In 1958 she made her first single together with her father the famous
Willy Alberti, "Zeg Pappie". A few years later she recorded her first
solo single called "Als Ik Je Zie". in 1962 she had her first major hit
with "Spiegelbeeld" the Dutch version of "Tender Years". Through the
60s she had many hit recordings and was a teenage idol. in 1970 she
played the leading part in the television series "De Kleine Waarheid"
and won the award for best Dutch TV program that year. In 1975 she
played the lead in the movie "Rooie Sien" For almost 50 years now she
has been a recording artist and made many television appearances
singing and acting. In 1994 she entered for The Netherlands at the
Eurovision Song contest with the song "Waar Is De Zon". That same year
a musical about her life was made, called simply "Willeke the Musical"
and it contains many of her hits. In 1995 she made a concert tour
celebrating her 50th birthday. In 2004 Willeke will play Dolly in the
Dutch version of the musical, "Hello Dolly".
