Slow burner with an explosive end.
Watcher revolves around Julia who has recently moved to Bucharest with her husband in an apartment but is being constantly watched/stalked by someone who lives in the apartment of the opposite building.
Watcher is a beautifully paced slow burner, psychological-horror flick. It's focused on 2 aspects:-
1. A Sense of paranoia that develops over time as Julia pays attention to each and everything that is happening around her that makes her feel insecure with every passing day.
2. A possibility of a mental illness which one as an audience might suspect especially when people around Julia are suppressing/overlooking her claims.
Both these reasons elevated the quality of the script, making it a double-edged sword filled with questions of what might be? and might not be?
And what makes the entire journey special is the finale which is worth every second of the movie. A finale that doesn't cheat you and delivers one of the most memorable moments of this year.
If you are a fan of a slow burner and aren't interested in witnessing something out of the ordinary, I'd say give it a go you won't regret it.
