The Esports World Cup is a tournament series that was announced in late 2023, building off the previously established Gamers8 series. Overwatch 2 was announced as part of the line-up on March 11, 2024.[1]

Information[edit]
Format[edit]
- Hero Bans
- Each team bans 1 hero per map, with the ban impacting both teams.
- Teams can only ban a hero once per series, but may repeat a ban from the opposing team.
- Each ban must be from a different role than the other team's ban.
- Group Stage: July 24th - 25th
- 4 single round robin groups
- All matches are Ft3
- Top 3 teams from each group advance to Playoffs
- Top team from each group receives a first round bye
- Playoffs: July 26th - 28th
- Single elimination bracket
- All matches are Ft4
- In round 1, 2nd place teams from the Group Stage select one of the 3rd place teams from another group as opponents.
- The 2nd place team of group D selects first, then followed by group C, B and A.
- In Quarterfinals, 1st place teams from the Group Stage select one of the winners of R1 as opponents.
- The 1st place team of group A selects first, then followed by group B, C and D.
