- Devoted to welfare work and charitable causes, including Amnesty International.
- Best remembered as Paddy Fleming, the shop steward from the popular sitcom The Rag Trade (1961), frequently yelling her catchphrase "Everybody out!". In real life, she was an avid Equity trade unionist and member of the Labour Party.

- Made a film called "Liselotte in the Palace of Versailles" which was of one of Miriam's one woman shows with the audience made up of many of Liselottes relatives. Due to this and an inexperienced crew, when something went wrong with the sound recording she was just allowed to continue with her performance instead of cutting and restarting. She was called back the next day to do it again only the whole thing was done badly so consequently the film was never released.
