Hampe Faustman, born in Stockholm, was a Swedish director, writer and actor. He was the son of the artists Gösta Chatham and Mollie Faustman. Hampe Faustman studied at the Royal Dramatic Training Academy from 1937 and made his acting debut in the film "Med livet som insats / They Staked Their Lives" (1940). The director's debut came with the film "Natt i hamn / Night in Port" (1940) where he also played a minor role. Producer Lorens Marmstedt and Terrafilm joined forces with Faustman to give him the opportunity to develop his socially engaged style under Marmstedt's active protection. Later, together with the actor George Fant, he founded the film company F-film. Hampe Faustman directed 15 feature films and acted in 26. He died at the age of 42 in Stockholm 1961.
