Judith Barsi was one of the rising stars in the 80s, and many of her directors were keen on the child actress getting extensive work as she progressed in her career. However, the promising child actress would record her last performance at the age of 10, before she and her mother were allegedly killed by her father, who reportedly committed suicide just moments after.

The actress’s final performance came in the form of lines that she had recorded for the film, All Dogs Go to Heaven, which featured Burt Reynolds as the principal protagonist of the film. After the tragic passing of the young actress, it has been reported that it took Reynolds more than a few takes to get through his final scene for the film.

Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV may have exposed the ugly underbelly of ’90s kids TV, but good things have come from the documentary series that’s up for Best Documentary at this year’s Emmy Awards.
In Deadline’s conversation with the executive producers and participants of the Investigation Discovery project during Contenders Television: The Nominees, former All That cast member Bryan Hearne says he feels like there is a “100 percent chance” that positive change will follow now that executive producers Mary Robertson and Emma Schwartz have shined a light on this dark period.
The docuseries, which is also vying for an Emmy in Picture Editing for a Nonfiction Program, set out to uncover the toxic and dangerous culture on the sets of Dan Schneider’s Nickelodeon children’s shows in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

Sara Haines is a mainstay on the popular talk show The View, but that doesn’t stop her from branching out and working on other shows.
Sara took time away from The View to work with John Quinones for a What Would You Do episode.
This beloved show puts real people in moral dilemma scenarios to see if they will do the right thing, and Sara was excited to be a part of the process.
Now, it seems like Sara may be teasing a return of another of her shows, a game show this time.
Sara has hosted the reboot of The Chase since 2021. Season 3 of the reboot finished last July, and everyone is wondering if the show will be renewed.
The Sun reports that past contestant Victoria Groce, recently on Jeopardy Masters, has shared that The Chase is not renewed or canceled, making what Sara shared on Instagram more relevant.

TV networks come and go. While the state of cable TV now isn’t particularly stable amid the constant streaming wars, TV network deaths have always been monumental funerals. Corporate mergers, changes in demographics, and budget cuts all contributed to channel deaths during the early 21st century that crushed my spirits – long before Netflix even cast the first streaming stone.
Not a day goes by when I don’t reflect upon my childhood spent watching programming on long-gone networks. These networks gave unrepresented artists platforms, brought audiences of underserved demographics together, and ultimately established specific TV identities. These are a few channels that deserve a second or third shot at life.
Spike TV
Before it became the “Yellowstone and Friends” channel, also known as Paramount Network, Spike TV was machismo-television personified. Who doesn’t remember the days of watching Rambo, Star Wars marathons, and 1000 Ways to Die in rotation?...

Dan Schneider, the former creator and showrunner of Nickelodeon series “All That,” “iCarly,” and “Zoey 101,” is suing the producers of the hit documentary series “Quiet on Set.” IndieWire has obtained the lawsuit.
Schneider says his portrayal in the Investigation Discovery series, which peels the layers back on alleged child abuse — including, in some cases, sexual abuse — on Nickelodeon series of the era, is a “hit job” and that his reputation has been “destroyed” by the popularity of the series. The suit names Warner Bros. Discovery, Maxine Productions, Sony Pictures Television, and directors Mary Robertson and Emma Schwartz.
“‘Quiet on Set’s’ portrayal of Schneider is a hit job,” the lawsuit from Schneider’s attorneys Jana Moser and Richard McKie reads. “While it is indisputable that two bona fide child sexual abusers worked on Nickelodeon shows, it is likewise indisputable that Schneider had no knowledge of their abuse, was not complicit in the abuse,...

Some participants of Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV are calling out producers of the docuseries for not being more transparent about the project being made for Investigation Discovery.
“I’m not too familiar with ID, but for the interview I sat down for, it was not an appropriate network for the show,” former The Amanda Show star Raquel Lee Bolleau said in an interview with IndieWire. “I had no clue it was on [ID] until one or two weeks before it aired.”
Fellow Nickelodeon star and former Zoey 101 cast member Alexa Nikolas echoed Lee Bolleau’s sentiment, saying, “I didn’t even know what ID was, honestly. Like most things in Hollywood, “Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV” began with a promise.
After years of whispered complaints about the sometimes-shady world of children’s entertainment, an investigative team set out to expose Dan Schneider’s Nickelodeon and the years of alleged abuse endured by the kids who worked there from 1994 to 2018. Others had tried to tell this story, but this time serious journalists planned to expose the industry’s seamy underbelly — documenting past wrongs, giving voice to victims, and charting tangible change.
Ex-kid actors and “Quiet on Set” subjects Raquel Lee Bolleau and Alexa Nikolas told IndieWire they were presented with a plan for an honest look at the issues and suffering borne out by their childhoods. Lee Bolleau (“The Amanda Show”) talked to the “Quiet on Set” producers about her passion for healing and protecting young performers still in the industry; Nikolas (“Zoey...

In a TikTok shared on Thursday, Nickelodeon’s Amanda Show alum Raquel Lee Bolleau, who was featured in Investigation Discovery’s docuseries Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of TV, says she was left disappointed by her experience with the docuseries about toxic sets at the kids TV network.
The doc’s directors, Mary Robertson and Emma Schwartz, were recently joined by participants Drake Bell, Giovannie Samuels, Bryan Christopher Hearne and co-executive producer Kate Taylor, for a panel conversation for an Emmys FYC event, moderated by Scaachi Koul, that explored the impact of what has become a hit docuseries for ID and streamer Max. The five-part series outlined allegations of abuse, sexism, racism and inappropriate behavior involving underage stars and crewmembers on Nickelodeon TV show sets run by Dan Schneider.

The filmmakers behind docuseries “Quiet on Set” are not staying quiet when it comes to allegations of misleading interviewees.
After former Nickelodeon game show host Marc Summers claimed “Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV” directors Mary Robertson and Emma Schwartz were “unethical” in their interview approach and allegedly misled him as to what the docuseries was really about, the filmmaking duo on Friday issued a statement to IndieWire.
“We are clear with each participant about the nature of our projects,” Robertson and Schwartz said.
Summers appears in the first episode of “Quiet on Set” and discusses hosting the game show “Double Dare” at Nickelodeon from 1986 to 1993. The show ended before Nickelodeon sitcom showrunner Dan Schneider joined the network. Schneider has been accused of toxic workplace behavior and mistreatment of child actors.

Updated with statement from Quiet on Set directors: Marc Summers, former host of Nickelodeon’s Double Dare, is sharing an experience he had during an interview for ID’s Quiet On Set: The Dark Side Of Children’s TV docuseries. During an interview on Elvis Duran and the Morning Show, Summers told the hosts he agreed to do an interview about Nickelodeon, but was not told that it involved a docuseries that was set to uncover the toxic culture behind children’s shows at the network in the late 1990s and 2000s.
“They asked me what I thought of Nick, and the first 10 to 12 seconds, from what I understand, in this documentary is me saying all these wonderful things. But they did a bait and switch on me,” Summers said in a preview of the interview, set to air on Friday. “They ambushed me. They never told me what this documentary was really about.

One of the most harrowing things to come out in a while is ID’s documentary series Quiet On Set, which reveals the troubling history behind the kids’ TV network Nickelodeon’s most popular programming from the 90s and 2000s. Specifically, the series investigates what was happening on the set of various shows produced by the network’s golden boy, Dan Schneider. Among the revelations is that a P. A on the set of his shows was a pedophile, and one of the network’s biggest stars, Drake Bell, was molested by his acting coach, Brian Peck, who also acted in many of the shows. To note, Schneider has not been accused of any sexual abuse himself, and Bell actually praised him in the documentary.

Dan Schneider is apologizing for his behavior depicted on Investigation Discovery’s Quiet On Set and vows to holds himself accountable for how he acted on his Nickelodeon shows in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

TV producer Dan Schneider has issued a new response to an Investigation Discovery docuseries that uncovers the toxic and dangerous culture on the sets of his Nickelodeon children’s shows in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
The first two installments that dropped Sunday were meant to reveal “an insidious environment rife with allegations of abuse, sexism, racism, and inappropriate dynamics with its underage stars and crew,” according to ID.
The next two episodes air tonight.
“Dan expected and asked a lot from his teams,” according to a statement obtained by Deadline. “They worked long hours and consistently made successful shows. In the challenges of production, Dan could get frustrated at times, and he understands why some employees found that intimidating or stressful. In a career spanning 30+ years, Dan worked with thousands of people, many of whom still tell him how much they enjoyed and appreciated working on his shows.

The series is a chilling look back at entertainment history that uncovers the toxic culture behind some of the most iconic children's shows of the late 1990s & 2000s. It is a sad look back at the early days of Nickelodeon run by a harmful individual. Quiet On Set features unprecedented access to key cast, writers, and crew spanning Dan Schneider's popular series at Nickelodeon. Over the course of four parts, the doc series will shine a spotlight on these emotional accounts, chronicling a pattern of gross, abusive, manipulative behavior that unfolded across decades, as well as exclusive stories about child predators on set. Featuring Alexa Nikolas, Giovonnie Samuels, Kyle Sullivan, Bryan Hearne, Marc Summers, Christy Stratton,...

Sometimes, even celebrities make jokes that go a bit too far. Often, what is funny to one person is hurtful to another, and it is true that some people just don’t think before they speak. There was an incident on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno that may have happened back in 1994, but still didn’t go over very well, and resulted in not only hurt feelings but an altercation that many people didn’t forget for quite a while. Here’s what happened when Burt Reynolds threw a drink at Marc Summers on late-night television.
Reynolds’ divorce from Loni Anderson
According to Nicki Swift, Reynolds was one of the most popular actors of the 1970s and 80s, and he married Anderson after six years of dating. They were the ultimate power couple, but sadly, their marriage was not destined to last. The union crumpled by 1993 and turned into...

As you read this, Nickelodeon is probably whipping up thousands of gallons of its trademark green slime in some top-secret laboratory ahead of the 2023 Kids’ Choice Awards, which airs on Saturday, March 4 at the child-friendly hour of 7/6c. In fact, the KCAs is one of the few Nickelodeon shows where the green stuff still flows freely, and no celebrity is safe from the neon-colored goop. As Vox recaps, slime made its first appearance on Nickelodeon in 1981 when the show rebroadcast the Canadian sketch comedy series You Can’t Do That on Television. But it really took off in the ‘90s, thanks to Nickelodeon game shows like Double Dare and Figure It Out. Recipes for slime vary, with green jello, food dye, and baby shampoo commonly listed as ingredients. In a 2011 interview with Gourmet, former Double Dare host Marc Summers ...

As “Saturday Night Live” returned from Winter Olympics hiatus, it did so with a returning host, comedian and former “SNL” writer John Mulaney. Last night’s episode marked Mulaney’s fifth time hosting “SNL,” an anticipated return, both in terms of his past contributions to the show (both in front of and behind the camera) and in light of what’s been going on in his personal life.
Host: John Mulaney
As tends to be the case, a stand-up comedian like Mulaney went with a stand-up comedy set for his host monologue. And he addressed the very public things that have been going on in his life, from his relapses and rehab to his newborn child. Mulaney described it all as “a very complicated year,” but it was clearly a year that provided him plenty of new great stand-up material — even when it came to the January 6 insurrection. After a...

They were the public faces of Hollywood’s oldest restaurant to generations during a lifetime’s worth of service. Bartender Ruben Rueda and waiter Sergio Gonzalez passed earlier this year within weeks of each other, but now their personal lives and careers are memorialized in two new documentaries.
Rueda spent 52 years as a bartender at the Hollywood Boulevard restaurant, while Gonzalez’s long tenure was the first and only job he ever held.
Both documentaries were written, produced and directed by Tina Whatcott Echeverria and will have their world premiere on Monday, Oct. 14 at the ArcLight Cinema in Hollywood. The event is open to the public.
Both Retracing Ruben (20 minutes) and Gonzalez tribute Big Shot (25 minutes) will begin at 7 p.m. in Auditorium 8 at ArcLight Hollywood. The screening of both documentaries will be preceded by a Q & A session moderated by TV personality Marc Summers featuring Tina Whatcott Echeverria and her husband, Mark Echeverria, a fourth-generation co-owner, COO and proprietor of Musso & Frank.
Also on hand will be Leo Rueda, the son of Ruben Rueda and now a server and a bookkeeper at Musso & Frank; and Alex Gallardo, the son-in-law of Sergio Gonzalez and a server at Musso & Frank.
In addition to previewing the new documentaries, the Echeverrias will discuss the publication of a new coffee table book, The Musso & Frank Grill. The book is on sale at the restaurant and will be available at Amazon on Nov. 1 and select bookstores.
Tickets to the Oct. 14 screening are $45 per person and include a copy of the book.
“Ruben and Sergio were beloved members of the Musso family for decades and they will forever be missed,” said Tina Whatcott Echeverria, “I’m hoping these two documentaries will help preserve their memory, honor their contributions, and comfort their families.”
Musso & Frank marked its official centennial milestone September 27.

As Nickelodeon turns 40, the kids’ network is finding ways to rely on its past as it presses boldly into the future.
“My goal is to fill up every screen of every size to make Nick kids’ first and last stop for everything they want in entertainment,” says Nickelodeon Group president Brian Robbins, who succeeded long-time Nick veteran Cyma Zarghami last year in Viacom CEO Bob Bakish’s reorganization of the media conglomerate. Robbins has a long history with the channel, dating back to his role as co-creator of “All That” in 1994.

Kel Mitchell has largely stayed out of the public eye since his time on Nickelodeon’s “All That” and “Kenan & Kel,” but that hasn’t stopped him from still getting recognized as his dimwitted “Good Burger” cashier, Ed.
“I’ll go to a restaurant and if it’s a burger spot, like, I gotta do the ‘Welcome to Good Burger’ for everybody in there,” Mitchell said during an interview with A.V. Club. “And I get free burgers, so there’s perks.”

Nickelodeon is currently the gift that keeps on giving for every nostalgic millennial out there.
First, the network made our Summer just a little brighter by bringing back the iconic game show Double Dare for 40 brand-new episodes. To top it off, Entertainment Weekly revealed that All That alum Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell are also reuniting to compete on an episode of Double Dare!
Thompson and Mitchell are well known Nickelodeon veterans; along with their time on All That, the two also starred on Kenan & Kel from 1996 to 2000 and the movie Good Burger in 1997. Lori Beth Denberg, another All That alum, will appear in the Double Dare episode as well. No word on whether she'll actually be competing or providing some much-needed vital information during the episode.
