His mother, Sibel, was a lecturer, while his father, Teoman, was an industrial engineer who graduated from the prestigious Middle East Technical University. Günsür's older sister, Zeynep Günsür Yüceil, is a renowned choreographer of modern ballet and also works as a lecturer.
