In 2022 he had the Apple UK series Suspicion released, a global thriller starring Uma Thurman/Kunal Nayyar which shot in London and New York and is based on the Israeli series, False Flag. This is his second series for Apple having Directed and Executive Produced the first episode of Steven Spielberg's anthology series, Amazing Stories.
He also directed the pilot episode of The Right Stuff for Nat Geo/Warner Bros which was released in the Fall of 2020 on Disney +.
Having helmed over 120 projects across multiple genres and produced many hundreds of hours of television, Long has carved out a well-earned reputation as one of the best Television Directors and Producers in Hollywood and a creative visionary for some of it's most successful shows.
Born and raised in London, England, he started working in the entertainment business as a Sound Engineer for recording studios, as a theatre sound designer in the West End and eventually Post Production Dubbing Mixer at Molinare Studios in Soho, which was his introduction to the world of television. After moving to the U.S. he continued working in Post Production on various TV shows, including Lois and Clark - The new adventures of Superman and quickly moved up the ranks to become a Director/Producer. In 2016 after Directing and Producing the international hit The Mentalist for 7 seasons, his success landed him an overall deal at Warner Bros TV and his own production company, Scallie Filmworks Inc, which he runs with his partner and writer, Erin Donovan. Through Scallie Filmworks they produced, directed and subsequently sold worldwide a documentary, which solved a 50-year-old cold case of one of the UK's most notorious crimes - A Tale of Two Thieves - The Great British Train Robbery, available on Amazon. They sold the premise as a drama to ITV in the UK with Bruno Heller. Additionally, they have numerous other projects in various stages of development including a project with the new Freevee network called Total Chaos based on a trilogy of books with long time collaborator, Ken Woodruff.
Despite Long's successes and many awards, he takes huge pride in the diverse group of directors and producers he's mentored over the years, who have become talented and successful filmmakers in their own right.
