When Steven Soderbergh remade ratpack favourite Ocean’s 11 in the early 2000s, he not only assembled one of the all-time-great ensemble casts – he reinvigorated the heist movie in the process. First, in 2001, came Ocean’s Eleven, with all its swaggering Vegas charm. Then came Ocean’s Twelve in 2004, bringing greater ambition with multiple European heists. And then, capping it all off in 2007, was the all-glam Ocean’s Thirteen, dialling up the star power even further to deliver one last great score.
With the entire legendary Ocean’s trilogy now available on 4K, it’s the ideal time to revisit the legendary filmsat home – here’s every crew member you need to pull off the ultimate heist.
The Mastermind
Danny Ocean (George Clooney)
The brains of the operation. Danny Ocean always has a scheme and a dream on the go, steps ahead of everyone else – and, crucially, always multiple moves ahead of even the most high-tech casinos.

Jordan Peele’s highly anticipated third feature film, “Nope,” has finally arrived.

Peele reteamed with Daniel Kaluuya on the film, which finds a brother and sister duo trying to catch UFOs on camera.

Are Don Cheadle, George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, and the rest of the “Ocean’s” cast readying a reunion? It’s not entirely out of the question based on Cheadle’s latest interview with Entertainment Weekly. The actor reunited with “Ocean’s” director Steven Soderbergh for the upcoming crime movie “No Sudden Move.” The way Cheadle tells it, Soderbergh mentioned during the making of “No Sudden Move” that he’s drawing closer to cracking an idea for the next “Ocean’s” movie.
“We were talking about it [after ‘Ocean’s Thirteen’], and then Bernie [Mac] passed, and very quickly we were like, ‘No, we don’t want to do it,'” Cheadle said. “But I just did a movie with Stephen and he said, ‘I think there may be a way to do it again. I’m thinking about it.’ And it didn’t go much further than that. But I...

For years video games have clamoured to make the gaming experience more cinematic. Which is now the reason we have games like Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls, The Last of Us and Until Dawn – games that edge more towards the “interactive adventures” we were promised back in the full-motion video era of gaming (remember those?). But what if it was the other way round? What if films looked to video games for inspiration? We’d probably end up with something like Burning Dog.
Shot completely from the hero’s perspective, a la Fps video games, Burning Dog is obviously inspired not only by video games but by Hardcore Henry, the 2016 film starring Sharlito Copley, which told the story of...

“iZombie” isn’t returning until midseason, but at least Comic-Con gave us some scoop of what to expect.

Given that it was the first to wrap its season, it makes perfect sense that Warner Home Entertainment would unleash the complete second season of the CW’s iZombie on disc ahead of the superheroes coming in August. The 4-disc DVD set is coming on Tuesday while Warner Archive will be simultaneously releasing iZombie the Complete First Season and iZombie the Complete Second Season on Blu-ray.
The series is loosely based on the Chris Roberson and Michael Allred Vertigo series and is a quiet success, garnering solid ratings and reviews but without the sturm and drang of its fellow DC properties. Thoughts on tonight's "iZombie" coming up just as soon as I'm thick with justice... On the one hand, the idea behind the Brain of the Week story in "Cape Town" requires a hell of a lot of buy-in, and/or a complete reconceptualizing of the show. Sci-fi, horror, and, yes, superhero stories work best when there's some kind of grounding to the material beyond the key fantastical elements. You have to go into a Spider-Man comic accepting that he can cling to walls and has a danger sense, but on some level, Peter Parker has to work as a character, and his New York has to have some resemblance to the real one, even if it's constantly being menaced by supervillains. With "iZombie," we accept that zombies are real, and that Blaine has helped to create a whole ecosystem for them to continue to walk among us without detection. To...

As the democratization of film has made it possible for just about anyone to make a film, it has conversely made it more difficult for the individual filmmaker and his or her films to stand out. Online content platforms now offer a hundred times more films in their catalogs then the films cataloged by IMDb from the inception of film (1,764,727 titles as of 14 Jan 2011). So despite assertions to the contrary, branding is more important than ever.

The zeitgeist within Veronica Mars’ resurrection as a major motion picture reflects directly onto film’s current state. Fans may delight in the sleuthing shenanigans that abound in co-writer/director Rob Thomas’ Veronica Mars, replete with its billion cameos and its seance-like atmosphere. But as an outsider to Mars’ world of Neptune, CA, I was struck more by the film’s observance on the forces that are currently shaping movies, for better or for worse. Considering its existence as a crowdfunding success, its endorsement of product placement, its interest in celebrity journalism, and its feature presentation as a TV movie, Veronica Mars approximately defines the current state of our creation, and consumption, of cinema as popular entertainment.
When gauging the project’s relevancy to modern film, one must talk about its background as a Kickstarter movie. Veronica Mars is one of the first major film projects out the gate to...

Englishman in L.A.
The love affair between U.S. viewers and British TV producers has been going on for decades but Cameron Moir has spiced things up with a brand new series that you can only watch online. As the title suggests, Englishman in L.A. is about an English author who comes to the U.S. to promote his best-selling novel. While in L.A., he finds himself being sucked into the glamorous world of Hollywood. However, Tom Dingle (Moir) may be a touch too “English” for Hollywood and Hollywood bigwigs may butcher his work beyond recognition.
It’s an amusing premise and it forms the basis of a hilarious new sitcom that’s currently being broadcast on Youtube. The use of the online platform is something that recently worked well for James Corden whose BBC hit-com The Wrong Mans was broadcast in the U.S. on Hulu.

Hollywood loves hackers. They’re an easy plot fix. Need some passwords? Get the hacker! Want an eye in the sky? Get the hacker! Gotta diffuse a bomb? Get. The. Hacker.
Look, I get it. When the hero inevitably runs into a dead end, I’m willing to suspend my disbelief and accept that a fictional hacker can solve everything. But it’s not 1995 anymore; computers are not relatively new inventions (and not everything you need is in them), so over time, these hacker scenes have only become more tedious than revolutionary.
Let’s start with the latest hacking-as-a-plot-point offender: this summer’s Elysium.

Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl
Directed by Gore Verbinski
Written by Ted Elliott, Terry Rossio, Stuart Beattie, and Jay Wolpert
Starring Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, Keira Knightley, Geoffrey Rush
Captain Jack Sparrow is the worst thing that ever happened to Johnny Depp’s career. The prevailing wisdom is that the constantly soused pirate is what vaulted Depp to superstardom, and though it’s accurate, I don’t think this financial leap represented a positive for his qualitative growth as an actor. Some people have found a balance between being legitimate actors and movie stars. George Clooney, Brad Pitt, and Matt Damon come to mind. (Sadly, not every one of the 21st-century Ocean’s Eleven qualify as stars. Sorry, Eddie Jemison.) This trio are easily among the most recognizable faces in film, this generation’s respective answers to Cary Grant, Robert Redford, and Henry Fonda. Their...
