ray via Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment), where filmmaker Declan O’Brien spent some time signing materials after completing his heat (no lie, I had to talk him into the former, and as it turned out, he was happy I did).
So how does Run For Your Lives work? It’s pretty straightforward.

In continuing with our historic support of independent filmmaking, Dread hit the set of director John Michael Elfers' Kiss before the Slaughter earlier this month in the deserts of southern California, and now thusly delivers to you an extensive gallery from the shoot, as well as word on the status of the gritty and subversive Fire Trial Films’ project. Read on!
Elfers, whose previous feature horror flick Finale racked up globally a plethora of festival awards before acquiring DVD and VOD distribution (via Image Entertainment) has joined forces once again with that film’s co-conspirators Michael Elkin (who produces) and R. Stevens Harris (behind the camera), as well as new allies Denesa Chan (actress and producer) and director of photography Mario Contini, in order to deliver his ambitious vision.

While co-hosting (with festival head Rachel Belofsky and Jonna Jackson) last week’s Screamfest La mixer at Te’Kila and 504 on Hollywood Boulevard (in attendance were horror movers and shakers John Skipp, F. Javier Gutiérrez, Stephen Goldmann, John Michael Elfers, Drina Durazo and more), I caught up with Re-Animator filmmaker Stuart Gordon in order to discuss his current projects as well as the currently previewing play Re-Animator – The Musical.
Opening on March 5th at the Steve Allen Theatre in Hollywood, CA, the stage musical incarnation of Gordon’s 1985 filmic hit (both of which center around Dr. Herbert West, a medical student obsessed with reanimating the dead) runs Friday through Saturday nights through March 27, and Gordon told us of the play over a cocktail amid the boisterous din, “Audiences seem to really like it, which is great! We’re previewing all weekend, and those nights are already sold out, which is a wonderful thing.

This past Sunday, October 24th, Jillian’s Hi-Life at Universal City was the place to be as the lovely Dread Central Horror Starlets, a fundraising team assembled by DC’s own Sean Decker, helped support women battling breast cancer who face financial hardships due to increasing medical expenses associated with their treatments through the Busted Foundation.
The Dread Central Horror Starlets bowling team featured some of horror’s newest scream queens, as well as a few more well-known ladies, including Sarah Butler (I Spit on Your Grave), Ashlynn Yennie (The Human Centipede), Carlee Baker (Wicked Lake), Tracy Coogan (Dark Woods), Gabby West (the upcoming Saw 3D), and Micheline Pitt (of Pin Up Girl Clothing).
The Horror Starlets team cheerleader Brooke Lewis (iMurders) came out for the big night to give the ladies some encouragement and writer/director Tim Sullivan (2001 Maniacs: Field of Screams) was on hand to chat with...

Breasts: we all love’ em. What better way to show your love for breasts than to
help fight breast cancer?
Sponsor The Horror Starlets In Bowling For Boobies
For the last couple of years, Sean Decker of DreadCentral.com has been involved directly with Bowling for
Boobies (a non-profit fundraiser which provides monetary assistance to L.A.
women who are experiencing financial challenges as the result of fighting and
living with breast cancer). It’s been a vastly rewarding experience, as the
money Bfb generates goes directly to someone struggling with this deadly
disease (and not some ambiguous reasearch society).
This year, they are at it again, with the 5th Annual Bowling for Boobies, which
culminates on October 27th in Los Angeles at Jillian’s Hi-Life at Universal
City Walk with a red carpet, followed by an evening of bowling. The Go-Go’s

With writer/director Sean Cain’s Silent Night, Zombie Night having wrapped this past Sunday, we thought we’d bring you some exclusive photos from earlier in the production (see ’em below), as well as word on the status of the Velvet Hammer Films opus (which we last reported on here). Cain added two pickup days to the Mary Laurie-executive produced film, and tells us, “Principal members of the production team wanted to see a couple of sequences feature more carnage, and because I’m never against throwing in more zombie head shots, I agreed.”
On hand for the March 15 late-night Burbank, CA shoot was 1313Fx man Tom Devlin, who transformed actors including Wicked Lake’s Luke Thompson, Doug Jones (an La film journalist, not the Hellboy co-star) and Tim Muskatell, among others, into members of the walking dead who crash a backyard party, much to the dismay of the attendees.
