[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Season 5, Episodes 1-3.] The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is back and already making big swings in the show’s final season. In the first three installments of the fifth chapter in Amy Sherman-Palladino‘s Prime Video comedy, it was unceremoniously revealed that titular comedian Midge Maisel (Rachel Brosnahan) and her closest cohort, manager Susie Myerson (Alex Borstein) had fallen out. Teased during one of the season’s flash-forward sequences, Midge sits down with Mike Wallace (played by Currie Graham) for a 60 Minutes interview. While sitting down for the chat, she is asked about her 25-year friendship and professional bond with Susie that seemingly ended in the blink of an eye. Unfortunately, that’s the only information viewers are given in the first three installments, and it is sure to sit heavy in fans’ stomachs as they await an explanation. (Credit: Prime Video) The feeling isn’t dissimilar...

It’s the final bow for Prime Video’s awards darling “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” and the latest season introduces a new narrative device that changes the whole show.
The opening episode of “Maisel” Season 5 picks up not with Midge (Rachel Brosnahan) or her family or manager Susie (Alex Borstein), but with her daughter — a 23-year-old Esther Maisel (Alexandra Socha) decades in the future.
Creator and showrunner Amy Sherman-Palladino told IndieWire that the “Maisel” creative team has toyed with using time jumps for years, but felt that it was too early to dive into the characters’ futures.
“It wasn’t earned enough. Nobody gave a shit yet,” she said. “But it was a device we really wanted to use… we kind of went all in on it because it’s a fun storytelling device, and it helps inform in quicker pops. It makes the current story that we’re doing...

This 1923 review contains spoilers for the episode and the Yellowstone universe at large.
1923 Episode 8
In the 1923 season 1 finale, there’s a well-written little nugget of dialogue spoken by breakout character Teonna Rainwater (Aminah Nieves) when she tells her father, with conviction, that she “believes in right now.” While inspiring, that affirmation sticks out because of the inherent dramatic irony.
Yellowstone supercreator, Taylor Sheridan, who only half a decade ago barely had one show to his name, now helms nine television shows, all in varying degrees of production. On the surface, he certainly seems like a man who has to live in the “right now”, as his time is so precious, it would be difficult to think about nice different things at the same time, so best to focus on the here and now. However, it may be fair to say that his writing has recently suffered on several of his...

Paramount+’s 1923 season one finishes up with episode eight, “Nothing Left to Lose,” an episode that ends with multiple cliffhangers and none of the three major storylines any closer to resolution. The season finale split fan-favorite couple Alex and Spencer apart, left Donald Whitfield sitting in the catbird seat, and revealed Cara’s worried that Spencer’s the Yellowstone Ranch’s only hope. And Teonna’s storyline only advanced as far as the Wyoming state line, with law enforcement and Father Renaud hot on her tail.
At least Paramount+ has already confirmed 1923 is returning for season two and we will, eventually, learn if Alex and Spencer make it to Montana. However, Paramount+ hasn’t announced when fans can expect a second season to arrive.

1923 Episode 7
There’s a key sequence in “The Rule of Five Hundred”, where we see that winter has come to Montana. It’s bleak, it’s freezing, but none of that stops the patriarch of the Dutton family, Jacob (Harrison Ford) from riding into town with his posse to ensure justice is served. As he and his men trot by on horseback, only the clops of the hooves on the pavement can be heard. This group seemingly from the Old West trots past an automobile that is stuck in the Montana slush, as if this modern day convenience was completely unprepared for the world they live in.
The juxtaposition of those two worlds is the real key. It was almost as if creator Taylor Sheridan, who once again wrote this episode, is commenting that the old ways are still the best ways. Progress be damned.

Jack Reacher is returning.
Amazon has renewed Alan Ritchson-fronted action drama series Reacher for a second season.
The fast turnaround renewal comes three days after the streamer launched the Lee Child adaptation.
Amazon said that Reacher ranked in its top five most-watched series ever in the U.S. and globally over a 24-hour period – though it’s worth noting that all eight episodes of the series launched at once. The company added that it also was among its highest-rated original series, with subscribers giving it an average rating of 4.7 out of 5.
From writer Nick Santora, the series follows Jack Reacher, a veteran military police investigator who has just recently entered civilian life. Reacher is a drifter, carrying no phone and the barest of essentials as he travels the country and explores the nation he once served. “Reacher” has snagged an early Season 2 renewal at Amazon.
The action thriller series debuted on the streamer just three days ago, on Feb. 4. It is based on the Jack Reacher novel series by Lee Child. The first season is based on the debut novel in the series, “Killing Floor,” which was released in 1997. Per Amazon, the show is already one of their top five most-watched shows of all time, though it must be noted that Amazon also does not provide viewership numbers.
Ritchson stars in the title role as Jack Reacher, a veteran military police investigator who has just recently entered civilian life. When he arrives in the small town of Margrave, Georgia, he finds a community grappling with its first homicide in 20 years. The cops immediately arrest him and eyewitnesses claim to place Reacher at the scene of the crime. While he works to prove his innocence, a deep-seated conspiracy begins to emerge.

Officers Chen and West moved up to P2 status and shed their rookie roles on The Rookie Season 3 Episode 10, leaving Officer Nolan behind.
Will the show have to change its name once Nolan finally kicks his rookie status? Unlikely, but does someone always need to be the designated rookie to have the title make sense?
Thanks to Nolan's extra 30-day punishment, there's still time to ponder that conundrum, and in the meantime, it's onwards and upwards for Jackson and Lucy.
And while Jackson's entire family took him out for a celebratory dinner to praise his accomplishments, Lucy's mom showed up to share her disappointment and attempt to bully Lucy into changing careers.
Lucy, your father and I will always love you, but you are risking your life on a thankless job, and we can not be supportive of it any longer.

"There is always some theoretical fighter who thinks he can take on the pros." Lionsgate has unveiled an official trailer for a Mma fighter film titled Born a Champion, from French filmmaker Alex Ranarivelo. The film is co-written by and stars actor Sean Patrick Flanery as Mickey Kelly, one of the first American black belts in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Set in the 1990s, the film follows Mickey as he finds himself pulled into an unsanctioned Mma tournament in the hopes of providing for his family. The full cast also includes Dennis Quaid, Katrina Bowden, Currie Graham, Costas Mandylor, Maurice Compte, Reno Wilson, and Ali Afshar. This has all the usual fight film tropes, and doesn't seem to be unique at all especially with the military subplot, but it does look like Flanery is giving one hell of a performance at least. Check it out below. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Alex Ranarivelo's Born a Champion,...

Just when you thought the terrorist attack was over, The Rookie Season 2 Episode 1 revealed that it's never a good idea to let your guard down.
It also highlighted that celebrities are a part of everyday life in Los Angeles, which is the only reason why I don't find their guest appearances more annoying, that and the fact that they tend to keep them blessedly brief.
No offense meant to Mr. Cuban, but I don't tune in to see famous faces; it's the stories of these police officers I'm more interested in seeing.
Speaking of which, we might as well address the elephant in the room as quickly as the show did.
Officer Talia Bishop took a job with Atf believing that she'd never have the career she wanted with Lapd after lying on her application.

From the looks of this exclusive clip, she's willing to go pretty darn far.
It's easy to see why Da Mario Siletti (Currie Graham) is a little worried about the birthday gift Melissa is offering.
If I were him, I might not make the joke about Melissa becoming Facebook friends with his wife.
After all, just how well does he know this woman?
The answer is that after his birthday gift, he will probably know her a little bit better.
Ok. A Lot better, if he really goes through will the receipt of said gift. A little privacy in the ladies room?...
