When it comes to the world of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, if there is one thing fans can expect, it is well-written characters. If a camera is pointed at a character for longer than two episodes, chances are that fans are in for one complexly motivated journey. This is a pattern that has followed through the spin-offs and has consistently impressed fans over the years.

While a lot of attention is focused on Walter White and the unraveling of his psyche, fans have been introduced to other characters that provide an equal, if not more intrigue. During an interview, the co-creator of Saul Goodman’s series, Peter Gould, spoke on one character from the original series that set a brand new standard for the spin-off.

When Daredevil: Born Again finally arrives on Disney+ next March, we're expecting a long overdue deep dive into the street-level corner of the MCU.
We know the Man Without Fear will cross paths with the likes of White Tiger and The Punisher, while various online scoopers have claimed the plan for Spider-Man 4 is for Peter Parker and Daredevil to do battle with The Kingpin.
If that happens, then we'd imagine the idea is to bring Wilson Fisk's story to a definitive close when he's defeated by his two greatest foes.
Lead star Charlie Cox recently teased plans for cameos in Daredevil: Born Again and Daniel Richtman has now "confirmed" rumours that Jacques "Jack" Duquesne (Tony Dalton) will appear in the series. Is he finally going to suit up as Swordsman? That remains to be seen.
The scooper also claims that there were once plans for Iman Vellani's Kamala Khan/Ms.

Daredevil: Born Again will finally deliver a deep dive into the street-level corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Spider-Man: Homecoming and Hawkeye gave us a glimpse into that, of course, but it's in this series that we'll see vigilantes in action.
The Punisher and White Tiger are both confirmed to appear and lead star Charlie Cox commented on the latter character's role during a recent appearance at Fan Expo Chicago.
"I mean, we don't follow any of the comic books in terms of story," he told fans (via Screen Rant). "We don't follow any of them closely, and there's a number of reasons for that. One, because if you follow a storyline closely, it becomes a foregone conclusion because everyone knows how it ends."
"Those of you who saw the leaked trailer from D23 may have noticed a couple of interesting characters come up - I didn't say it, you said it.

[This story contains spoilers for Echo.]
There are certain television shows that people within the entertainment industry all watch and admire, and one of those shows was Better Call Saul, the celebrated prequel-sequel to the almighty Breaking Bad. The number of influential filmmakers who watched Saul is at least a mile long (Steven Soderbergh, Guillermo del Toro, Darren Aronofsky to name a few), and the brass at Marvel Studios are all included in that group. So it was hardly a surprise when Marvel sought out Saul writer-producer Marion Dayre to lead the writers’ room of Echo, a mature miniseries that’s centered on Maya Lopez/Echo (Alaqua Cox), who was first introduced as Wilson “Kingpin” Fisk’s (Vincent D’Onofrio) deaf enforcer on Hawkeye (2021).
Under the tutelage of Saul co-creators Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould, Dayre became a two-time WGA Award-nominated TV writer. She first co-wrote season two’s “Klick,” which put Mike Ehrmantraut (Jonathan Banks) on...

After six seasons and 53 Emmy nominations, including seven for Outstanding Drama Series, Better Call Saul has left us without a single win.
The critically acclaimed Breaking Bad prequel was nominated for seven Emmys tonight, including Outstanding Drama Series, Lead Actor for Bob Odenkirk as Saul Goodman, Supporting Actress for Rhea Seehorn as Kim Wexler, as well as Picture Editing, Short Form Comedy, Drama or Variety Series, Sound Mixing and two nominations in the Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series category for the “Point and Shoot” episode and series finale, “Saul Gone”, but came up empty for all.
The series somehow, despite its acclaim, never matched the awards success of the mothership series, which won 16 Emmys out of 58 nominations, including Outstanding Drama Series, four Lead Actor wins for Bryan Cranston, three for Aaron Paul in the supporting actor category and one for Anna Gunn for supporting actress.

Once Bob Odenkirk and Rhea Seehorn both lost on their 2022 Emmy nominations for “Better Call Saul,” their show joined “Murder, She Wrote” in first place on the list of drama series with the most unsuccessful TV academy acting notices and no wins, at 13. With six regulars and seven guests on this year’s first-round ballot, the recently concluded AMC program could potentially double its current acting Emmy nominations total and comfortably surpass that of its parent series, “Breaking Bad” (17). However, if it at least reaches 19 and none of its 2023 contenders triumph, it will set a new record as the show with the most failed acting bids and no wins, regardless of genre.
“Better Call Saul” ran for a total of six seasons, the last of which was split into two parts. After primarily beginning as a prequel series to “Breaking Bad” about formerly supporting character Jimmy McGill (aka Saul Goodman...

Since 2021, Giancarlo Esposito has held the distinction of being the most-recognized Black performer in the history of the Best Drama Supporting Actor Emmy category. After coming up short on all of his past nominations for “Breaking Bad” (2012), “Better Call Saul” (2019-2020) and “The Mandalorian” (2021), he now has a shot at finally triumphing on his potential third “Better Call Saul” bid. This would not only finally make the six-season AMC drama an Emmy-winning show, but would also make Esposito his category’s first Black winner.
Esposito’s appearance in the final season of “Better Call Saul” serves as the conclusion of a performance that had begun 13 years earlier on “Breaking Bad.” Although the newer series mainly functioned as a backstory for Jimmy “Saul Goodman” McGill (Bob Odenkirk), it naturally fleshed out many more featured “Breaking Bad” characters, including Esposito’s Gus Fring. In his last moments on screen, the narcotics kingpin...

“I think it’s finally my year,” are the famous last words of Eddie Munson in “Stranger Things,” but unfortunately actor Joseph Quinn will have to wait a little bit longer.
While, at this point, it feels like the kids of Netflix’s ’80s-set sci-fi series will be grandparents before Season 5, with the WGA strike delaying production and the general speed in which the Duffer brothers have delivered seasons. Nonetheless, elements of last summer’s massively popular Season 4 Vol. 2 double-episodes will be angling for consideration from the Television Academy this year. But Emmy rules means most stars of “Stranger Things” aren’t eligible for this year’s ballots.
In June 2022, the TV Academy eliminated the “hangover episode rule,” which allowed a series that premieres current-season episodes after the May 31 eligibility deadline but before the start of nomination round-voting to submit for Emmy consideration.

The TV Academy better call Rhea when Emmy nominations are announced.
The acclaimed actress has chosen to submit in the supporting drama actress category for the second half of the final season of “Better Call Saul,” Variety has learned exclusively. The actress joins her co-star, Carol Burnett, who will also vie for a nomination in the same category.

Despite the AMC “Breaking Bad” spin-off series airing last summer, it’s eligible for this year’s Primetime Emmy Awards, where it hopes to finally take home statuettes after being shut out for each of its six seasons.
Last year, Seehorn finally picked up her first nomination for playing Kim Wexler, Saul Goodman’s confidante and wife. Variety reported Seehorn’s team was mulling over a decision on whether to seek lead actress consideration over the past few weeks.

This article contains spoilers for Better Call Saul season 5 but not season 6.
Even though Better Call Saul aired its series finale almost a year ago now, many fans of the show don’t watch until it premieres on Netflix rather than AMC. In keeping tradition with the streamer’s usual release schedule, the sixth season of creators Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould’s Breaking Bad spinoff finally came out this April, approximately one year after the first episode was seen on cable. That means an entirely new audience is ready to experience the climax of this legendary drama, and they may have forgotten the main plot events and themes exhibited during the penultimate fifth season. No reason to fret, friends! We’re here to help you take a time machine back to Albuquerque circa 2004. Let’s recap the fifth season:

The Gold Derby predictions center event for the 2023 Emmy Awards has now added the Drama Guest Actor category. We have compiled lists of nearly 40 eligible performers in each of the four guest acting races that reflect our educated guesses on who will be submitted for consideration. More names will be added in the next few months and when the Television Academy releases this year’s ballots in June. Make your very first selections now!
Last year, “Succession” dominated this category with four of the six slots for guests Adrien Brody, James Cromwell, Arian Moayed, and Alexander Skarsgård. As of this writing, we anticipate both Cromwell and Moayed will be guest eligible — Moayed has already appeared in one Season 4 episode so far — while Skarsgård may appear in enough episodes to be deemed supporting. With the 2022 victor Colman Domingo (“Euphoria”) and nominee Tom Pelphrey (“Ozark”) ineligible, there will be at least three...

Spoilers for "Better Call Saul" follow.
In prequels, foregone conclusions are, well, foregone. The writers crafting the stories and the audiences watching them know ahead of time that the characters have to end in the spot where we first met them in the original story. Likewise, newly introduced characters who weren't in the original have to be taken off the board — sometimes lethally.
"Better Call Saul" acknowledges this from the beginning. The very first scene of the series actually takes place after "Breaking Bad" — former criminal lawyer Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) is in hiding, living as Omaha Cinnabon manager Gene Takovic. As I've written before, the show comes with the built-in tragedy that "Slippin' Jimmy" McGill, a plucky lawyer trying to go straight, will one day become the consigliere of Walter "Heisenberg" White (Bryan Cranston).
There are five major characters in "Better Call Saul" who were nowhere to be seen...

Who could have ever predicted that when “Better Call Saul” premiered in 2015, straight off the heels of one of the most victorious final seasons at the Emmys with its predecessor “Breaking Bad,” that it would suffer one of the biggest Emmy droughts in history? The AMC prequel series amassed 46 total nominations in the loss column to date, and has still yet to win a single Emmy Award. This will be its last chance as it contends for its final season’s second installment, which contains its concluding six episodes; will this be the year it finally wins something as the show bids farewell?
Last year for its first half of its final season, the legal crime drama garnered seven Emmy nominations, including Best Drama Series, Best Drama Actor for Bob Odenkirk (as Jimmy McGill/Saul Goodman/Gene Takovic), Best Supporting Actress for Rhea Seehorn (as Kim Wexler) and Best Drama Writing for Thomas Schnauz.

Bob Odenkirk could find himself in the rare Emmy air this year. AMC will submit Odenkirk’s new series, “Lucky Hank,” in comedy categories for this year’s Emmy competition, Variety has confirmed.
Of course, AMC is also submitting the final episodes of Odenkirk’s “Better Call Saul” in the drama fields. Should Odenkirk be nominated in both the best drama actor and best comedy actor races, he would become the first performer in history to be nominated in both genres in the same year.
Several performers have been nominated and even won Emmys as both drama and comedy leads — but never at the same time. It’s a possibility: Odenkirk has been nominated five times in the best drama actor category for “Better Call Saul,” and this will be his final opportunity to compete in that race for “Saul”. Meanwhile, Odenkirk has been known first and foremost as a comedy performer,...

TelevisaUnivision’s streamer ViX+ has just begun the filming of its original romantic comedy movie “Dime Lo que Quieres” (“Tell Me What You Really Want”), starring Manolo Cardona (“Who Killed Sara?”), “Club of Crows’” Stephanie Cayo, Angie Cepeda (“Encanto”) and “Better Call Saul’s” Tony Dalton.
Peruvian actor-helmer Bruno Ascenzo is directing the ViX+ Original movie in production with Colombian outfit 11:11 Films & TV. Brothers Juancho and Manolo Cardona and Stephanie Cayo produce.
The comedy, that shakes up the dullest marriage and questions the aspects of normal communication in a couple, adapts Argentine film “Dos + Dos,” which Patagonik Film Group and Pol-Ka produced in 2012.
Speaking freely about love and sexuality but also about truth, loyalty, and real friendship, “Dime Lo que Quieres” tells the story of Diego (Tony Dalton) and Emilia (Angie Cepeda), a conservative couple with 16 years of marriage behind them that have lost their spark.

This article contains potential spoilers up to the end of "Better Call Saul."
Throughout the show's six-season run, there was always a question mark hanging over the fate of Kim Wexler (Rhea Seehorn) on "Better Call Saul." Though a prequel to "Breaking Bad," "Better Call Saul" introduced Kim and other characters we had never met like Nacho Varga (Michael Mando). Not all of those characters would make it out of the series alive. Some fans feared the worst: namely, that "Better Call Saul" might go truly dark and make Jimmy McGill/Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) totally irredeemable by having Kim become a casualty of his criminal actions.
When "Better Call Saul" first started, it seemed to position Mike Ehrmantraut (Jonathan Banks) as the show's co-lead. By the end, Kim had established herself as the show's real Mvp, even if the Emmy Awards somehow didn't get the memo, choosing instead to...

After five seasons without recognition at the Emmys for her work on AMC’s “Better Call Saul,” Rhea Seehorn finally broke into Best Drama Supporting Actress this year for her stellar performance in the first half of the sixth season (she’s also nominated for Best Short Form Actress for “Cooper’s Bar”). Seehorn joins a long list of main cast members who were overlooked for Emmy nominations until late in their series’ runs, including Kit Harington for “Game of Thrones,” Jennifer Aniston for “Friends,” Pat Harrington Jr. for “One Day At A Time,” and the entire cast of “Schitt’s Creek.” She is nominated for portraying lawyer Kim Wexler, Jimmy McGill’s (Bob Odenkirk) wife on the series.

Bob Odenkirk is up for Best Drama Actor for the fifth time at the Emmys, having been nominated for every season of “Better Call Saul” except for the last, when he was oddly and egregiously snubbed for his performance as Jimmy McGill/Saul Goodman in the fifth cycle. This is his 11th nomination for the AMC series – he’s also a producer on the show and nominated for Best Drama – and his 18th overall, having won for the writing teams of sketch comedies “Saturday Night Live” in 1989 and “The Ben Stiller Show” in 1993.
See Will ‘Better Call Saul’ finally break through with an Emmy win?

Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you have not watched the series finale of “Better Call Saul,” titled “Saul Gone.”
Chuck McGill was lovingly brought back to life in the series finale of “Better Call Saul,” but Michael McKean, who reprises his role as the late lawyer in a flashback sequence, isn’t quite sure what it all means — because he’s still a few episodes behind on the AMC series.
In two flashbacks during the finale, Jimmy (Bob Odenkirk) asks Mike (Jonathan Banks) and Walter White (Bryan Cranston) where they’d go if they had a time machine. Both Mike and Walt lament major regrets — taking a bribe and leaving Gray Matter Technologies, respectively — but Jimmy refrains from getting too personal. It’s not until after the climactic courtroom scene — in which Jimmy takes a shot at redemption by confessing to his crimes and taking a much longer jail...

It’s not until after the climactic courtroom scene — in which Jimmy takes a shot at redemption by confessing to his crimes and taking a much longer jail...

This article contains spoilers for all of Better Call Saul.
Better Call Saul is known for being the quieter, less violent successor to Breaking Bad, but there are still plenty of morbid character deaths that have occurred across the six seasons of the show. Because these deaths happen less often, they also hit harder than in other dramas.
Now that the show has wrapped its run, we thought it would be a great time to recap which departed characters got the most and least deserving fates. Were they bad people? Did their death signify a turning point in the story, or could Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould give these people more of a dramatic farewell? It also works the other way around. Perhaps moral characters died in flashy ways that made it even more tragic when they met their demise. Let’s rank them!

Major spoilers for the final episode of "Better Call Saul" follow.
This might be a controversial opinion, but the series finale of "Breaking Bad," appropriately titled "Felina," has one major flaw. While it certainly gave closure to the story of Walter White (Bryan Cranston), egregious fanservice helped pave that way. The involvement of Badger (Matt Jones) and Skinny Pete (Charles Baker) in his final act of revenge against the Schwartzs (Adam Godley and Jessica Hecht) always felt a bit contrived, like the point of the scene was to shoehorn in these characters first in order to clumsily tie up loose ends. It's a bit of a tedious scene in an episode that is otherwise wonderfully paced and executed.
"Better Call Saul's" finale, "Saul Gone," did have its fair share of cameos and surprise appearances, but it didn't fall into that same fanservice trap as "Felina" did. The appearances of...

After the eventful finale of “Better Call Saul,” Bob Odenkirk thanked fans, as well as the cast and crew, for all their support in making the “Breaking Bad” prequel a hit.
“Everybody’s been asking me how I feel about saying goodbye to Saul Goodman and ‘Better Call Saul,’ and I’m not good at answering the question because it’s frankly hard for me to look at that experience and even at that character too closely,” he said in the video he posted late Monday night. “It’s just too many moving parts and they fit together too beautifully.”
He continued, “It’s a mystery to me how it even happened. Thank you for watching. I want to thank Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould for giving me the chance I did nothing to deserve this part, but I hope I earned it over six seasons. The cast around me Rhea Seehorn,...

When THR reaches Peter Gould, he is in the throes of putting the final touches on the last episode of Better Call Saul. “It’s emotional,” says the showrunner of saying goodbye to the show he and Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan announced in 2013 as a spinoff to the critically acclaimed AMC drama.
As Gould looks back on six seasons, it is hard not to reflect on what the show might have been. “When Vince and I first started talking about this, we didn’t really know what we wanted to do with it. In fact, the first thing we pitched to AMC and Sony was more of a half-hour that would be very funny. It would be mostly Saul in his office giving advice to wacky clients,” says Gould. “That quickly went away, and I was very relieved, because real honest-to-God comedy...
