The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

The movie that forever proved that Clint Eastwood is greater than John Wayne.

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly is a towering achievement, not only for the western genre, but for cinema as a whole. I could gush forever about this film, but to spare everyone from my hyperbolic praise, I'll keep it brief.

Everything in this film is shined to perfection. The cinematography is sweeping and marvelous, drawing back to the era of the Civil War. The story is excellently crafted, with three interesting and distinct characters, operating under self-justified means. Their paths intersect, and diverge and their relationships (particularly that of Blondie and Tuco) are captivating. The narrative itself is straightforward - three men, trying to find buried treasure - but the story takes enough twists and turns to remain interesting for it's 3-hour runtime. The pacing is just perfect. And who could forget that iconic score that has been parodied and known by nearly everyone alive.

In short, this film is a deserved classic, and one of the best films ever, and obviously the best western. It will never be forgotten.
