- DirectorYann GozlanStarsPierre NineyLou de LaâgeAndré DussollierA young and talented black box analyst is on a mission to solve the reason behind the deadly crash of a brand new aircraft.Compelling French nerd with near-supernatural hearing powers takes on an aircraft corporation after a plane goes down, and his investigation starts to get close to a surprising truth .. we picked out the baddie pretty early, and it's a little predictable. A solid 7 though, kept us fully involved way past bedtime...

- DirectorAndrew LeggeStarsEmma AppletonStefanie MartiniTheodora Brabazon Legge1940, Thom and Mars have built a machine, LOLA, that can intercept radio and TV broadcasts from the future. Unknown to them sharing these broadcasts the devastating changes it will have on the future of world but to them also.Time-twisty thriller with a couple of annoying central performances, and all sorts of paradoxes … one of those films which requires you to engage your brain, to work it out, while also needing you to park your brain so that you can ignore its logic flaws. Downtown Abbey with a time machine, and bizarre Nazi pop songs. Won’t be watching it again.
- DirectorJ.A. BayonaStarsEnzo VogrincicAgustín PardellaMatías RecaltThe flight of a rugby team crashes on a glacier in the Andes. The few passengers who survive the crash find themselves in one of the world's toughest environments to survive.
- DirectorMartin ScorseseStarsLeonardo DiCaprioRobert De NiroLily GladstoneWhen oil is discovered in 1920s Oklahoma under Osage Nation land, the Osage people are murdered one by one - until the FBI steps in to unravel the mystery.
- StarsScott GrimesDamian LewisRon LivingstonThe story of Easy Company of the U.S. Army 101st Airborne Division and their mission in World War II Europe, from Operation Overlord to V-J Day.Simply peerless TV. Only CHERNOBYL has ever attained the same level of quality.
- DirectorAlex GarlandStarsKirsten DunstWagner MouraCailee SpaenyA journey across a dystopian future America, following a team of military-embedded journalists as they race against time to reach DC before rebel factions descend upon the White House. As a photographer myself I just spent two hours shaking my head, but still had a good time. These were the most intrusive journalists in history, seemingly immune to bullets. Iron Man couldn’t have got through this with less injuries. If you get your knickers in a twist about the politics, you’re completely missing the point.
- DirectorAdam WingardStarsRebecca HallBrian Tyree HenryDan StevensTwo ancient titans, Godzilla and Kong, clash in an epic battle as humans unravel their intertwined origins and connection to Skull Island's mysteries.Pure entertainment, me and my six year old son loved it, as did my own inner six year old. Batsh*t crazy and the action above-ground took too long to arrive, but Dan Stevens is a star. Somebody make him James Bond. Don’t worry about logic - there’s plenty of WTF? You can follow the plot, it looks amazing, and there’s a few laughs … that’s what I came for.
- DirectorDenis VilleneuveStarsTimothée ChalametZendayaRebecca FergusonPaul Atreides unites with Chani and the Fremen while seeking revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family. In which sand worms can only cross the desert from left to right. Check and tell me I’m wrong. Christopher Walken utterly miscast, phoning it in. Josh Brolin’s the best thing in it, but he’s hardly in it. Burdened with Imperial levels of self-importance, and along with D1 it’s Villeneuve’s worst film. ARRIVAL was ten times the movie. And to think we may lose the magnificent RENDEZVOUS WITH RAMA because he’s bumping D3 up his to-do list.
- DirectorDenis VilleneuveStarsEmily BluntJosh BrolinBenicio Del ToroAn idealistic FBI agent is enlisted by a government task force to aid in the escalating war against drugs at the border area between the U.S. and Mexico.Masterpiece. Grim, merciless, terrifying: and that’s just the soundtrack. To the complainers that Kate Macer is given nothing to do .. that’s the whole point, folks. What a career Emily Blunt is building. You want Del Toro and the Delta team on your side: “just relax, let it happen” never carried more threat. Is there a weak link? Maybe Kaluuya, maybe not. Everybody’s solid, and Villeneuve’s one-two with ARRIVAL and SICARIO may be the best consecutive pair in the last twenty years. And oh, that scene at the family dinner table. Unforgettable.
- DirectorGeorge MillerStarsTom HardyCharlize TheronNicholas HoultIn a post-apocalyptic wasteland, a woman rebels against a tyrannical ruler in search for her homeland with the aid of a group of female prisoners, a psychotic worshipper and a drifter named Max.It’s almost sacrilegious to say this on IMDB but I’m not a huge fan of MM Fury Road. It’s beautiful to look at but it’s a two-hour primal scream and I’m more often in the mood for something a bit less … smeg. It’s a masterpiece of editing and cinematography, but there’s nobody to truly care for in it. As a demonstration of what’s possible in modern fast-cut cinema it has few peers, but most of the time it’s as incomprehensible as Michael Bay’s Transformers at their worst. Everything Everywhere All At Once film making.
- DirectorKathryn BigelowStarsJessica ChastainJoel EdgertonChris PrattA chronicle of the decade-long hunt for al-Qaeda terrorist leader Osama bin Laden after the September 2001 attacks, and his death at the hands of the Navy S.E.A.L.s Team 6 in May 2011.
- DirectorJonathan GlazerStarsChristian FriedelSandra HüllerJohann KarthausAuschwitz commandant Rudolf Höss and his wife Hedwig strive to build a dream life for their family in a house and garden beside the camp.
- DirectorJames CameronStarsEd HarrisMary Elizabeth MastrantonioMichael BiehnA civilian diving team is enlisted to search for a lost nuclear submarine and faces danger while encountering an alien aquatic species.
- DirectorRidley ScottStarsJosh HartnettEwan McGregorTom SizemoreThe story of 160 elite U.S. soldiers who dropped into Mogadishu in October 1993 to capture two top lieutenants of a renegade warlord, but found themselves in a desperate battle with a large force of heavily armed Somalis.
- DirectorCameron CroweStarsTom CruiseCuba Gooding Jr.Renée ZellwegerWhen a sports agent has a moral epiphany and is fired for expressing it, he decides to put his new philosophy to the test as an independent agent with the only athlete who stays with him and his former colleague. There’s a few moments in this movie that always, always move me to tears, and that’s why it’s well inside my top 100. It’s Tom Cruise doing his angry jerky strutting acting thing, and that’s a little too much … in his ‘help ME help YOU’ scene he goes for Max Cruise … but man I love this film, big softy that I am ;-)
- DirectorJack SholderStarsPowers BootheRebecca De MornayJames Earl JonesA non-NATO nuclear missile is fired from Turkey at USSR, where it detonates. Soviet response is automatic as it's seen as a NATO missile. Can continued escalation be avoided? We follow the US president and a bomber crew.Is it inferior to FAIL SAFE? (Lumet, 1964) … Of course, but then most films are. When judged purely on its own merits, BDEL doesn’t quite cut it as a thriller, or a war film, and certainly not as a love story. Messes with time to keep its protagonists alive. Those MIG-25 Foxbats would have disintegrated that Jumbo jet a lot sooner, if you ask me.
