    Poor Things

    ★★★★

Emma Stone carries obviously, but the transformation of her character literally from scratch is a wonder to watch alongside some immaculate production & set design work that is a world of its own. Was fearful of a flat story of femme desire/sexploration directed by a man in a similar vein to Men (dir. Alex Garland) but comes together in a satisfyingly fantastical way. And still, there should be less “feminist” movies made by men that overdetermine sexual pleasure as the means by which to become liberated. Overall impressed by how it balances this all with a surreal nature while still being quite literal about the subtext.
