Born and raised in Cologne, Germany, he started taking music lessons at age ten. He graduated from the Mimar Sinan University of Fine Arts Conservatory. As a Performing Artist, he gave recitals, played with the Istanbul State Symphony Orchestra, and the State Opera and Ballet, and taught at the Istanbul Academy of Communication and Arts. He also worked as an arranger and music director for music productions, which sold over two million before dedicating himself full-time to writing music for films.
Tamer scored 37 films and 20 prime-time TV series, totaling over 700 episodes. He created interactive music and sound design for theater plays and games and is the songwriter for a big-budget all-star musical. He composed and orchestrated the music for Tolga Ornek's, Jeremy Irons narrated, docudrama "The Hittites", performed by the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra. Many of his soundtrack albums are top ten bestsellers.
"Can" won "World Dramatic Special Jury Prize for Artistic Vision" at Sundance Film Festival and "Lovelorn" won "Best Feature" at New York Queens Film Festival. Among other awards and many nominations, he received three times the International Antalya Golden Orange award.
Since moving to Los Angeles, he began writing music for US productions.
