American novelist and short story writer whose books include The Last
Good Time (1984), Mr. Field's Daughter (1989), Violence (1992), Rebel
Powers (1993), Good Evening Mr. & Mrs. America, and All the Ships at
Sea (1996), and Someone to Watch Over Me: Stories (1999). His short
fiction has won two National Magazine Awards and an O. Henry Award. He
has a twin brother, Robert Bausch, also a writer.
